I've been away from Total War Warhammer for a couple of years but the positive things I've heard about this DLC brought me back. Glad to see Turin is still going strong with top tier content

That Empire vs Kislev game was amazing, Turin, but my favorite had to be the semi. That was one of the best comebacks I've ever seen in Total War.
Some fantastic games with well-matched opponents. Great showcase of Tzeentch and Chawi. I want to see more of Berserk’s Khorne though, he’s so fun to watch!

Great games all around! The only complaint I have about Competitive WTW is the length between games. Turin's personality and commentary skills are the only thing that keeps me engaged where other hosts would probably loose me. That being said; going 20-30-40 mins between games is definitely something that needs to be addressed at some point. Definitely not Turin's fault btw! Is there a way you can add a mod in the army picker or something to ensure games are popping off in a timely manner? Just a thought :) Cheers!

Great cast, Turin! Like you pointed out, the Hochland Long Rifles aren't amazing in a vacuum, but they work well with the Empire roster and their new and existing tools. It was cool to see some good gunline play again.

Theodore definitely brings some melee hero power to the empire, which I found they lacked. Unless you were bringing Franz or the Todbringer himself, the Empire didn't really have single entity melee; I've found that empire captains and warrior priests basically get soloed by any equivalent on the enemy side.
Who needs melee power when you can bring 2 witch hunters and 2 Luminarks. 😍
I played nurgle against a dwarven player in land battle 2 times in a row and noone could explain my experience better. This is the first time in my years of wh playing that i rage quit

It’s unfortunate that with this amazing content from CA they completely butchered their multiplayer experience with these units. Ranked matchmaking and QB are completely unplayable. They made their leaderboards pay to win, and I think that’s pretty terrible.
I was misunderstood on stream when I said I didn't understand doubling the charge. I know how it works mechanically, what I meant is that I didn't get why it's in the game. It's such a weird decision for a lot of reasons. For example, it could just include the doubled charge bonus on the profile instead of having it be an ability because that seems to punish people who are less familiar with the faction, there's no real way to stop them from getting the doubled charge bonus since it's not conditional, and in the Kislev army book (where Glorious Charge is from) it made the charging unit cause Fear, and in this game Fear is an LD penalty. Now the LD penalty is still there after a fashion, so I'm not sure where the double charge bonus comes from.
I suppose some people seem fine with it after the gold increase, I know Hadres was saying in stream chat that he thinks Kislev is fine, and he's a way better player than I am so I guess it doesn't need a nerf, though I doubt it would hamstring Kislev that much if it provided less of a bonus.
I don't want to lose the heart, so to clairfy again by what I mean by on the profile, I mean an icon next to the charge bonus explaining the charge bonus duration is doubled, just like how there's poison icons, AP icons and Bonus vs icons. I don't think people even realise other units besides Winged Lancers and Gryphon Legion have it, as Boris Ursus on horseback, the Golden Knight on horseback, and Settra on his chariot all have it.
You've perfectly summed up why the thunder barge, even if priced correctly, still wouldn't be good for competitive play.
If you have no choice but to spec so hard into countering it, and all they need to do is not take it for them to win.

Thunderbarge can't be allowed in it's current form.

In campaign its well armoured, long range hi-ap, fast, well armoured, oh and unlimited bombs... Tell me how exciting it is to play this correctly...
For me the lizardman expansions were the best, apart from the ancient salamander each addition had weaknesses but situationally useful.

@@Shimatzu95 I just tried the thunderbarge against random ai Bretonian army, they had two units flying knights, 2 ranged units, got it down to 40% as I randomly clicked - I got 9750 damage without using one ability...
Another fantastic tournament with my favourite armies - Empire, Dwarfs, and Bretonnians. If we'd had High Elves we'd have had my 4 tabletop armies. Turin's deep knowledge of the game, has analysis army-building suggestions, and his obvious delight at seeing cool units and combinations makes very one of his casts truly enjoyable.
Elspeth's breath needs a hard damage nerf or at least its aimbot tracking removed. TequilaSunset tested it during his stream and a single breath attack did over 4k damage on a Slann mage and managed to nuke 60-70% HP on Malagor while he was flying and actively trying to dodge it. Fair enough that Elspeth costs over 3k but it's still really unfun to deal with, and if you didn't bring anything to counter Elspeth you can kiss your lord/caster goodbye.
Yeah, it does need a nerf.
Turin you brought me into warhammer as a whole and brought me so much joy over the years. I think youre a really cool guy and you helped me through a very tough time in my life.

