    i just recently had a surgery on my meniscus. dr said before the surgery, if i wake up with a brace, I can’t walk for about 6 weeks. if i don’t have a brace, im walking again in a week. as of today its been about 5 days since surgery and im walking around without crutches. not fully back to normal walking form but everyday gets better.

      Good news! Ya it’s always pretty crazy when you go under anesthesia not knowing the surgical result until you’re up.

    Thank you! This is really helpful and informative. I made a lot of notes and will discuss them with my surgeon(just had acl reconstruction and meniscus repair surgery three days ago)

    Just five days out from a meniscus root repair ( medial meniscus) Iam non weight bearing for six weeks which at 68 is no fun…but I am doing the mild exercises until I see the surgeon next week. I am going to discuss this with him. He is a professor of sports medicine and does a lot of these repairs but it doesn’t hurt to ask. Even a little bit of toe touch would help me mobilize more easily but his surgery his rules.

      Sounds like a plan. Always a good idea to discuss with the doc. Root repairs are also something to take slower as well so I can see why the surgeon may want to delay longer.

      3 weeks into my husband's non weight bearing... should have just had the knee replaced...half the time down.. pissed we didn't get told just HOW long the root repair surgery was going to take to heal..

    I was told not to bear any weight for 6 weeks on a bucklet handle meniscus tear ACL patellar reconstruction surgery and on a brace

      That’s common. You can always chat about this with the surgeon if you had questions about the guidelines but also keep in mind they understand the surgery they did and gave you the guidelines for a reason usually.

    it depends on the repair technique applied, and the portion and location of meniscus that was repaired and the type of tear and the health of the meniscus......, It all depends .

    • @fitnesspainfree
      @fitnesspainfree  Před 3 měsíci

      For sure, lot of variables to consider with speed of progression.

    Hello, I'm 18 years old. 11 months ago I have lateral meniscus repair. I didn’t step or bend my leg for 6 weeks. I work out every day, but I still can’t walk down the stairs because of the severe pain, I still have a swollen knee, what should I do, I’ve been to many surgeons, orthopedists, physiotherapists, they don’t understand what’s causing this pain, we done mri for 3times, but there is only synovitis ...

      Really can’t give a great opinion without a diagnosis in person. Has it been improving slowly over time?

    What scenario relates to a medial root tear?

    • @fitnesspainfree
      @fitnesspainfree  Před 7 měsíci

      Root tears tend to be a bit of a slower rehab as far as I know.

    What about root repair??????

    • @fitnesspainfree
      @fitnesspainfree  Před měsícem

      Generally speaking extends the timeline for healing and speed of progression.
