Widex Hearing Aids of 2024 [Reviews & Models]
In this video, we’ll help you navigate Widex’s two current lines of hearing aids: the Moment and the Evoke. We focus primarily on the Moment line, the recommended choice for most users unless you have single-sided deafness, asymmetrical hearing loss, or prefer a BTE style with a size 312 battery.
We'll guide you in choosing the right Moment hearing aid by discussing the different styles and technology levels. Starting with styles, we have four in-the-ear custom-made styles that only 3% of customers choose due to comfort and feature limitations. Most people (96%) prefer the six receiver-in-canal (RIC) styles, with only 1% opting for the larger behind-the-ear (BTE) styles.
Among the RIC styles, we break down your options:
RIC 10: The smallest, with a size 10 battery, no Bluetooth, and requires the ToneLink app or RC-DEX remote for adjustments.
RIC 312: Uses a size 312 battery, includes Bluetooth, and the Widex Moment app for easier adjustments.
sRIC: The rechargeable version of RIC 312, and the most popular choice among ZipHearing customers.
SmartRIC: The latest model with improved design, better wind noise reduction, enhanced battery life, and a mobile charger.
Once you've chosen a style, deciding on the technology level is the next step, detailed in another video linked here. Higher tech levels offer more features, with the 440 being the most popular.

Leah Ann's Oticon Real 1 miniRITE 312 (non-rechargeable) Review
Hi, thank you for uploading your personal review. I m a musician from Holland, Europe, with tinnitus and hearingloss. I wear for 14 years widex with satisfaction. On the moment a 5 year old evoke. Oticon and phonak are probably slightly better for speaking situations, but my piano sounds very very bad with them (though they have music mode, they manipulate the sound more, music sounds not natural). Streaming in stereo with the tv dex (classical music on youtube) is in my opinion very good. Its heaven, I dont get too tired by massive sounds. Listening with headphones or speakers is no option any more because of little hyperacuse
How it sound riding a bike?
I have not used them while riding a bike, but the ability to minimize wind noise is fantastic on the Oticon Intent, so I would imagine it would be a great experience! Head on over to the site to see the other features of the Oticon Intent! www.ziphearing.com/oticon-intent?

Happy to hear your excitement! I lick mine up in two day.
How do you not have The Oticon Intent?
It wasn’t out at the time this video was made.
why is my Phonak Lumity Hearing Aids stop working making me blow out the ear mold that procedure in not long lasting
Can Debbie share what her tinnitus frequency is / how high frequency is her hearing loss?
I read that these only work for up to 16 hours so is that true? What did you do if the hearing aid suddenly stopped and you were doing something important? And how long do you need to charge them for? I also read that the lithium batteries need to be changed by the manufactorer every once in a while..is that also true?? Thank you for your review
The length of time between charges can vary depending on what you are doing while using the hearing aids. If you are doing a lot of streaming from the phone, expect less battery life. However, if you are not doing much streaming of audio, then the battery life will be significantly longer! In my experience with the Lumity, i get far more than 16 hours of regular use between charges. Lithium Ion batteries do need to be replaced at some point, most users may need to have the batteries replaced at least once for the lifetime of the hearing aids. Thanks for the comment and be sure to check out the site for more info on battery life and usage! www.ziphearing.com/phonak-audeo-lumity?
O’s Fan, love it!! I just got a Nexia for my right ear after a CI in my left in March 2024. I have profound hearing loss, hence the reason for the CI. The Nexia is compatible with the CI. I am still learning how to use it . TY for the review !!!

