    AE511: This really ties in all the past couple of weeks of lectures into designing control systems. It's pretty crazy how all the manual work we have done making the bode plots and root locus is done with the control system designer tool in matlab. It's a great tool in a situation where you are given design requirements and need to develop the system on the fly with said requirements in mind!

    First of all, thank you for your effort, your videos are just amazing! I have a question concerning the controlSystemDesigner. Everything worked fine while I used it for PTn-Plants. But it doesn´t seem to work properly with ITn-Plants. I tried a fairy simple IT1-Transfer Function for my linear actuator I want to control and while the step resonse in Matlab (using step()) looked as expected, the step response in the csd did not look any similar. It doesn´t look like the typical ITn-response at all.
    Do you have any experience with that?

    AE511. What happens if you have conflicting requirements that over constrain the system? Does this cause an error with Control System Designer or are the requirements that are added to the plots just acting like guidelines?

    • @ChristopherLum
      @ChristopherLum  Před 5 lety

      Great question. These regions are more like guideline. There is nothing stopping you from adding too many constraints and leaving you with no solutions. In that case, you'll need to relax or remove some constraints.

    However, what is the theoretical way to find the value of C ? Suppose, for System = (s+3)/((s+1)*(s+4)*(s+5)*(s^2+4*s+5)), I have to design a controller "C" to ensure rise time less than 3 sec and overshoot less than 5%. Considering F( input) = 1 and H =1.
