THIS STORY:
William "Billy" Rouse was 15 when he shot his parents in the bedroom of their mansion.
The June 6, 1980 murder of Bruce and Darlene Rouse went unsolved until Rouse was picked up by Florida police last fall as a robbery suspect. He was living on a houseboat in Key West, having squandered his share of the million fortune his father made with a chain of gas stations. Rouse said he killed his parents after a confrontation with his mother over his drug use in which she threatened to send him to military school.
As his parents slept, Rouse crept into the bedroom with a shotgun and shot his mother point-blank, then turned the gun on his awakened father, clubbing and stabbing him as well.

The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named âThe Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.
#Graves #Cemeteries #Death
As a child, I was raised near a cemetery. Our family had been there for generations. The graves of 3 children born to grandmother who died at birth were there.
Two of my childhood friends and I would spend days cleaning the graves of people. We never thought it was strange. I always felt comfort as we cleaned the graves. I never knew there were people like me who wanted to honor the people who came before me in this manner.
I still find comfort in visiting these graves. It's my trying to say you are not forgotten. Your passing through this earth had meaning.
I'm glad I found your channel. We never walked on the graves either. As respect for the people.
@@frankpaya690
I don't think we had any reason for not walking on the graves. It seemed disrespectful. These were the remains of real people. All these people had were their head stone and the land over their coffin. I still feel that way.
Anytime I had a bad day or a lot on my mind, I would drive to the cemetery, and walk around in the old section of the cemetery looking at gravestones and clean them off or just straighten a flag if needed. I've always found it to be a peaceful place to be when I needed alone time. Just me and my thoughts.đ
everyones born near a cemetery
I was told as a young girl that if you stepped on a grave and didnt say sorry a ghost would follow you home. I'm now 46 and still say sorry xx
@@angelabird4794
I think that's a good idea.
My husband's little sister lived 2 days. Her grave at Holy Cross in Cal City is surrounded by babies from 1950's. She died from underdeveloped lungs. Born today she would have spent some time in NICU but would have been fine. A big majority of those babies would have lived đ.
I'am so very sorry for your husband's and the family's loss.
I have learned that I should be careful with words I choose to say when I'm angry cuz later, those words always leave a huge wound of regrets in my †besides hunting the love ones.đ Those wounds can't be healed!đđšâđ©âđ§âđŠ THANKS!đ
the truly sad thing to me is how few people think like you. Most people will say whatever they can to destroy you on a whim. And not even care.

I still hear my Moms voice laughing when she was telling her Friend (while pointing at me) "she was the only one who was planned, and look at how she turned out".
Several years later after she had broken her neck and was signed over to hospice by her favorite (my Sister), I fired hospice, brought her home and helped her get strong enough to live. I did complete care for her, she was a quadriplegic and could do nothing for herself. And she outlived my Dad. So yeah, look at how I turned out... I was the only one who fought for her to live, and took complete care of her. Thankfully I had been trained as a CNA and an EMT and had worked in the hospice industry so I knew what to do. We were definitely not close when I was growing up, but those last 5 years she actually got to see "how I turned out", while my other siblings only cared enough to come when she had surgery or was literally taking her last breaths. And oh, before her last birthday she told me she had never attended a hawaiian luau. So for her birthday I sat her patio up as a Hawaiian luau, and provided fresh fruit and drinks, played hawaiian music on a Jam box and decorated it all with Hawaiian decor and we watched the sun rise over the pond while I fed her breakfast.
I have no regrets with her and that's saying alot. But her words still haunt me and bring tears to my eyes some 30+years later.
Recent subscriber here....When I stumbled upon your channel, I hit gold! I thought I was alone in my fascination for cemeteries and stories such as these. When I am traveling, I often stop at cemeteries and read headstones and try to imagine their lives by the inscriptions, years lived, etc. I will pick up a fallen pot or straighten a flag like I've seen you do. You are a natural story teller. Keep up the good work and thank you.
Thank you thatâs a very kind note.

I had Billy Rouse in my class in special ed in Libertyville Illinois. I was teachers assistant in the class. He was quiet but not easily motivated. Just came in usually high or smelly. He was clearly in a sort of internal misery. He was ruled by a dad that seemed to just yell a lot and wasn't ever ever pleased with anything Billy could -or couldn't - do.

