    I rode my 2022 Vespa GTS 300 from the UK to Azerbaijan via Cyprus.
    It even traversed 110 km off-road smugglers route across a mountain range in Georgia, never ever again.
    The Vespa 300 makes an ideal lightweight tourer and my wife even road pillion from Istanbul to Cyprus.
    I have always had adventure or sports bikes, but don't under estimate the Vespa.

  • @doyourememberbe
    @doyourememberbe Před 8 měsíci +17

    Of all the transportation methods i have, i need to admit that the Vespa is the most bang for the buck. More then fast enough, pretty reliable, low maintenance, fuel efficiant, slips you easily through trafic jams…. And it’s quite fun to ride. There’s a reason it’s my daily driver.

    • @Bobby-wn5yr
      @Bobby-wn5yr Před 8 měsíci +1

      We got one for my wife. She loves it because it’s Matt black with red accents.
      It’s very pretty, but the bang for buck is horrendous compared to other scooters tbh. Buy in, servicing, parts and fuel economy are all worse
      Great style, but yeah, money goes a lot further with the Japanese or Korean scooters, not that my wife cares lol

    • @doyourememberbe
      @doyourememberbe Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@Bobby-wn5yr i never bought my Vespa brandnew. Plenty of second hand ones in Europe. Service i do myself. Pretty easy. Can’t say that parts are more expensive compared to. Unless they are branded Vespa, then yes i agree.

    • @KamBenni3
      @KamBenni3 Před 5 měsíci

      Vespa are great but expensive.
      In Australia the syms are 1/4 of the cost so it’s hard to justify the extra for the Vespa

    • @ant_ramos
      @ant_ramos Před 3 měsíci

      @@KamBenni3 I don't own a Vespa neither a scooter. But in my street there are a couple a Vespas + of course other scooters. It's shocking to see the condition of the scooters compared with the Vespas. The plastics, the rust in the mirrors and screws, the seat...
      Even my wife that doesn't likes bikes even commented "how good these Vespas look after years and years under the sun, rain and all weather conditions". I would say, that's where some of the price can be justified in built quality and materials. The rest of course, it's the badge and the Vespa name.

    Lovely scenery around that part of Mallorca (our spelling of it). I was there back in the late 70's, and I most certainly visited the museum and looked at the cast version of one of Frederic Chopin's hands - seeing those long, slender fingers made me realize better how the heck he was able to play some of those near impossible pieces he created. I rode there in a bus, it took forever and a half, so I can easily see how it was a lot more comfortable and enjoyable on a scooter.

    Loved watching this on a very soggy morning in November. We love that region of Majorca and I’ve just sold my Vespa GTV300 so could happily imagine how your journey felt. I bought mine in lockdown three years ago and it was my toe back into the water of motorcycling and now have a garage full of litre bikes so the scooter had to go. I always loved riding the scooter around but it’s too nickable in the UK plus needed the space.. We will definitely rent one when we go back now that I’ve watched this 👍

    Great to finally see you on a Vespa. I owned a couple of these a few years back and absolutely loved them. I've been hoping to see you try one ever since I've watched your channel. Believe it or not, I've covered more miles in a day on one of these than any other bike I've owned (400+ on more than one occasion). Great bikes...fast enough to keep up with traffic on open roads, with the ability to cut through city traffic like a knife through butter (whilst imagining you're Gregory Peck in Roman holiday), economical, cheap to insure, easy to keep clean and maintain... and timelessly stylish. If I could afford a second bike, this would be what I would own, no question.

    Lovely vid, thank you both. Up until a year ago we lived on the edge of Greater London. I used a litre bike to travel into London when I could/had to. Unfortunately my wife wouldn't get on the back of it. Ever. So in 2018 I bought a Vespa Sei Giorni which is basically the same as the GTS just a slightly different front end. She happily sat on the back of that so we often used it to travel into town for gigs etc and also nice weekend trips into the countryside. The big bike did very little for 3 years until we moved to the Wiltshire/Somerset borders and since, the Vespa has had very little to do. I don't think I could bring myself to sell it though, such a great little machine.

    Really enjoyed that, brought back memories. I rented a BMW r850 in 2000 and toured around the Island. It was late October, nice roads and decent weather. Five guys on 3 day rental, one guy had the 850 GS! Remember them? Well done to both of you, making a wet November in Scotland feel much better. 👏👏

    That's a nice little travelogue, guys! Good on you for doing it. The only Vespa I've owned was a '58 model (?), back in 1962, a Douglas-built 125 with the gears on the left twistgrip and a dual-seat; it took a little getting used-to but was fine around town. It was replaced in '63 by a new Jawa 250.

    Twist & rip scooters are ideal for zooming around islands like Majorca & do just as they oughta . A I25 would do the job ,but a 300 job will pull two up better & especially for the hills . A bit different from when I used to visit the place & have to settle for a pedal & pop moped ,no helmet next to no brakes & dressed in T shirt ,jeans & beach shoes . The place has changed a lot ,since I used to go there in the 1970 ‘s ,gone up market ,many of the hotels have been renovated & changed names . Resorts & airport has expanded & loads of new roads , they got all that bunce the EU shafted out of us . I prefer the Spanish islands to the Mainland ,they have a nice mellow cool vibe about them . Last time I was there ,I saw a big Kawasaki Z three up ,an olive skinned bikini clad beauty piloting it ,a very lucky bloke in the middle & another bikini clad beauty hanging half off the pillion seat . There was a Spanish cop on traffic duty , he just waved them past , I bet that wouldn’t happen now . Nice vid 👍

    Hey Mr and Mrs TMF! I'm sat at home in the middle of Storm Domingo watching this and feeling very jealous!! It's been absolutely atrocious weather here near Lyon this week. Not biking weather unfortunately. I'll take the AT to work in all weathers but when I have a few days off and it's chucking it down, the desire gets less! Bonnes vacances guys!

    I've had three scooters in the past all Suzuki Burgman, two 400's and one 650. They are very nice, big and powerful...Galveston bike week is going on here now, thousands of Motorcycles in the area and on the island...

    Good to see you showing how beautiful Majorca is Andy as many people think it's another Benidorm because of one or two of the resorts and I admire your courage riding a "dodgy" scooter 🤣but then again that's what car drivers think about bikes.

    Thanks for the trip to Majorca, a lovely place. I had a Honda Forza which was a 300 and it had plenty of power and was much bigger than the Vespa. We have a Vespa dealer here in Cha-am, Thailand. Hope you can come back to visit again in Thailand. Thanks again.......Sal : )

    So glad you done this small test on the Vespa, I started riding on one these many moons ago, over the years I have had many bikes including a couple of Harleys, Suzuki's and Yamahas. A couple of months ago I said to my other half I would still like to do the ride that I dream I had at age 15! Take a Vespa all the way to Italy. 70 now and finally retired and there does not seem to be a problem two up judging by your video, so I have to do this! :)
