I have very simple bookkeeping needs and still using QB1999 Pro. I’m considering QB 2017-19 desk top. My question(s), can I import a range for my list or do I need to drag the entire 20 ys over? And 2nd, is it worth it? Are the improvements in software worth it? I currently do not have “Loan Manager” and very little options for tracking assets and inventory (not much for inventory)?

Hi Dana. I only work with QuickBooks Online which is a very different version from QuickBooks desktop. I don't know the answers to your questions about QB Desktop.
Hi veronica great video, I have a client with qbo bank linked never reconcile, what is the best option to get their book done clean up or new qbo account?
It's hard to say without looking at their books. However, because my team and I have cleaned up hundreds of messed up QBO file, we generally clean up the file (we don't start over).
Hi Veronica. Great video! My client didn't file taxes since start of business in 2017 and have never done any bookkeeping. Should I start setting up and catching up books in 2017? Is it possible to start in the latest year and move on?
Hi Richie. If you client hasn't kept any books since 2017, make sure that you get paid first before you do any work. You have to start with the oldest year first since all banking transactions are cumulative.
Hi, I have a potential client that has 4 years of needed clean up (2020,2021,2022,2023) do I need to cleanup all years or I can start at a certain year and go from there?
Normally you clean up the years for which a tax return has not yet been filed.
I tried to have a online chat with quickbooks everyday this week. But each time a new person will require me to explain the problem. And each one will have me trying new things which never work and gets my qb in a bigger mess. I only have one bank attached. And we use opening balance retained balance equity but each person had me renaming, doing journals and then they will leave the chat. So I try again. But it happens over and over. Help me please x
Koula. I'm sorry you've had such a difficult time with QB's chat support. Keep in mind that the people on their chat support are not bookkeepers or accountants. Help I wish quickbooks could go back in time and redo. I believe I may have deleted my starting balance from chart of account. And now my reconciliation have error messages.

I can't answer your questions specifically since I can't see what you have done. But, if your bank reconciliation is giving you an error message it means that a transaction was deleted or changed. You can normally click on the link that shows you what changed and what was deleted. If a transaction was deleted, then you need to re-enter it.
I have a Credit card that was not reconciled properly years ago. Therefore, when I went to close it, it shows a balance. I need to go all the way back to 2019 to add all the statements properly. Is this the best way to do it? Will it mess up the checking account that has already been reconciled and, though not perfect, is at least correct?
Depending on the balance in the credit card account liability, you could enter a journal entry to zero out the balance in the account. That way you don't mess up any other reconciliations.
I'm new to QBO, bookkeeping, etc. but I have to get my books in order from the way I was previously doing it (which was in a software designed for pro soap makers, which has limitations). The only information/lists that I have done is mileage. However, when I downloaded my banking infor for my business account, QBO downloaded every account I have with my bank - 4 of them! In searching the FAQ it says that I can't delete bank accounts unless I start over with a different co. name. How can I fix this? I don't want my husband's or our joint information in QBO as I had checked the one appropriate box for the 1 account I did want it to have access to. The install is 2 days old, so the only thing I'd loose is mileage which I can go back and do it manually, I don't care. But how do I get these unauthorized accounts DELETED from QBO? Thanks
You might try to see whether a deleter app will work to delete the transactions. Check out SAASant's deleter app.

@@MichelleAndersen09 I had already cancelled and deleted my account with QB Online by the time I saw her answer. I'm just now comfortable with, nor do I want, all my information in a "cloud".

where do I start when cleaning up quickbooks on line?? I have a client that wants 2021 2022 all cleaned up and reconciled and I'm stuck on month 2 it's put of balance and I don't see why??

My client has been in business since 2022. He has never used QBO as it is intended to be used. There were some entries made via connection to credit card and checking account. The entries were all duplicated by manual entry. Now if I try to delete or zero out the duplicate entries I receive an error message - Account Inactive (referring to the debit card used). How do I fix this?
Hi. If the account is inactive, it needs to be reactivated in the chart of accounts before it can be used again.
If they are currently using a very messy QB Desktop account, but wanting to start over new in QBO would that make the transition a bit easier?
If the books are messy, it's hard to "start over". You still need to have good opening balances to carry from QBD to QBO. It would be best to clean up the books first.
