Because i think alot of times some of these people have average but not too bad voices or sung in a choir where they can blend in singing so most of they lives people and family told them they have a "nice voice" or are good singers and to find out at the very last minute their not , kills them
Some people sing poorly because they choose a song that doesn’t go with their vocal range, but in her case, she already has a bad voice so nothing she sings would sound good
This is very painful. It makes me very sad because you want them to do good and it hurts when you hear them do poorly. And even more so when they are told they did bad. :(

If the guy took some lessons he could actually probably not be bad. All he had was pitch problems and lack of technique. Fix that and he wouldn't be half bad.
The guy you are talking about has no sense of control in his voice. Even if he has an ok ear and gets all the pitches right, it will still be a straight no from all the judges. He was just straight up hollering and yelling the song to the listeners, and I do not think anyone out there would want to hear a whole CD of him just screaming his tunes.