My conscious hurts me every day whether I actually killed anyone or not. It's best not to even think about things like that. In my mind I'm a murderer.
This weighs heavily on my heart, such a horrific case. I do not recall this event as I was only 8 at the time. Still enjoying my childhood and protected from such things. Rest in peace Rouse family.
This is so sad and scary but thank you for sharing this story Ron. I'm from the UK so I'm so interested in hearing such sad stories from the u. s. a. May those family members rest in peace.
May this family rest in peace. Very horrific way of murder of the parents. I am glad to see William is serving his life behind bars. I do like those old head stones. Great story Ron.
Kind of reminds me of the Menendez brothers with the spoiling and the murders. My parents raised us with a what we needed: a whole lot of love, our physical needs met with occasional splurges, and some appropriate discipline when needed. I admit I needed the last part more than my sister did! đ€Ł
Sometimes kids are given to much in life, and with no responsibilities. They expect cash flow will never stop, the parents weren't seeing what was happening around them. A terrible tragedy all around, and it didn't seem to change any self serving thoughts in the minds of the two sons.
Dynmically opposite, kids who have very little, go on to criminal lifestyle, middle class children can wind up on the same road.
The way they were raised had a lot to do with their lack of responsibility. You can't give anyone everything they want without cheating them out of the joy of accomplishment. Even the girl who apparently did very well in school displayed some of that behavior at the end.
Youâre a great story teller Sir!
That video is absolutely brutal. Having to tell us the strip-mall wasnât there in 1853? đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
I remember the story. Everyone was frightened when this first happened in this area. I believe ID channel did a story on the house and told the story of what happened to the Rouse's.
I used to live in Libertyville, Illinois on the town square ( the rectory of St. Joes ). I remember this mystery Murder ! we Moved to Wisconsin before it was solved. WOW What an ending !! I have donated to your Patreon to help with the purchase of headstones. Ron, You always tell a good story and keep me intrigued. Hope to see you in the Northwood's this summer.
How Heartbreaking & sad đąđą RIP to the parents & Robin I also like to look at old gravestones & the history to themđđ
Another fascinating story of murder in a family. Billy was probably a psychopath at an early age. These sons were screaming out for help, love, attention and all they got was the old tough love kick in the pants. Doesn't turn out so well as we have learned here.
Tough love doesn't always work. Love, time and attention is what's important. What happens is that material things are given and for some reason, "people", not all, think that's enough. It's not. Also words can hurt and scar.
Never heard of this story. Horrible how children can kill their parents. The thought of killing someone is bad enough but a parent is even worse.
I feel the same about this!!đđđ
Have you ever lived through years of physical and mental abuse? I might sound cold but you begin to feel like they don't place an emphasis on the value of life, why should you.
In his older pics, Billy favors his father, Bruce. Iâd hate to see the nightmares that wake Billy up.
This whole story is so sad.
Parents that work to give their children a life they never had often forget those children will never learn the lessons that made them hard workers. I think by the time they realized what their sons had become, they felt it was too late to fix things by themselves. A lot of kids, in time, grow up & get close to the parents again. But I guess Billy had other plans...proof that RESPECT has to be a lesson they learn real early on.
I hadnât heard of this before so thanks again Ron!
Thank You and for fixing that Flag
you very welcome!
Not sure why there is a question mark at the end of that

My mom and dad knew the Rouses. My dad worked for him at the Standard station (later Amoco) in Mundelein back in the late 60's or early 70's. My uncle and his friend robbed that station before that and like dummies they ran from there and left footprints in the snow to where they were hiding. They were busted in no time. LOL Anyway, after working for Rouse (everyone called him Rouse) for a while, Dad bought the Mobile station Rouse owned which was across the street from the Standard station. Robin was the same age as me. I didn't know her or the other kids or Darlene but I do remember Bruce. He was always nice to me. I was living in Gages Lake (Grayslake) when the murders happened. I was shocked and so was my dad. Bruce got into cable tv and real estate and word was he was affiliated with the mob which supposedly met at his house. After their deaths the house had an illegal casino run by the mob and a well known mobster was slain there. The house is gone now. It burned and not much was left of it, then it was torn down. It was just north of Rt 137. It was unincorporated back then but it's really grown in that area now. I haven't been there in a few years but if I remember right there's a music hall and a few other businesses where the house was.
Thanks for those memories. Crazy times

@@FacesoftheForgotten I'm surprised to hear such ignorance from someone who spreads so much wonderful information such as you, sir.
So please allow me to give back some knowledge to you as you've given me plenty........
Its called shock. It's one of the stages of grief. I'm kinda surprised that someone who spends so much time around the subject of dying wouldn't recognize this - but maybe I shouldn't be because It's not something people experience with typical deaths like when grandma dies of old age with the whole family gathered holding hands and saying goodbye together.
It's what happens when your friend or family is suddenly and tragically taken from you. Or violently taken from you.
I think part of the problem is that people watch too much tv and movies and are conditioned to expect dramatic responses to situations like this.
Sometimes people dont believe me when I tell them with a straight face and matter of factly that my sister committed suicide when I was 17 and she was 24. They expect tears, 23 years later, to make it believable. Ever since it happened, I've always been self conscious about the way I appeared to people emotionally. But I had to be strong and be a man, at 17, for my mom - who was probably more like what you'd expect a suicide survivor to behave like.
Another thing you have to remember is you are approaching this situation from the viewpoint of an emotionally, financially established adult man, not a 15 year old kid who was spoled(not his fault), not emotionally stable, brain not fully developed, and under the influence of drugs at 2am in a big midwestern thunderstorm in 1980!!!!
Anyways, I love your videos - I live by st charles and heard of the body snatching story but not in detail and of course not with the quality video you made. Hopefully I helped you understand why it looks like

Thank You for telling this story.
I couldn't understand why the police couldn't have solved this relatively easily, until an article said that when they were going to interview the children, family members intervened and disallowed it. I'm sure they had the kids' best interest at heart, but it allowed a murderer to inherit and spend a significant amount of money, which gets me more than him going unpunished for 15 years. The irony is that in 1980, Billy would've been tried in juvenile court and likely released by age 21.
