- A fair bit of time has passed since I did my last mail unboxing so I figured it was time to do another one.
I sure wasn't expecting what was sent this time - Many project locomotives were sent in along with rolling stock. Another person sent in some 3D printed houses and lighting kits.
There was also two large boxes of new in the box British locomotives mostly made by Hornby.
Huge thanks to everyone who sent all the contents in this video! - Zábava
As someone who lives in the US and loves British Steam Locomotives, those Pullman Coaches, Hornby A4s, and especially that GWR City Class locomotive were absolutely gorgeous!
Whoever sent that, that was a spectacular gift!
CHEEZUS! You got over $2000 in model trains... them English locomotive models "Double O" scale are over $200 apiece... You got someone shining light on you. Yeah, your grandma will be impressed! Awesome haul! John BC

The Dec is definitely a PRR I1 class 2-10-0 loco. The high mount headlight, belpaire firebox, and center mount number plate are dead giveaways. The Pennsy Tender is an 210P75 or 210P85 "coast to coast" tender. The Pennys was very fond of running large tenders with lots of coal with smaller water tanks. They used water pick ups on most tenders with track pans throughout the system
Hiya
OO is 1/76 because when Hornby Dublo (Mecanno) started producing British outline model trains back in the 1930’s they had to enlarge HO (Half O) to accomodate the huge motors of the time. The reason being that the British loading gauge is smaller than the European one. So in the UK we’ve stuck with 1:76 which is 4mm to the foot rather than HO’s 3.5mm/foot or 1/87 scale. It means of course that the gauge is too narrow. So some really serious 1/76 modellers build their own track and rolling stock with a gauge of 18.83mm rather than the OO/HO 16.5mm. This is called ProtoFour (P4) or Scalefour. Another gauge with 1/76 scale is EM gauge which is 18mm gauge, I believe it was the first attempt to produce something closer to true 4mm though the gauge is still 0.83mm too narrow - which is where P4 and ScaleFour came into the picture.
Looks like you need to build a UK outline layout in OO 😂
GWR City Class is a 4-4-0 rather than a 4-4-2 Atlantic. This one’s classmate is of course « City of Truro » which is said to have achieved the first 100mph in 1903. The first official 100mph of course was LNER A3 4472 Flying Scotsman.
When OO came to the USA, they opted for a more scale gauge. iirc American OO is 19mm gauge. It's pretty obscure now, though it has a small cult following even in the present day- Lionel famously offered a small OO product line in the late '30s and early '40s, which is quite collectable now.
“Well folks in todays video..”
always a staple when I’m watching model Train vids
Wait a second aren’t you that
It’s like Christmas at SMT! So much to unbox. The generosity of your viewers is indicative of how much your videos are appreciated.
Those British locomotives and cars are works of art.
The movie “The Train” is an excellent movie a later version a couple years ago was The Monument Men. Both are about the Nazis in WWll stealing all types of art as they retreated from France. A scene in The Train is one of the best if not the best train wreck scene. The director had cameras set all around where the action was to occur. He ad them all in place but still had one left and not sure what to do with it,(as the story goes) ? So he had a crew member dig a hole and aim the camera up at the tracks. You’ll know the scene when it happens! Enjoy the movie.
You are such a lucky person. Those pullman coaches from Britain are expensive!
5:54 The Train ( 1964 ) Burt Lancaster Paul Scofield One of top two train movies ever recorded. Von Ryan's Express ( 1965 ) being the other. Don't miss the Spitfire scene.
Yes two of my ok we're stopping here movies
The A4 you visited is Dominion of Canada, the model version you were sent is what it was like before it came
Back to the UK. The blue A4 is Mallard, housed in our own NRM, the fastest steam locomotive in the world
The amount of British stuff sent by that donor is close to £1000 (1650 CAN) worth of items!
My goodness, I suspected it was a lot
Yeah british stuff is expensive so is a lot of the Steam era German especially era 1 and WWII DRG era
Harrison, your brand is "Nice young man"! I so enjoy your manner. You ALWAYS prevail. 👍
Thank you, I appreciate that.
Remember that the Deltic model is OO scale (1:76.2), so putting it next to an HO DDA40X is not a fair comparison. HO Deltic model would be 7/8 the dimensions of the OO model.
