    Good video. One of the main benefits of Rocketlauncher for me is it's capability to decompress 7z files for any emulator.

      Yes I agree. There are a wealth of benefits Ive not covered too which is another reason RLauncher is so valuable

    Wanna know what would be awesome? A frontend with the flash of launchbox that uses libetro cores natively. Not only could it have all the flash of big box and rocketlauncher, it would also have the functionality of retroarch. You could set up controllers on the fly, manage save states, etc. Maybe it could also offer support for loading external emulators just like launchbox.

    What is the overlap with downloading all the videos, manuals, boxart, etc.? I Have LB with BB and RL, but have mostly been learning LB. I was afraid of downloading a ton of media and duplicating it. Having files in 2 different places

    So is your preference still launchbox/rocketlauncher/retroarch? I have so many setups from hyperspin to emulation station and frankly, ES is so amazing with just it and retroarch, but I want to integrate rgb control and the hyper pause features. GameEX has a good hyperpause type guides/manuals/control layout equvalent, and Hyperspin is the best looking. So I leave ES/RA on the RetroPie setup and am struggling for what to settle on with the PC high end setup.

    it brought me great benifits such as forgetting how to use rocket launcher and looking up tutorials and my nec turbografx games not emulating in rocketlauncher maybe though its because i deleted my turbografx 16x rar files for the games

    Can you make a video of how to add a fresh install of rocket launcher to an existing Launchbox setup.

    Im setting up RocketLauncher now to use with LaunchBox , only problem is the global emulators won't show up (even when i have global emulators.ini) if i point the active frontend to HyperSpin the list shows up

      colpipes1978 I use MESS for 5200. I see there's a new RetroArch core but it seems cumbersome.

      @colpipes1978  Před 7 lety

      Its what ever your happy with and used to. I use Mame as the latest version has MESS built in. Not tried the reroarch core yet (for 5200).

    Still trying to make time to give rocketlauncher a good go. Learnt rocketlauncher which seems so simple. Most of the points rocket launcher does. Like overlays. Probably be eating my words once i set it up.

      Most systems are straight forward like SNES and NES some can be tricky and some damn right frustrating ...lol

      colpipes1978 got a question. I downloaded hyperspin sega classics from arcade punks. Launchbox cant tell what the real games are called?. Just labels as the rom name. Aburner etc. I know i probably need an xml? Any tips?

    • @colpipes1978
      @colpipes1978  Před 7 lety

      stephen gilyeat re inport them and in the last screen make sure the MAME other emulators box is selected (can't remember the name of it) this should take you to another screen where you select clones or region. Should know what to do then

    I do agree. I like the bezels but I can do that in Retroarch but the fade screens are fantastic - especially on the CD based systems where loading times can be longer. The only thing I don't like is when modules conflict with some emulators. I was trying to set 3DO but the retroarch module wasn't compatible with my Retroarch install (latest version). Are you aware of any workarounds?

    • @colpipes1978
      @colpipes1978  Před 6 lety +2

      Depends on the exact issue to be honest. RL adds another layer of complexity but I think its worth it. You can either come onto my discord or try the RL forums

      Excellent, I'll ask on Discord tonight when I'm home and have more specific details about the issue :) Cheers

      I'm just now researching BigBox and haven't used it yet, but I've been setting up HyperSpin with RocketLauncher off-and-on for the past 4 years (yes... setting it up.... for years):
      I use RocketLauncher (RL) to load most systems through RetroArch (RA), but have also occasionally run into that problem with some RL modules not being up to date with some RA cores. For the systems where RL+RA don't work together, I have RL run the roms through a regular emulator (ie not RetroArch - something like FreeDO instead). Then for controls, I either set up that regular emulator's controls for a generic xbox controller, or have have RL run XPadder in the background for that emulator's controls.

    Is it still really needed nowadays with BigBox having gotten a lot better and having those features too?

    • @colpipes1978
      @colpipes1978  Před 2 lety

      Not as much but was relevant at the time. I still use it for 4:3 consoles that look better in my opinion with a bezel. Emulators like pcsx2 etc

    Hi, thanks for the great tutorial and rocket launcher justification ! I've only ever used Mame for emulation and im new to launchbox, I've purchased the lifetime updates and this has given me Big Box - my question is that all my systems whether started in launchbox or big box or hyper spin look terrible and i was wondering if i can enable a feature or setting so all emulators run with scanlines to smooth out the graphics ?

    • @DuckRotation
      @DuckRotation Před 5 lety

      You'll have to set up your different emulators before you start using them otherwise they'll be running on default settings

    I just downloaded rocketlauncher and Norton blocked it and said: rocketlauncher.exe is Trojan.Gen.8!cloud It was Red flagged High Risk!

    • @colpipes1978
      @colpipes1978  Před 7 lety

      +rwprime1 I can asure you this is clean and must be a false positive. You can go to rocketlauncher main site and download the from there

    • @rwprime1
      @rwprime1 Před 7 lety

      Thanks for the reply. I went to the rlauncher site and used this mirror along with the mega downloader:
      mega.nz/#!tdMW3RIB!LMPE-J-2I5BpFovnTnYy3RCjVMlf6klI_BJq_nu7pVE Let me just try the other mirror (mediafire) unless you think there is some other link to click. Hmm, I just downloaded from the other site (mediafire) and got the same thing, plus TrinetNtfs.dll and trinetntfs.dll were removed besides the rocketlauncher.exe

    • @colpipes1978
      @colpipes1978  Před 7 lety

      Thousands of people use this everyday. Its a false positive Can you submit a request to norton to check like you can on AVG and other Anti viruses.

    • @rwprime1
      @rwprime1 Před 7 lety

      Could I submit a request for a check to/by Norton, hmm, I don't know. Maybe I could look into that. It would take some time and I have a lot of irons in the fire right now - no promises. Right now, it's 5:42 AM and I gotta get to bed :)

    • @rwprime1
      @rwprime1 Před 7 lety

      Next day. So I sent Norton rocketlauncher.exe and got a robot email back that "for some reason, ThreatExpert failed to generate the report", so it then said if I wanted it investigated further to get in touch with them and they gave an email address to which I did respond and attached rocketlauncher.exe to the email. We'll see if they follow through. I told them thousands of people have used this program and that their program Red Flagged it as High Risk and removed it. So, they have the program and they have my email address. We'll see what happens. All the other files that Norton removed were "Medium" risk and I have no way of telling Norton to "Ask first" on Medium risk. I hate Norton by the way. It's a kludge. On my laptop, it'll spin up the fan(s), take the temp to TJMax and 20 minutes later tell me it removed two cookies - and I could be downloading something or doing something! I mean, how hard could it be to check for activity?
