- In this video i show you how to fix a geotrax train that has stopped responding to the remote. I was not able to get a second method to work but, Sir Ashton 556 found another way to get some trains that don't work with this method to work. Link below.

Tried your fix on 5 trains today... trains are almost 20 years old and were last used around 15 years ago and you know what? 5 dead trains came alive and my almost 3-year old daughter is giving our geo-trax trains a second life now! Amazing!

I can’t believe this works! I went through this last year and forgot about having to “man handle” my train- I need to put a note with my train set to remind myself to beat my train when it’s not working. 🤦🏼♀️

I gave it a good 3-5 whacks against my tile floor or against my hardwood table and it worked. I made sure it had fresh batteries and all of the switches were “on” before whacking it/slamming it fairly forcefully on the ground.

As ridiculous as this solution might seem, it works. I also had luck with smashing the bottom and sides with a screwdriver handle. Thanks for sharing.
My light is on and remote is putting out sound, but I’ve beat the thing up and it will not go! Any thoughts?
my yellow train set was sat in attic for about 7 yrs waiting for son to grew. now stop working and thanks to you we can enjoy it again, tap tap tap and back to live :) cheers
I recently bought a lot of 7 “non working” trains off of eBay. After using this method 6 out of 7 started to work. It also worked on one of my other trains that was moving really slowly and froze up mid-ride.

Im not going to lie, this worked, first try, i used the back end of a screw driver on the bottom and i was shocked, good vid haha!

I do have a in un-motorized blue diesel which you unscrew the bottom to get to the battery area, but when I was little I thought this thing died and was gone for good so I took baths with it regularly, only the light worked when I put a new battery in... There was once a speaker

I had no idea that building made the controllers have sound. We got our tracks and buildings in a huge eBay lot. I thought it was just a weird building. This was really helpful. Please make video #2 ... we can't fix our one engine.
I am happy i could help, sorry but video #2 is not coming since the train was to far gone, though i have seen another solution that involved hitting the power button with a screw driver. I haven't done it personally but it works for some people.

did you ever make a video of you tearing down that other train? my red light comes on then goes off. sometimes this works other times it doesnt. i replaced the dead batteries today and actually heard like a motor running as soon as new batteries were in it. thought maybe it was completely fixed. after turning it off the motor didnt run again but i do get the red consistently it just doesnt stay on.

Just letting you all know that for sure I will not be able to make a pt 2 for this video. I tried to figure out the problem but the train was ruined in the process. I hope that this method can help your trains!

Hey, so I have a geotrax, it turns on, and the wheels run. But they do not stop. I cannot get it to turn off, unless I take out the batteries, or tape the top red button down. Have you ever had this happen? Any suggestions?

all of them where broken but this method fixed them all :) I did not know it was so simple!

Oh try opening another controller and see if there is a difference... (I don't know if it will help)

Hey just got my 3 year on 5 trains none work and I'm more controls look like yours except mine got speakers on it and make sound I get the more controls to work I get the trains to light up just can't get them to move
Thanks for the tips. Did you ever do the next video method 2. I have a train that has the free moving part on the bottom. My engine comes on,but the wheels don't move. Think it has something to do with the gears.
L Gac i would guess that is the gears. Mine does not even get the engine on. I haven't had time to do number 2 and i won't have time for a while to try it. thanks for watching.

Unbelievable, the train needed a couple of really hard whacks on a Converter floor, then it worked again !
The light on two of my trains come on but that's it. None of my remotes work.
Hey do u need a remote control to use the train? Or I can just use the power button on top to use it? I have a 2003 Geo Trax lights is working but it's not working.
If it has a light that means it should have a remote. There are a few trains that are push only but all of the ones i have don't use batteries. Did you buy it without a remote?
theradman thanks for replying. so this was a hand me down from. a family member, not sure but I think it came with a remote. My nephew used it without a remote. He just pushed the button on top and it would work. It's only now I'm gonna use it for my 2yrar old son and the lights are on when the batteries are in but the switch don't work to take it off. I'm trying see if I can get it fixed or i may have to purchase one of the train (which is very hard to locate). I really appreciate your help I'm clueless with these things.
As old as that train is it might just be toast now, cause if it did come with a remote it isn't supposed to work without it. I would see if you could find the same train on ebay or another auction website as i have not personally seen one on sale anywhere else for years. As for getting it fixed that might work, is the engine doing anything when you push the button or is the light coming on and nothing else?

I have this train and every time I use the controller it wouldn’t turn on the train even though the train was turned on and the Controller was turned on so that’s weird

My train is busted with corrosion. I opened it up but there was no way to get to the battery contacts because the plastic is connected to the other plastic and is not held on by screws. It sucks because it was my favourite train and I got the remote to work but can’t get the train to work sadly. The design of the battery compartment is stupid in my opinion, or I’m just stupid fir leaving the battery’s in 😂

+theradman I have a train that I have to slam more than 6 times to get it to turn on and when it turns on it doesn't go the light just flickers and if it does go if it taps on anything it stops working. do you know how to fix it.
i do not, but it sounds like a wiring connection might be shot. this method fixes a problem with the motor freezing up, but if a wire was loose then that would explain how it can come on and then just shut off for no reason.

your welcome, i recently did part 2 without recording it and it did not work. I did find that it is possible that the button can get out of alignment but even after fixing that nothing happened. So i am pretty sure that if this method does not work nothing will.
oh, sorry to hear that. if I ever find out any other methods I'll let you know. this probably won't work but with that train that I have, I found a method and maybe you should try it, is very simple, what you do is take a screwdriver and use the back or side of the handle and hit the button, you don't have to beat it to death but hit it with a decent hit and if it does or doesn't work tell me.

Sorry there are other reasons that the train could have stopped working. This is just the most common one and easiest to fix.