We’ll worth the wait for the major unboxing, nice smt
after some 60 years of running electric trains im still learning of model trains ive not heard of before!
It’s always a good day when smt mainline posts
I second this
I third this
I fourth this
I fifth this
Yes
Love those cars with the lamps inside, they give out such a comfy vibe.
A living room on rails.
Pullmans.
What an awesome video and train haul lot of great stuff.enjoy wizard.👌👍😇
That Decapod 2-10-0 steam loco is a Bowser I believe. It's usually a Pennsylvania RR livery (maybe exclusively) They were offered as kits and RTR. My Dad gave me one when I was a kid like a dummy and I wrecked it promptly. Later in life I found out the kits existed. I built the Prr K-4 Pacific from the same company as an experiment to see if I could do it and it came out nice. I went back to pick up the Decapod kit and Bowser stopped making steam loco kits unfortunately. I did pick a RTR up on Ebay recently for nostalgia sake, haven't even tested if it runs. It's just nice to have one in 1 piece.
A Dominion of Canada. Well done. Now your a connoisseur. Welcome to the DofC owners club👍🚂🇨🇦
Wow, Wow, Wow, I am blown away by the genorosity of your subs. Just shows how much you are helping folks out there, bro. You are killin it and this is how people respond, don't stop what you're doing. It works!!! 🤜🤛
Thank you, I'm trying my best!
always a great unboxing when fan mails comes in, never know what your gonna get. Great Vid Harrison
It's always just a feeling of pure joy when Smt posts
This is definitely one of the best unboxings you've ever done. Amazing video as always.
Thanks. It took a long time to edit so I appreciate hearing that.
The Hornby stuff - wow. Some nice models and worth a fair bit.
Wow! It's a galactic arrival of models!👍
Loving that British stuff! Nice haul, thanks for sharing.
I know a fair bit of background on your new British additions
City of London is a Great Western 3400 class (known as City class). A member of that class called "City of Truro" supposedly did 100 mph in 1905.
City of Coventry is a Princess Coronation class, formerly of the LMS. The first batch were modified for a streamlined casing. City of Coventry was one of a later batch that was built as originally designed, with no accommodation for streamlining.
The engine from the Golden Arrow pack is a Merchant Navy class, in a later rebuilt condition. Originally, these had an airsmoothed casing (like the Battle of Britain, but larger) and were the first class of Oliver Bullied's pacifics.
The Battle of Britain class was one of two mechanically identical classes that were built because the Merchant Navies were a bit large and heavy for some lines.
Both the Battle of Britains and the Merchant Navies were responsible in their day for hauling the Southern Railway's various luxury Pullman services ( such as the Goled Arrow and Bornmouth Belle) of which your exquisite passenger cars depict.
Dominion of Canada, restored to an LNER like condition, is the locomotive you saw in the museum. Your model of her is in late BR condition. Mallard actually lives in York, England at the Railway Museum there.
Hope you found this informative!
Thanks for all the info
Man oh man Harrison really nice stuff these guys sent to you.
British steam loco's are the finest looking trains in the world.
That was quite the mail call Harrison!! Nice looking bunch of stuff you got there!!
"The Train" is actually a really good movie!
that little center cab is a General Electric 44 tonner. The GE center cabs are my favorite locomotives as they have ran regularly on a local small railroad locally to me (Arcade and Attica). I would love to find a full die cast one like that, never seen one before. I have a later Bachmann one which I plan on painting into the orange Arcade and Attica paint scheme.
That New Haven is a 1950 Electric Passenger engine from ConnDot, Connecticut Department Of Transportation that ran into Grand Central Terminal in New York City. Very rare...
No, a 1919 EP- 2 not 1950 , That livery was worn late in their lives and I don't think all were repainted, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Haven_EP-2
@@ROBERTN-ut2il I stand corrected very as 1950 is way over 1919-1927. Thanks for the info
Wow! Such generosity. You have some loyal viewers Harrison.
that 40-ton switcher is actually a General Electric 44-tonner
Wow what a great haul. I look forward to see what you do with the projects engines and the buildings
Great video as always, intrigued by the Cromwell car
Love the Camelback. I always wanted one in HO scale but never found one I can afford. The BL 2 as well I find them quite lovely. Has a lot of character, even though the real locomotive was a bit mid. I model mostly British stuff, but I really love the old American steam. Can't wait for you to fix them and bring them all back to life.
