    I rarely leave comments on videos, but I just had to say that I genuinely appreciate this very considered and thought out review of these hearing aids. Previously I was on the fence about these hearing aids, but now I’ve driven through straight through it lol. Thanks for this sharing this video :)

    Nick, Your review was instrumental in getting me to finally decide on Genesis. Three weeks wearing, I rewatched your video. I agree with all your pluses, with one more plus. I bought mine through Audibel (same price as independent audiologist in NYC) giving users access to a national network of audiologists and a four year warranty. I have called their general customer service number and applaud the quality of support provided. My account is shared with my audiologist and she was aware of the issues I had and how they were resolved. Regarding your cons - what a fair and accurate portrayal. I agree that streaming instrumental music is thin and disappointing, streaming vocal music was okay for my ear. In NYC, there can be static interference on phone calls, both inside and outside. I cannot put the phone in a pocket and chat without interference, I carry it closer to the hearing aids to minimize it. - Excellent presentation!

    Great review. I also have the Genesis AI 24 and agree it took more visits to get them dialed in. The out of the box fitting for me was very “lispie”. It is my understanding the Edge Mode is static from the time you engage it. So as the listening environment changes, the Edge Mode does not continuously adapt or adjust. You would need to “reset” the Edge Mode to the different listening environment. I agree these are much lighter in feel, a fantastic battery life and sweat proof (at least so far I have not had any issues with sweet which I had with with the Starkey Edge 2400’sI had previously). Thank you for the time to put the review together.

    • @fudgepopz
      @fudgepopz Před 11 měsíci +3

      Yeah. Wish this review could be updated. The edge mode is 100% a setting for your “current” environment and does not update without user input

    • @AudiologyServicesofWV
      @AudiologyServicesofWV Před 3 měsíci

      @@fudgepopz Good news! Edge Mode is being updated by the manufacturer to re-survey the environment because many folks were forgetting to disengage the feature when they left that environment. As an audiologist and hearing aid user - I regularly forget to turn off my Edge Mode. With an upcoming release, users can update through the manufacturer software or app to the new Edge Mode version. It is still recommended to *try* to remember to turn it off so that you can go back to your "Personal" program - however...it won't be as big of a deal, now!

    I just got the Genesis AI today to demo for 2 weeks before I go forward with them. I’m hoping it works! At first, Bluetooth was cutting in and out after trying to test the music app out. It hasn’t done that since. But background noise is to much for me and I’m not able to escape the full AC on blast while listening to music. Help with that area? Please!

    Which receiver power did you have fit? For example, if 40 gain gives you sound quality issues while streaming go to 50 gn and have everything reset to you audiogram. Mine sound great while streaming my rock videos. and movies. Streaming is a separate setting and program. That probably has to be turned up also and the mics “decreased” while on streaming.

    Nice review. Thanks. That's really unfortunate about having to turn on edge mode. Obviously it uses more power since it's doing more processing, and someone at Starkey thought people will be put off by the short battery life and hence this kind of kludgy fix. Let us decide! I don't mind changing batteries every day if I have to. And "double tap" sounds pretty lame. Come one, double tapping your ears? I have the IIC (no app) so that's what I'd have to do. Starkey makes great HAs, but on the UI side they kind of drop the ball. Like the phone tone thing they have to make volume and memory changes. I think somebody's brother in law is in charge of UI at Starkey. I am glad to hear your comment about "all the power" this HA has, which caused plosives to be a problem for you. Good you got that fixed. For me, that "problem" means the HA has a lot of CPU available to crank up the high frequencies (which, digiitally, require a lot more processing). That is good news. It means the "new processor "thing is not just hype. Zip is the place to get them (unless you're loaded with money). Where I am now, there is no Zip and I'd have to pay about $3K more to get them. Anyway, thanks again, you've convinced me to get these. I gotta find some way to keep edge mode on all the time. I program my HAs myself so I'll find out what can be done there. Hopefully, like you say, Starkey will hear users feedback and give the audiologist a way to turn them on as the default, battery life be what it may.

    • @zeeraViewer
      @zeeraViewer Před 6 měsíci

      @@richardcobb2852 I priced a pair at Zip Hearing that's online with local hearing aid dispensers and the price was something like 4600 for the pair. I called around various Starkey-recommended sellers and got quotes as high as 8,000. I think Zip has the best prices. One thing people don't consider enough is the quality of "fitting" you get, but my experience is that they are ALL pretty bad. So that led me to find the hardware and software and program my own. That's pretty extreme for most people, so what I would do is ask the hearing aid seller if you can use Starkey's "DIY-programming" tablet device (I forgot the exact name) where you can tweak the settings interactively while listening to speech or music or whatever.

    Hmmmm....my experience with these hearing aids differs quite a bit from yours. I've only had them a week but i find myself constantly tweaking them to try to improve the clarity. Quite frankly, they kind of suck. Perhaps this is because I have an android phone and its not really specifically made to work with Android?
    Regardless of what mode i choose (including Edge Mode) i find that the main issue is voice clarity. It's just not clear. My hearing loss is mild to moderate so its not secondary to a profound hearing loss.
    I'm still in the trial period for my Genesis AI 24's which is great because these are not for me. They are not even remotely worth their cost.
    I appreciate your review, though. Thanks.

    I'm giving up my Phonak Lumity 90Rs to get a pair of the new Genesis AI ITE hearing aids. The one feature I will miss the most is being able to be paired to eight devices and seamlessly move from one to another. The one thing I won't miss is the Phonak TV streamer. I sent the first one back for poor sound quality and the replacement is no better. I've got my fingers crossed.

      That’s probably a bad idea, I have the lumity and they’re great devices. The starkey igad a more tinny sound quality according to my audiologist.. i asked to try them but i was told im best off with the ones ive got,.. also, as a singer and musician, im absolutely in love with the automatic music setting, no other hearing aids have that, theyd had to be made manually is is never successful

      @@watermain48 ya, depends on how well they’re fitted as well.. what problems did you have with them? @watermain48 Před rokem +1

      @@kaylasmusic They were fitted utilizing real ear measurement and aligned really well with my audiogram.I don't listen to a lot of music anymore so I care much about that. For me, they don't do well in situations with a lot of background noise, unless I am using the Roger On device, which I don't always have on hand. The Lumitys are dismal in the wind and when I tried wearing a sock hat to lessen the wind noise, they kept turning on and off. I was having to change the wax guards every few days. The list goes on...they're just not a good fit for my needs.

    • @TheKurtLyon
      @TheKurtLyon Před rokem +1

      @watermain48 as a non musician/singer and currently wearing the Phonak Lumity I love connecting to multiple devices and they do well in a “normal” hearing environment. But I 100% agree with how terrible they are in the wind. My wind adjustment is 1 click away from max and they are still terrible in the wind. I have also had challenging issues with Bluetooth streaming volume levels as well. I work from home and stream a lot throughout my day and the volume levels are incredibly inconsistent. As an iPhone/Apple user I have found MFI HA’s seem to have worked best for me (I get that we are all diff). These Starkey’s are intriguing. Great review, great content.
