Just one minor point: it wasn't his choice of "older Christian songs" that wrecked the audition. Some of those tunes are timeless. Go Down Moses, I'll Fly Away, Amazing Grace, It Is Well With My Soul, How Great Thou Art, etc. Those are all great songs, BUT they only sound good if sung by someone who can sing. Mr. Lewis just isn't one of those people.