Those British trains are absolutely beautiful. I must admit I much prefer the steam locomotives. Great video too i watch every one well done
Holy cow! That is double my entire colection that you just received in packages! Keep up the great work smt!
This was one of the best mail in hauls yet! You always get great stuff, but the locomotives in this one were really special. Always enjoy watching, its like Christmas morning lol
Another great unboxing. I was impressed with the Golden Arrow at the end of the video. The detail and interior lighting are very impressive. Keep the vids coming. From Texas
Thanks for watching
38:10 I had a similar issue with my Bachmann Hershey's U36B (bought in a train set lot from my local hobby store) and my Bachmann Spectrum Amtrak F40PH (bought from eBay). It's likely a bearing seized up causing the drive linkage to slip.
SMT has to be my favorite Channel
the incredible detail you can get in model trains today is simply amazing!
The Emd gp40 is nice
Idk if I’m first
On Proto 2000 you slip off the coupler box from the driver put the body on then slide the coupler box through the body. I do this all the time the rounded part of the coupler box goes in the facing the track. Proto 2000 is the heartbeat of my layout.
Nice haul Harrison. Anytime we get some Nerf floof is a happy bonus.
SD24 is easily identified by the semi circular turbo bulge behind the cab on the engineer or fireman side.
Obviously an Italian important from Kenneth as it labeled fragilly.
One of those interiors looks to be a combine coach.
2:26 Early AHM effort at a non - standard tank car.
2:33 EMD SD24 by Atlas.....Yes
2:40 G.E.44 tonner
The movie "The Train" is famous for the TTTE braking and wheelslip sfx.
All the equipment that has lights in them, doing led conversion. Also installing capacitors to them as well. more realistic. Lights remain on when train power is off. As capacitors discharge they fade out. Have great day
Another great video. Idk if you have 1 . When repairing some of these engines and things. You should invest in a ultra sonic cleaner. They are amazing to work with. Cleans everything. Gets the spots you can't get to. Keep up great work!
They look cool. I'm jealous. I wish I had viewers send me trains. I wish I had those British trains. There so expensive to buy.
‘The Train’ is a great movie, well worth the watch! Great unboxing!
Smt’s train lot unboxing videos cure all model railroaders problems
Excellent surprises SMT you are loved
Great video i love the things you get keep up the great work
Wow those are really amazing additions to your collection I especially love that Mallard 👍
It's fun to see that quite a few of the locomotives you got in this video I just got at a train show! I got a C&NW proto 2000 SD7. I got 2 AHM locomotives: Mo-pac rs11 and a FEC BL2!
Very nice stuff! I like the Conrail and the Amtrak.
Wow you got some amazing looking locomotives. Some very good brands concor etc. I like the variety you got. Very awesome
Something to add regarding the Proto 2000 locomotives: I have a handful of them, all but one new in the box like yours. Every single one of them has suffered from split gears, and they will exhibit those exact symptoms. They run fine, start making a little noise, then suddenly lock up. Fortunately, replacement gears are readily available and inexpensive. Otherwise they are nice running machines. Hopefully you find that information useful. By the way, those British locomotives are really beautiful, especially the City of Coventry and the Appledore. Hopefully you are able to get the Deltic figured out. I’ll be looking forward to that video!!! Cheers from Wisconsin!!!
He is correct. The replacement are the same as sold by Athearn.
Nice find!
I just found something of my own a few days ago: an Athearn BN 6947 SD9 (at least I think that that's the road number, I'm too lazy to go and find it on the layout). Apparently, at least according to the book on Athearn that I checked out at the library, it is rare and hence worth at least $64. A lot more than the $12 I paid for it!
Amazing 👏 nice train 🚆 👍
Reminds me of when I went to see 'Dominion of Canada', such a cold day in March.
Been doing some adding up, Kenneth sent you well over £1000 worth of stuff - Amazing!!
Wow, I just can't get over the amount of stuff people send you for free....
ooh, aahhh, and WOW!by the box full.
Excellent movie, hope you enjoyed it.
What a great video plenty to fix and a whole British fleet and thank you ken for your generosity I don't know much about British locamotives and think you gave alot of us a new itch 😂
SD7 is the first loco you shown that i had. My kids thought i was crazy carrying on
If you think those Pullman coaches are fabulous, you should see the ones Golden Age Models make! They are a sight to behold with their all brass construction, springing, and ball bearings on the axles!