I just got the over the ear genesis ai. I do not like over the ear. And the Bluetooth audio for phone calls and watching my tablet is horrible quality. So bad you cant stand to listen to it. And you cant make it sound better.iys just garbage no matter what. The wires and unit is always in the way of my hat and glasses and i cant get longer wires. So, i want to try the CIC rechargeable.
Hey there! Having the whole device in the ear canal certainly has benefits, and the lack of discomfort behind the ear is one of them! Be sure to head on over to the website to check out the signature series and maybe even place an order! www.ziphearing.com/starkey-signature-series?
Hearing aids do have the ability to hear from 20 to 20,000. When it comes to listening to music, they can be set up just like awesome in ear monitors. The richness and low end you describe that is missing when listening to music while streaming is because the audiologist has set it up to wear certain frequencies will not sound in your ears. If you had access to the software, you could adjust it yourself. Audiologist has decided that because you can’t hear 6000 Hz…. Then there is no reason to have 6000 Hz in the mix at all. The same with 100 or even 60 or 40.Hz. When hearing aid users can help the software to their hearing aids, things will truly change
Where does your hearing follow away on a frequency sweep? What does your hearing loss look like?
To protect my hearing aids when I’m out and about and not using them. What?
Absolutely! When I find myself in a situation where I cannot use the hearing aids (swimming, sleeping, etc) I like to know that they are protected in a case! Also, I have a very curious dog who likes to see how new things taste, so I would not want him to lick or bite my hearing aids when I am, temporarily, not using them. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I echo Nicks review. I have had my Lumity 70 HAa about 3 weeks. They don’t have all of the features as the Lumity 90 HAs. I though have the fitted dome ear inserts which I appreciate, most sound routed through the HA. I also considered Widex. Both are great, but liked the Bluetooth and Phone connection options.
The bluetooth and connectivity benefits of the lumity were the ultimate deciding factor in my decision! Thank you for watching and leaving a comment, we really appreciate it! Be sure to subscribe if you have not done so already! czcams.com/users/Ziphearing?sub_confirmaton=1
Fantastic review , im wearing the Oticon more 2's on both ears since 2021 and i thought to check what's new from Oticon nowdays. Loved the part where you mentioned if it is worth to upgrade from Real to intent because you know the price is not cheap. I tested the Real back in the day and i didnt notice a huge difference to be honest. Hard to decide if it's worth to look into upgrading to Intent.
Thank you for the kind words and the great comment! Our general "rule of thumb" is to look into upgrading if the new model is 2 generations newer. So, I think you may benefit from at least checking the Intent out! As always, keep in mind that ZipHearing has risk-free trials! @@Ziphearing Thank you so much for your comment. R
I was recommended the Genesis AI and I am coming from the Picasso. The Genesis is gonna be the ITE like my Picasso. My chief worry is the rechargeable battery setup. Is this something I should worry about in terms of battery life? It seems from reading the forums, it generally last a whole day, is that true? I take off my Picassos during lunch time for about an hour. How much charge is achieved with 1 hour? I'm excited a bit but also worried also going to a rechargeable. My audiologist was surprised I was approved for it and she went with the signature series due to budgetary reasons.
I am so glad to hear you are doing some research before jumping into a new hearing aid! I think you will be amazed at the battery life on the genesis AI. Most likely, you wont even have to think about charging them during your lunch time, these should have no problem providing hearing assistance for the entire day! Feel free to go watch our review video and find out more! czcams.com/video/RQCySS_l4iY/video.html
@Ziphearing Good morning! Thank you kindly for taking the time to answer my question. Do you know if there is a remote option like the Picasso has the Surflink mobile? I understand that the Genesis AI uses the phone app, but I use my remote quite a lot for various setups. Reading the Starkey website, I'm not seeing a remote option. Thank you again.
@prdubi I am fairly certain there is a remote that would suit your needs! Go check the link below to find it on the ZipHearing website! Scroll down to the "apps and accessories" portion. www.ziphearing.com/starkey-genesis-ai?
Does it take chargable battery or changeable?

Great video, thanks! Looking at upgrading my 2 year old Unitrons. Looks like I've found my next ones. One point, rechargeable batteries have a habit of lasting less time per charge over time. however, with the already surplus run-time these have, seems that won't be a problem.
You definitely have a point there, but like you said, with the battery life on these you probably won't have to charge them as frequently. Thanks for leaving a comment and be sure to check out the site to get all the info you can about your future hearing aids! www.ziphearing.com/resound-nexia?
Great review. It is very helpful. I am in the process of testing a REAL 1 - an upgrade over a top level 7 year old Oticon OPN. Strangely my audiologist never told me about the INTENT as an option. I asked to trial the latest technology and they suggested a REAL 1. Music is an important thing for me - I sing in an acapella choir- play the piano and guitar. Communicating in noisy environments is not a top priority for me. I still find the piano a bit reverby especially single notes. However it would seem from what you the extra cost of the INTENT over the REAL 1 may not be worth it. I have a SAMSUNG S21 and I find the REAL 1 app works perfectly with it including streaming.
The wonderful thing about the world of hearing aids is that EVERYONE is entitled to their own opinions and preferences! What is appealing to me may not be appealing to you, and that is totally OK! I just got a pair of the Oticon Intent 1 four days ago. I originally bought a pair of a different brand (top 3-4), but just didn't like them. I'm already enjoying these so much more and even with the rechargeable pair, after wearing them for 14 hours already today, still have 13hrs of charge left. Those numbers are pretty consistent so far. As for my other pair, they are battery, not rechargeable, not even close as far as comfort goes and are now officially my backup pair, should I need one. Its a shame that I have only had that pair for 3 or 4 months and I didn't hesitate to move away from them.
First of all, I am so happy to hear that you have found a set of hearing aids that you are happy with! We all have our own journeys with hearing aids, and some have more twists and turns than others. I don't think its right that they will connect to 'any' Mac desktop (4:17). MFi hearing aids won't connect directly to my 2019 iMac, for example, because it does not have an M1 or M2 chip.
That is a really good point! It certainly seems like I misspoke when I said "any", I really should have said "any Mac with an M-series chip". Thank you for the great input, I will try not to make the same error again!
You mention hearing aid specialist and audiologist. I'm wondering if the services provided by a hearing aid specialist are on par with the Doctor of Audiology (AUD)? Seems like pretty much anyone can be a hearing aid specialist with some training, but to get the AUD degree requires a lot more schooling, particularly is hearing beyond hearing aids.
That depends so there's a slight difference between the two so a hearing aid specialist programs your hearing aids and a few other things an audiologist by trade runs the hearing tests
There is certainly a distinction between an Audiologist and a Hearing Specialist. The Audiologist will be able to perform hearing examinations and diagnose a hearing loss. The hearing specialist is more focused on fitting and programming hearing aid technologies. With training, knowledge, and experience a hearing specialist will be able to provide a level of expertise and service that will be identical to an audiologist. Both will use the same computer programs, and devices to tune your hearing aids for your specific situation. Head on over to the site and check out our "How it Works" page with a great Q&A section! www.ziphearing.com/#how-it-works-section?

