STEAK AND KIDNEY PIE | PIE RECIPE

How to make steak and kidney pies, the pastry I used is my puff pastry recipe check the link below, to make the 6 pies, you will need half of the pastry. You can even use the supermarket or use shortcrust pastry.

INGREDIENTS
300G BEEF (PREFERABLY THE SHOULDER PART)
300G KIDNEY
70ML RED WINE
1800ML BEEF STOCK
1 MEDIUM ONION
1 MEDIUM POTATO
1 SMALL CARROT
1 GARLIC
1 Tsp BLACK PEPPER
1/2 Tsp GREEN PEPPER
SALT
4 Tbsp OLIVE OIL
1 Tbsp BUTTER
280G PUFF PASTRY ( THIS IS HALF OF MY PUFF PASTRY RECIPE)
1 whole egg
A bit of milk

I made this recipe with store bought pastry and it came out beautifully ! I added a dash of worcestershire and a little rosemary and almost cried when I tasted it.....Sooooo Gooood !

Among the British meat pastries, my favorite one was Cornish pasty, but sometimes I bought steak and kidney pie instead, if there was non left. I remember that the smell of kindey was prominent in those pies, once i had taken a bite beyond the crust, which took a while to get used to, but on the whole it wasn't all that bad, quite filling in fact. That was back the mid seventies, when i was a student in London. I never had a home-made one though .
