    My and my wife Delores, moved to Yellowknife back in 1995, and i absouletely love it. It's so empty, which means for peace for me. Yellowknife is perfect because it is underrated but great. Also the thing about the cold - It isn't deathly cold. Sure its freezing, but it won't make you sick. We've had two daughters. Sydney And Quincy. They both love volleyball. Here i work at a train company to support my family. It's the place to be if you want nothing to bother and you just want to be left alone. Defientely reccomend considering going here, It has it's has it's pros and cons, but i think it was worth moving here overall.

      Vincent Walker such a wonderful testimony.. thank you! You’re so right it’s so great! There isn’t much info on living here I find tho.. probably because ppl are just doing there own thing up here and living peacefully! I wanted to know more before making the decision to move here but I’m glad I didn’t it without knowing much! Ha! My husband says he feels more at home then he ever has before! :-)

      @@LifeinYellowknife I think it's due to covid as there's nothing much to do without a boat or a quad etc.. I am from Vancouver island first time I have left home in many many years. It's the adjustment I'm not loving, more specifically lol #homesick

      @LifeinYellowknife  Před 4 lety +1

      D Dasilva no that totally makes sense!! It’s so hard with covid! Do you like hiking? We hike a lot and it’s beautiful but I like it a lot more then there is snow on the ground! Also I don’t think I would without my husband. Did you see the article about them having to shoot the bear at NJ Macpherson? We are really close and I take my kids to play there often so I was shocked! Apparently that’s not uncommon lol!!

    Hi Cassondra! Thanks for making such to-the-point, fun, and informative videos! I'm an RN from Ontario and would love to hear about your husband's experience working in Yellowknife right out of school. I'd be coming in with a few years' experience and am super curious as to what it can be like to work as a nurse up there!

      Hey there! Thanks so much! I’m glad you’re enjoying them! I really wish he would do a video on that because that seems to be a common question! I can tell you he has really enjoyed it so far. He enjoys the people
      he works with, he enjoyed being able to work in different areas of the hospital at first (but is now on medicine as per his request). He gets plenty of overtime and gets paid very well. Some
      difficult things he talks about are the actual hospital building (they have sewage come up though the drains and stuff often- it’s apparently called code brown lol) and occasionally says things about wishing they had things they needed like a rehab centre, etc- they send many ppl to Edmonton for treatments, surgeries etc. Hope that helps! :-)

      Yes lots of work not a lot of housing! Yes you must plug your car in and even then you sometimes have to pay to have it stored inside to “thaw out”. It’s mega annoying lol

      Life in Yellowknife
      It’s the worst decision that I left Yellowknife because in NS it’s like 15% sales tax and there it’s 5 and I am working in Walmart as a overnight Fullfillment I am getting paid 13.55 per hr if I would be there I will get paid 18 per hour that the difference as well tax its way more.
      By the way one of my cousin is there over there he is working in Tim Hortons.

    • @LifeinYellowknife
      @LifeinYellowknife  Před 4 lety +1

      celestin1984 hey there! I’ve never heard of a kitchen garden so I had to look it up but it seems like you’re just asking about an outdoor garden? I think it is certainly more difficult to grow things here because of the short growing season but it’s def possible! Many people around seem to have gardens!

      Riceachu yes for sure there are gun courses and guided tours for fishing (I’m not sure about hunting though). I don’t know about the dating scene but I imagine it’s not great because there aren’t many people but that’s a total guess!
