    I remember a few years ago a member of our club asked me if I could take his 13 year old daughter hunting,he had terminal cancer and his daughter had been wanting to go hunting,I said yes and I let her use my son's Mossberg 20 ga after a half day of seeing nothing I stopped by a clear cut for lunch and waiting for the dogs to come back out, and as we sat there I spotted a deer about 100 yards out bedding down,I got her gun ready and she finally spotted it I honestly thought no way in the world this deer was in any danger but she was going to get a chance to at least shoot at one first round you could see the pellets splash down at about 50 yards,I said aim about 10 ft above him and boom the deer started flopping and I finished it off 1 pellet hit him in the spine,it was just a 7" spike but to her it was Boone and Crockett to me it was holy cow how did that happen

    I load lead f shot (.22) in my 20 gauge, use it on coyotes and bobcats. Don't have a chronograph so can't say what the fps is, but get a tight pattern out to 40 to 50 yards. Using federal hulls, flight control cup, & blue dot. It would be interesting to see the speed and pattern you get in that 3020.

    Awesome video Cuz. I used to deer hunt a lot with a Shotgun back home in North Carolina running dogs and stand hunting. But now living in Louisiana I’m pretty much a Rifle Hunter. But my question is, is it the buffer that helps to get a better pattern. Or is it a combination of Powder, Primers, Pellets Size etc... a lot like Handloading for Rifles / Pistols.

    • @BubbaRountreeOutdoors
      @BubbaRountreeOutdoors  Před 4 lety +1

      It's a big combo of all of it! But, buffer is extremely important in keeping the pellets from deforming during the firing process. Buffer can make a huge difference at extended ranges.

    • @colemanbonner
      @colemanbonner Před 3 lety +2

      It seems to me that 000buck is just wrong in a 20ga, it’s too wide to stack/overlap well, too narrow to engage the barrel in any meaningful way. I find that there’s a reason everyone uses #3 and federal does the #2 mags. The pellets fit nicely in the shell and allow the gun to work effectively