So cool. Christmas in October. 🎊🎈🎉
Beautiful sd7!!!!!!!!! Old proto 2000 are fine.
the BL-2 was a C&EI (Chicago & Eastern Ilinios) engine blue and orange.
Wow Harrison, so many great locomotives.
Hi SMT, at 9:33 I'm pretty sure that locomotive is a Penn Line or Bowser I-1 decapod. Great video!
Serenity, we have runners! Quite the haul, Harrison. Hornby's do look a little large for HO. Cheers from eastern TN
Hornby produces OO scale, which is 1/76 scale, and HO is 1/87. They both run on the same track. I think Hornby did this so they could fit a better engine in some of the earlier models, or have more space to make the valve gear.
Wow that was really nice of you from Guy from the museum in Europe to send you those European trains really cool that you have an HO scale model of the worlds fastest steam locomotive Mallard
Hello what a surprise another SMT video
This one took a little longer to put film and edit but Im happy with it. I started with over 3.5 hours of raw footage
@@SMTMainline well you did a great job
A bunch of nice items you were sent. Enjoyed the video.
That "40 ton" switcher is actually a 44 ton switcher from Spectrum.
not a Bachmann, it's a cast M.E.W. circa 1960.
I was defiantly wrong about the 40 ton part but that unit isn't made by Spectrum.
@@SMTMainline It's MEW
The bl2 was from the Chicago eastern illinois railroad not Chicago and northwestern
this is awesome keep up the good work!
5:57 The Train ( 1964 ) with Burt Lancaster and Paul Scofield. Don't miss the Spitfire scene. One of two of the best train movies ever recorded. Von Ryan's Express ( 1965 ) being the other. Don't pass it up if the equipment looks foreign or it's black & white.
'The Train' is an excellent movie.
Thanks~ you did unreal unboxing. have a good day! =))
I bought a "lot" off eBay. Just got it. I am a fan of Hyce he's a engineer at the D&RGW and 1 of the cars in the lot was a D&RGW gondola. It turns out it's a 1938 VARNEY. And also coal car thats a 1961 VARNEY. The rest are bachmann or unbranded. It also has a babe Ruth sound car. Added a few new road names too. The D&RGW the Virginian SOO LINE Burlington Northern. The cars mainly need couplers. All great condition.
I love A4s. I think I have 5 of them, a mix of the old Bachman branch line, plus a couple of newer Hornby’s, including a gold plated special edition mallard. I also have a model of LNER Class W1 that is streamlined like the A4. Streamlined locos always look good
I too am a sucker for A4s. I have all 6 preserved examples, plus Silver Link.
@@exarkun42 That is a few. Being an Australian I think the next one I want is Commonwealth of Australia. It was offered to the Australian government when it was withdrawn, but they refused it, so it was scrapped. What a waste of a beautiful engine.
Babe, wake up. A new SMT Mainline video dropped.
Ayoh!
Dang, those are very generous gifts. Lots of future projects. I really like the OVER 98 THOUSAND SUBSCRIBERS!?!? That’s awesome! Almost at 100K. Oh man, I have the bouncy castle guy on standby. Is it too cold for hot dogs and soda pop?
Now you really need to add overhead power to your street line. A video of you switching one of the trolleys to take power from this would be awesome.
I recently bought a Proto 2000 SW9/SW1200 from the local hobby store in Madison, WI. it's called Madison Hobby Stop BTW. And the thing runs perfectly.
44 tonner is a very old model with a chain type drive.
The "40ton"is a 44 ton switcher
My bad
I can't believe you got a lot of British trains with this lot
3:06 is the Fleischmann 'americanized' model of a Dutch US loco with the buffers removed. That is a sweet model and runs like a dream.
That Dominion of Canada is a real beauty! I wonder if Rod Stewart watch's this channel?
20:13 AHM Alco RS2 Main difference between the RS2 & RS3 is no battery boxes on either side of the short hood in front of the cab.
21:25 Chicago & Eastern Illinois ?? A decent paint scheme for that particular model. Not many paint schemes looked good on the EMD BL2.
21:41 Athearn Baldwin S12
