I'm an OG Be More Chill fan. It's a tiny musical people didn't really think was at Broadway level, but we fans loved it so much we fought until they brought it to Broadway. It'll always have a special place in my heart, as a fan and a misfit.
I’m surprised but overjoyed to see this reaction!!!! This song means a lot to me and the musical. Both of you would enjoy the musical, especially having a child studying musical theater! My daughter whose a mus. Theater kid fell in love with this music and all of the behind the seen updates during Covid. She related her life through the different characters. She was then 14 now 17. This musical began in NJ for a sold out run and through the major efforts of fans made it to Broadway for a short run. Hearing the news of its closing, and pleas from my daughter I bought spur of the moment tickets for the night before closing in NY and flew her and I from FL to NY to see this Masterpiece! Joe Iconis is a Genius and upon looking his up u can find his many credits! It takes a humorous yet serious look at teen angst today where so many feel lost and outcast. For parents and dad’s out there the song “you put your pants on” is a call to arms for parental responsibility. And of course green and red Mountain Dew play a part as well! Nathan having worked with teens as I as a youth minister years ago who also studied at Juilliard in NY this gave me insight and empathy into this gen x through genz and millennials as well as to my my daughter. Be More Chill went on a run in London’s west end then toured in multiple countries. This song as become quite an anthem for many and has been stuck in my head on many occasion. George Salazar went onto star in huge new production of Little Shop of Horrors in LA. Was then a walk-on in the show “the Superstore” nbc and then as regular last season etc. more talented man than ever. Thank u for this request. Sorry for the book. Hi I really enjoyed this video! If you would like to watch another song from a different musical then you should check out The Word Will Know from the musical Newsies. Newsies is about the newsboys strike of 1899 and the main character Jack Kelly is played by Jeremy Jordan. Anyway great video.
🙂 He definitely has a nice Broadway voice. I was laughing through the whole song but my youngest son (17) said it's not a funny song. Lol He said, "You Gen-X people like laughing at other's pain". Oh, well. It was a fun song to listen to. Pretty cool.
i'm a 19 yr old performing arts student. once my college tutor was suggesting comedic songs for another student and said "oh, michael in the bathroom is a really good solo male comedy song-" and i swear i got whiplash from how fast i turned to stare in shock. as someone who relates a painful amount to this song, i can confirm it's never struck me as funny 😭

This vibes the same as non autistics finding forrest gump a comedy, the interpretation is valid, i just can't ignore the pain and tragedy because i've lived it. That's probably how your son is feeling, it might be worth checking that he's getting the emotional support he needs if he relates to this song 💗