Honestly, even as a campaign player (who mostly plays dwarfs) I genuinely don't see how the thunderbarge is fun as it is now. Effortlessly cakewalking the whole game with one unit gets old really fast.
Weee Thunderbarge go boom over enemies :D
Also it should be limited to 1 or 2 per army

Just tested with another top player, we beat elspeth with bret, posting soon!
Louen has his shield, he is actually one of the best counters in the game vs Elspeth and he's good vs other empire builds. I'm more worried about the ship, cavalry can't surround it and archers won't be enough. Trebs maybe.

Why no flame gyrocapters?
Breath attack on that new dragon lady is insanely op. Half up off a lord in one go. How is that allowed and dwarfen barge not?
Because the Thunderbarge kills your lord with its spear and then kills your entire army.
It's designed to be a single-target nuke. It's terrible against multiple entities
It's a bit odd then that the High Elf Star Dragon breath + Light of Amyntok combo wombo got nerfed, because this is way worse. Having an aimbotting breath attack that deals thousands of dmg in the span of seconds is obviously overtuned and incredibly unfun. I perfectly understand why the Bretonnia player was salty - wtf was he supposed to do against it?
It's pretty OP but nowhere near as powerful as the Thunderbarge
All those minor nerfs to kislev seem to have done the job.

Chaos Dwarves just seem like they don't take the same amount of damage as everyone else. Everything is too tough, even if their character sheets don't show it, maybe it's something in their models.
How to balance Thunderbarge: 5000 gold cost
As incredible as Turin is at entertaining us during downtime, the sheer amount of it makes these tourneys way less enticing to watch than land battle tourneys. There was some downtime in WH2 tourneys, like 10-15 mins, maybe, but 45 mins in between matches is really insane. Idk if the players are taking 15 mins to choose their armies, or lag in games, combined with the fact that Dom is much slower paced than land battles, but it def hurts the viewer experience
The hunter lord will be pretty obsolete now.

The state of the meta right now means I can only enjoy watching multiplayer but not actually playing it. I don't like any of the strong factions right now. All of my favorite factions are in the pit or C tiers. My two top factions are literally in the pit, its sucks.
Its funny though because all my favorite factions in Campaign are super strong, but terrible in multi.
The biggest problem with the new units for me is they are not interesting, face rolling an enemy is fun the first time but boring afterwards.
What makes it fun is if you have to get the perfect opportunities, but like Smaug in the Hobbit it should have a weakness.
Simply making it 5k won't balance it, the worst bit is its supposed to be floating but is better armoured then a full-plate knight. It should be super slow, inaccurate and a total glass cannon (+flammable) with 1 or 2 bomb drops.
The dilemma is bringing it in close, done right and the player has executed a master-stroke, bad and the player loses.
Not saying its not overtuned, but claiming that the problem with the thunderbarge is that you need to base your units around countering... But how is that different than so many other matchups? At least now the dawi have some options on how to play.
It's just way too much. Imagine if the ROR Dread Saurian had 90MD and his only weakness were shooting units while melee, even anti-large, would just get rolled over. So you would have two choices: either take half the army ranged + artillery and then you lose if the enemy comes with the melee swarm, or you don't and if they take the Saurian you lose by default. And then there are factions which either have very little ranged or no flying units, they simply can't defeat the Thunderbarge at all. For example, if you only have short-ranged shooting units like WoC or Norska, what do you do? Dawi can simply focus your horsemen and axe/javelin throwers keeping the TB back, while the Thunderbarge has a long-range cannon attack and can still attack and then once you have no shooting, even if cleaned up 60% of the Dwarfen army by that point (and Dawi are resilient), you lose. You can simply take sturdy infantry like Longbeards, some Quarellers to counter horsemen, Thunderbarge and that would probably be an unbeatable combination vs. several factions.
The existing flying units now have either very limited air to surface capability (like the dragons), they have three breaths and then they have to land, or they are weak to both shooting and flying units like the gyrocopters. Thunderbarge is unique in the way that this is the only flying unit in the game which can stay up in the air all game shooting, while being both fast and so tanky that it is not afraid of flying units either.
Well that was a bit disappointing. Every new unit banned. I guess Elspeth was cool to see but damn.

We had doomseekers, pirates, Malakai, Hochlands, elspeth, black rose knights, ships, master engineers, few other units I think! Just no nurgle today