I’m getting my first hearing aids in 3 weeks. Getting the Oticon Intent 1. The audiologist told me these were just released last month. I suffer from severe sensorineural high frequency hearing loss and I’ve been putting it off for many years. 😱 Did you get the mini microphone with clip and tv adapter? Also, will my hearing get worse from wearing hearing aids? Thanks!
Thanks for leaving a comment! Let's dive into these questions! 1. Congrats on the new hearing aids! Welcome to the club! 2. Yes, these hearing are very new to the market and are already extremely popular! 3. No, I did not get the microphone or the tv adaptor. You will probably not need the microphone, but you can always revisit this if you feel the need to. The TV adaptor is actually really cool! I have used them with other devices and thoroughly enjoyed them! 4. Your hearing will not get worse from using hearing aids. Wow Nick, I have never seen a video from anyone that actually explains things from the perspective of never having used hearing aids and what to expect. Hats off to you my friend for all this insight. I'm going to check out ziphearing. I'm hoping to get some hearing aids soon. On top of losing those extremely important frequencies to perceiving the consonants I have tinnitus. Add to that I am a musician that plays live gigs and a songwriter that records in a studio and mixes them as well. A tall order for anyone especially when retired and have limited insurance coverage to pay for these. But oh sooo looking forward to hearing again all the things I have lost over the years.

My advice is go to doctors and get referred to an Audiologist at the Audiology dept at hospital. They are medically trained. The staff at a hearing aid shop may not be medically trained.
I would definitely agree that going to an audiologist is a very good idea when it comes to hearing tests and overall hearing health. However, I have found that purchasing hearing aids through an audiologist is one of the more expensive options. They will most likely tell you that the price reflects the support and service for a certain number of years, but places like ZipHearing will provide you with a hearing specialist close to your location that will provide the same level of supports and services. Also, did I forget to mention that ZipHearing could save you thousands of dollars, like they saved me?! Head on over to the site and check out pricing and availability! www.ziphearing.com/?
Thank you for Steve's review. I got my Oticon Real 1 miniRITE R and Oticon CROS PX(for BICROS) early last month, and what a game changer they have been. I can now easily hear what my wife is saying when we're outside walking our dogs. In loud, crowded restaurant settings, it's still somewhat of a challenge, but I can now hear most of what people across the table from me are saying. I'm very pleased with my Oticon aids, though, if I'm being completely honest, I wish that Oticon would improve their Companion app. It's a little lacking in their settings for different environments.
We are so happy to hear that you are enjoying your experience with the Real 1's! In my experience, many of these hearing aid companies are constantly improving on their companion apps, fixing bugs and increasing stability. However, there aren't many significant jumps when it comes to functionality and customization. Hopefully, oticon can push an update in the future that will add to your positive experience with the company! I have opn1 and More1 aids. I think the streaming sound is pretty good. They don’t make buds or headphones loud enough for me. Are the Real’s at least as good in terms of streaming audio quality? My VA audiologist asked me if I want the Real’s ot Intent model. Sounds like Intent is the way to go. Following a conversation with any sort of background noise is nearly impossible for me as one of my ears is nearly dead.
I would always recommend going with the latest model, due to more advanced technologies and connectivity upgrades. The streaming audio quality should be better due to a newer and more advanced bluetooth standard that is used for connection. How did you get a discount on the Starkey Signature Series Hearing Aids?
So, to clarify, when I talk about saving money on hearing aids through ZipHearing it is compared to the amount a person would be expected to pay if they were to purchase through an audiologist. The amount of savings will vary depending on a variety of reasons, but in general, one can expect to save quite a bit of money when using ZipHearing! What do the speech bubble icons on chart represent?
Hi there! The speech bubbles represent the ability for the device to utilize speech intelligibility in that particular setting. Head on over to the ZipHearing site and scroll down a bit to see the "Widex Sound Classes" info under the helpful resources! www.ziphearing.com/widex-moment?
