Jeep XJ Broken Crossmember Fix

  • Welcome back to Off the Jeep End, today we are fixing the broken cross member nutserts and installing bolts in this Jeep Xj. use a hole saw of about 1.5 inches wide, this hack for the Jeep XJ cross member is easy to do and solves your problem indefinitely!

    A more permanent solution and fix if u own a welded is to buy threaded stepped bungs. They measure 1 inch top hat 1/8 thick with a 5/8ths main body that has a 3/8-16 thread. Use a series a drills till u get to 5/8ths and use a small magnet to hold it 8n place after u clean the area to bare metal for better weld. Tack in place and its better to do a series of small hot tacks all around but jump from hole to hole to keep the heat done so u dont burn thru. A permanent easy solution.

    I had a crossmember bolt break off inside the unibody. Then tried to east out it then that broke off in there. Was way easier to just drill and tap a different spot. Even if you have a rust free xj a bolt somewhere on it is never coming out.
