The bike gets a big thumbs up from me. I bought a used GTS 300 from A&D motorcycles nearly 2 years ago and haven't regretted it at all. The points you outlined about keeping up with traffic, good fuel consumption etc are very valid today, these are not like some generic Chinese 125cc scooter and they won't fall apart. A friend of mine rode to Switzerland on his GTS 300 for a Vespa club meet up, the bike never missed a beat. I can see me sticking with the GTS range as I now find much bigger motorcycle are getting much harder to push around. There are so many useful accessories available and I don't mean "Mod" stuff. I now don't have to tog up in leathers with big boots to go for a ride. I can wear casual looking (but amoured) clothing that doesn't scream biker when I reach my destination. As you can tell I am a fan but also love my RE Himalayan. Looking forward to your conclusions

Thanks for this. I know I say there’s never a bad bike these days but I feel I let my prejudices stop me from enjoying what is proving to be one superb piece of kit. I’m already benefiting from the step through design and the low centre of gravity. Not to mention that it can properly overtake 😉I really appreciate your feedback. Keep watching. Don’t worry, it’s a parka free zone 😂

I bought a new Vespa 300 GTS Touring in 2020. A nostalgic buy, my very first motorcycle experience being a 1960s Lambretta, already nearly 15 years old when I bought it. The Vespa was a bit of a departure from my other bikes, a Honda CBF1000 and Ducati Scrambler. Later this year it’ll turn 10k miles and it’s never missed a beat. So the ‘romance’ of being engulfed in two-stroke fumes have gone but twist & go works. Just back from my annual trip to France, this time two-up. Even with the luggage and pillion it never felt wanting. Perhaps that’s why on contemplating a day ride it’s the bike that mostly gets rolled out of the garage?

That’s a wonderful story. I am constantly amazed at what I’m able to do with the Vespa. Great to learn about longer rides too. Thanks😊👍😊

I’ve just bought a brand new one, orange with black where you’d normally find chrome.
I absolutely love it, so smooth and comfortable I feel like it’s the perfect machine for me.

It’s getting under my skin. They’re coming out in some stunning colours. I do like the black trimmed versions but I couldn’t resist the deal on the black one. I’m so looking forward to more adventures in it. It’s exactly like you say smooth comfy and a lovely design

It's always funny to me when someone used only to a standard configuration motorcycles, try a scooter. I am ex long term motorcyclist and after 5 years pause, tried maxi scooter (250) and fall in love. Never looked back. My scooter has similar position and the seat of a touring Harley, whether protection of a gold wing and not need to do anything with my feet to control the bike. I do now much more distances and time on the bike then ever did on normal bikes in the past.
Vespas are one of the sporty and maneuverable, more for commuting scooters.. Try a Burgman with a touring windscreen or some of the alternative models from other manufacturers. I love the Silver Wing 400 the most.

Yeah I think you have it absolutely right. The maxi scooters are especially good for giving tourers a run for their money and usually much better at half the cost! Sadly I need the ultra low tunnel otherwise that was the direction I was heading

I had one for 2 years. Had 3 chaps I know getting quite upset and swearing at me. Their loss. They are brilliant. Practical, quick and fun. Just don't put chocolate in glove box or under seat. Don.t ask 😄

Sadly I only have room for 2 bikes and my back is rather bad. I didn’t want to change but I’d be lost without the escape. I’m loving it! I might just have 2 keepers now😊

Had an x max250 best scooter I’ve had. Went to Gibraltar from uk and back several times. Changed the variator weights to permit more comfortable 70 mph cruising which hardly affected acceleration. No chain just belt every 12k very protected body and frame. Easy diy a,l engine/electrics protected from weather. Worst aspect of scooters is rear tyrepunctire or tyre change. Do it yourself else ££££££. You will enjoy it. The small wheels on this are a downside because of roads states

That’s very reassuring! I had spent ages checking if things are doable. Seems there’s some faffing around but nothing that I’m overly fazed with…. Yet😂
