This was very inspirational! Like Spencer, I studied industrial design in undergrad and created this cool concept for a messenger bag and its companions. I loved working on it so much that I decided to start a brand and keep making bags. I've pushed it back too much for a while now, but I've decided to have something in hand by the end of the year. Like Spencer said, "Just start!"
Truly appreciate you all at the Futur for putting this together to inspire the rest of us.

Don't get me wrong I love the futur. This channel taught me a lot. But the summary of this video is: spawn in the USA, in a good family,
start your life with 2 amazing parents, in general have so much luck that 99.99% of the world population will never have... And you will do great! Really nothing surprising or inspiring here tbh. The guy doesn't even seem all this much considering his background and where he grew up, he's just a regular dude. Which is OK. But I don't know, maybe even Chris had different expectations about this. I prefer the other chats on this channel

We don’t get a choice on who are parents are or where we are born. Let’s leave that out of the equation. Spencer has a singular vision and focus. I think that’s cool.

Super inspirational for me too. Mr. Do, There are many subtle ways that your natural curiosity and interest in exploring what is interesting, this is one of the best interviews I've seen in a while. This guest, his story, staying committed to having him as a guest, and guiding the conversation to let the story come out while also keeping track of that balance to be hands off and steering makes me feel grateful that I caught this video. It's hard to explain how good the ideas in this interview are.

A great, interesting and inspirational interview. My father had a leather business from the 1950’s or earlier to about 1989 in Boston . He made leather brief cases and other items. I did not have the interest to take it over . I wish my father me and Spencer could have met . I have a Graphic Communications B.A.(Graphic Design) .

Soo cool man. Reminds me of San Diego in that time frame at my shop printing surf lams in Mission Beach at the Boardwalk. All the actionsports advancing around at the time. California lifestyle is all that fun and games in business. A happy adventure pushing limits. Great conversation. Well done. Thank you.

What a great talk, Chris! I love it when you talk to industrial designers, as I identify myself waving from graphic to start learning product/automotive design, but keeping a huge passion for graphic design. Bring more professionals from industrial and automotive design to have more of those insightful conversarions with! Allow me to suggest Frank Stephenson, former BMW designer, that would be quite a conversation. He got a really fun YT channel here.

Based on how often this guy thinks 'it's cool', he should start making winter clothes.
The best thing about this and the only thing that helped me learn something was Chris's ability to interview. When the interviewee brought up that people with a sports background have the best ability to learn things, Chris's approach was brilliant "I've never heard anyone say that before...".
I appreciate your guest's 'doer attitude' and it inspires me. Don't get me wrong, I don't wanna be rude towards anyone, but mostly this episode just pissed me off.
The majority of designers who are looking for their own path in the industry don't have starting points like this. This guy is the walking definition of a privileged person. A happy, intact and wealthy family, both parents have a designer background, a grandfather who is a TV star, a 'genius' and obviously loaded since he payed for his education just like that. On top of that dude find's a billionaire mentor and just flies to China to visit his factory and play some golf. Golf? Well, yeah, of couse! Afterall this guy grew up playing golf - just like any other regular guy. Not to mention that his golf buddy ended up funding his business.
And I get the feeling this guy doesn't even seem to understand the impact of his own starting points and even though I know it's not only about it - all the luck along the road to this day.

Video title doesn’t fit the content. The video is a biography, nothing wrong with that as people find inspiration in others journeys, but I feel the title is click bait & doesn’t sit right with the content.
I love your channel because it doesn’t usually do click bait titles. They’re usually honest & on point with the content.

@thefutur Chris do entirely means well, but he's very out of touch from people without privilege ($) or access. Most end up stuck working the circus, and few get the privilege of the hard work ever being recognized except by more work without increased pay.
I can appreciate that after many decades of success happening it can skew what's expected, but it's exceptionally rare.
See if you can find anyone born after 84 that without being exploited, abused, and without a random event shifting everything if you can find any that had their hardwork actually pay off.

Came to the comments to see if anyone else noticed. Incredibly dry. Dude seemed to go on and on about not so relevant info. And what kept getting me was how amazed he was at things he had done that really wasn’t all that amazing. Makes my personal experience seem superhuman!
