Nothing bad to say about the sponsor product, but I HATE the term "solar generator." It is not a generator. It is a storage battery. It uses a solar array to charge a battery. There is no generating happening. If you are trying to cross-sell to people who use generators, educate them, don't just pander.

This was amazing 💖 I RARELY see vanlifers with illness or health issues and I have a chronic illness and this has been my dream since I was a teenager. I get psyched out sometimes because even though I did move out on my own, I've still always had that one solid spot to go to when I'm done backpacking or traveling. When I get really sick I regret NOT buying a van when I was healthier... BUT I'm motivated again. I am! I want to get my van and see all the things😭✨️ Thank you!
I have chronic illness and live this way, and know other people with bad health and chronic illness who live off grid too. You can do it!

I really like your down to earth take on things. A lot of the van tours I see are so romanticized and exaggerated imo. You made this video to show people what you really love to do, without all the fuss. I think your build is a reflection of your personality, no fuss, practical, sturdy, calm. It looks so homey. Your sweet dog completes the picture.
They're exaggerated because they're nice. People build what they want and what they can afford. There's no wrong way to do it.

The reality is that we can choose to see anything as a process instead of a problem. That’s why things that we may see as a problem get worked out over time. May all of your processes work out for the best.
Love the build and specially loved how he actually gave us a really quick and informative tour instead of going on and on about every little thing that he stores in the van...it always annoys me when people name every single item they keep inside of their drawers

Stress is always present... it's a matter of choosing what kind you want to deal with...that said, I've lived in my car before...I didn't have even half the stress I had with living in a apartment or roommates. Van life all day any day!

Bro that toilet hideaway is amazing. Lol. I see some people building these nice pretty big campers but don’t build or have a shower or toilet. The ones that do are usually squished against other shit.

Your van doesn't have a dorky name, it's built to be enjoyable but practical, you're explanations on construction and layout are straight forward and easy to understand, and you haul your dog up and down a ladder like a gentle sack of potatoes. Job well done, continue on sir.

Great job man. I’m divorced, moved to Maine. Living in a cargo trailer that pales in comparison to this. Trying to find the knowledge and ability and space to start my own projects like this. Would like to do it for a living. Currently work two 40 hours jobs and it’s killing me. Going to keep pushing and try to learn and achieve goals like this. Beautiful work and I’m sure it’s going to help people like me in need of a decent place to live because we all know housing market is crazy and it’s only getting harder to live nowadays. Way to go working through your cancer. Makes all this that much more amazing. Great job bud
Seems most honest good people are going through big heaps of shit at the moment, best we can do is keep moving forward and that’ll just naturally balance itself out.
The Wave heaters typically specify clearance of a minimum of 30 inches from the front of the unit from any combustible materials.
I would suggest relocation the heater. (Possibly mounted underneath the hatch that connect the front and back of van, facing backwards, down the aisle)
Beautiful vanbuild, very cosy. I really, really love your bookshelf. As a fanatic reader myself, and traveling in a ProMaster City type van, I usually take one physical book with me apart from my loaded Kindle.

You're a good carpenter. I love the wood & how cozy it is. The only thing that concerns me is the propane tank location and small size. I know that you mentioned it's vented, but I believe it's supposed to be mounted outside. (Please get a CO2 detector.) Also, as a lone wildlife photog (like my brother in CO), I hope you also keep a powerful pewpew with you at all times, as well as a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB). It could save your life in the wild if you become injured or lost, or in your rig if you end up in a life/death situation. (especially in the Winter) They work off of satellites, and will send your GPS coordinates to authorities. They're very cheap now. Stay safe out there!

Very nice build! Really like the wood used. Part of the issue of weight up high is vehicle stability (your books). This is part of why the OEM does not want much weight on a roof rack. As an experienced van builder you most likely know this, but many people getting started may not.
Beautiful build. I'm most likely going to be getting a 2022 Promaster 2500 in the coming weeks myself, after my house sells and I have the money in the bank to start the process. Really just looking forward to not being tied to one place anymore, freedom to go and photograph what I want, where I want, and change it all up on a whim. So many choices on how to go about it that it's almost overwhelming, but a lot of fun designing the interior at the same time. Definitely like the flip up access to the cooler better that the slide out design. Less concern about the cord getting hung up, pull out, pinched, etc.

If you had a couple of fold down bar stools the storage thing that pulls out could be used as a table- play a board game, do a jigsaw, sewing machine stand, and of course outdoor dining- even in the rain, just hang a tarp over the two doors! You could have it velcroed onto the roof when in use and weight or tie down both sides and even have a piece thats clear plastic at the side so rain doesnt get in. It would be easy enough to diy

You had me at "bookshelf"! That is my biggest concern in building a van as I am an avid reader and love having 15 or 20 books going at the same time along with a massive TBR pile.
Great video. What a wonderful tour I really like your van build is definitely different than others. I like to see that wall in between the cab and the van blocked off it has a lot of differences that are really unique.

I'm sorry to hear about the cancer brother many wishes of health and blessings to you, I've been in and out of the hospital this year it's scary when it comes to health it's coming in between my job I've been thinking of doing a box truck or van living myself now
Very nice. I love the log cabin look. It's so cozy. Love the bookshelf and the kitchen area. However, this is just me talking, I would have included a small shower.
This build is spectacular! It is earthy with Ball jars and that can't be beat! Travis, you did an outstanding job on the build and the tour.
It is absolutely true with a diesel heater. I have one in my van, and it requires service every winter season--spend about $50-$60 on supply for each service interval if I do it on my own, more if I have someone else to do it. Love the portable propane heater and they are probably much more efficient in high altitudes. My Espar heater struggle in high altitudes.
Make sure to get a Carbon Monoxide sensor. Very nearly died in a van with a propane radiant heater running inside.
