You taught me that Amazon prime thing! Thanks for that! I should really cut you a check eh? Lol! And thanks for your email! It was too late but thanks for making it easier to reach you in the future! We are so exhausted from getting home from your beautiful city at like 2am.. boat-less unfortunately! ☹️☹️☹️
@@LifeinYellowknife thanks for asking - I’m doing fine - very warm and humid as is typical for summer in Georgia- Ive been helping a friend with an academic research project
Please do some videos on or near the actual big lake near you, I think its called "Great Slave". (Kinda odd name lol). I've always wanted to visit it and do some aquatic activities. Your Alaska fan Lisa!!
Hey Lisa! The name of the lake is because of the Slavey First Nations people. It's not like you know...slaves. lol! I'm always trying to convince my husband to do "Fishing Fridays with Chris" as we call it as a joke. He won't do it. The only ones I can think of that I have right now of great slave lake are of the ice castle here: czcams.com/video/svlcOnqAdmY/video.html & here:czcams.com/video/kGf2O9TCic8/video.html is on it and of the ice roads here:czcams.com/video/NaVZ5I1QqIw/video.html Do you want some footage of it in the summer? I can def do that if you want! but as far as me doing aquatic activities on it..no way! lol! Hopefully Chris gets a boat soon and maybe I can convince him to strap on the go pro! lol! Hope Alaska is treating you well!!
@@LifeinYellowknife lol! @ the explanation, makes better sense now. Yes, definitely meant summertime activites! Is it kayak-safe? Lots of fishing? Swim-safe? Water must be freezing! Are there any beaches? Life is good here, this summer is not too hot, unlike 2019!
People kayak on it but it can get wavy for sure. Yes, people fish in it. You could swim in it too but it's really cold! We have a beach but it's in long lake. I'm glad things are good there!! It's been really hot here this year at times too!
I have a couple of questions that maybe you have covered in a video already. Are the bugs bad right in Yellowknife? I am sure they are outside of Yellowknife. Also, how do most people heat their houses? Is there natural gas?
Hey! No problem. The bugs are not bad at all right now in town but of course if you’re hiking and stuff it’s different. Most people use oil or propane I think. :-)
i have this fascination with livingin yellowknife hearing this fromsomeone who lives there is very helpful Yellowknife is very expensive for housitng food and transport
Hey Cassandra, thanks very much for these vids! Can you guide on how to search for apartments in yellowknife? And what's the average cost right now for 1 bhk apartment? TIA!
Hey there. If you search on my channel there is a few videos talking about searching for apartments and also showing mine and talking about the cost! Best of luck!
My guess is you moved there for some special type job, gonna live there for a few years, save money and then go back to the Toronto area and buy a home? Or possibly even relocate to Alberta, such as Edmonton or Calgary, as a lot of folks are coming here now from BC and Ontario.
Not sure to be honest! The only thing stopping us from staying is that we can’t really buy land. We are interested in having a small homestead but wouldn’t move back to Ontario, no. We have been here nearly four years so far and are happy. Maybe in another five we may move? We’re open minded. Another issue is you can’t rent anything bigger than what we have now for any sort of reasonable price and our family will outgrow it.
I am coming to yellowknife very soon with my husband and my two children with a salary of 30dollar per hour for me and my husband will get a job whatever it is is it possible to survive with this salary or not? thank you :)
$30 for both of you combined or you are each making $30? If you each are and working full time it will be no problem! It would be tricky on one salary at that though I think!
Hi there I was thinking of moving next year to Yukon what’s your opinion if you have a full time job then by separating rent and expenses did you save any Money
@@LifeinYellowknife sorry I just make you confuse I want to say yellow knife instead of Yukon you think is it actually worth it living there in terms of saving money if you have a full time job
For us it has worked out well, but I think it would depend on the specific job. A lot of people who work retail jobs or more lower paying jobs have to work several jobs to make ends meet.
Great informative video. Good job!
Thanks so much!
That shipping cost ain't no joke. That's the one on this list that always gets me.

Great video! Please share some info about the furnished bedroom for a mature male in the area of 48 St. and Franklin Ave. in Yellowknife. Thanks.
Very informative as always! It seems that the benefits exceed the costs because of the high salaries
I think so for sure! But I know everyone has a different opinion! How are things going? I hope you’re doing well!
