First time for years that I am excited for Modo again. Looks like it is back on the menu. Can’t wait to try it.
Were you unsatisfied with modo?
@@AlexandreAlezzia Just not excited. Especially as a Mac user. The current roadmap gives the impression that Foundry actually cares about Modo‘s core values now.
Don’t bother Modo has become a very unfunny joke. This version is no different to previous versions, buggy and unstable.
But it's expensive and subscription
@@MAXRAY-bw9kv Annual maintenance is 439 euros, which is around 36 euros a month (note that Octane subscription alone is 20 euros a month) so personally I don't find this combo bad at all at this pricing tbh
Congrats on the release! Massive thanks to the entire Modo dev team for all the work they put into the latest release... much appreciated!
I've used Modo since 2008, and am looking forward to version 17 being a major step forward in performance.
Performance improvements are marginal but are overshadowed by all the remaining bugs and constant crashes. 17 is just The Emperors new clothes.
@@foxtrotalpha4346 Foundry has laid out the plan for Modo 17, and this is only step one of several future versions. I'm happy to see what they're doing. I've been using Modo since version 302, and Modo is massively more powerful than it's been in every past iteration. I was also on the beta team for a couple of years, and enjoyed that too. Of course, you don't have to share my enthusiasm though... Your choice. :)
Congrats on the solid release! There are exciting times ahead considering this is the start of the performance update and all other great features for the 17 series.
Great to see Modo back in action
This looks great, performance improvements are huge! One of the most exciting Modo updates I've seen in a number of years.
modo is one of the best software that I learn I happy that they still putting out some great work!
About time, god I miss this application. Well done !
To infinity and beyond from here boiz! Congrats to the Foundry team!
Congrats all Modo users! Great release!
It really isn’t….. it’s as bad as every version since 701. Not worth the money.
Looking good! Will be happy to renew my maintenance this year based on these improvements.
Many congratulations 🎉
Congratulations! Looks like a solid release:)
Unfortunately it’s the same old bug ridden, unstable mess.
Thanks for the Octane Renderer's native integration...
I forgot this software still exist :)) Very nostalgic
Looks amazing!! Looking forward to driving it.
From the whole update only octane renderer is interesting, it is interesting to see how convenient it is inside modo
I'm excited to check it out.
such a cool update ! Modo rocks!
Blender needs competition Modo well became a good software in few years 👏
Haha how does Blender need competition when it still ways off from even catching up to the industry standard DCC's?
Maaan, Modo has such a beautiful UI, i think its the best looking UI amongst 3d softwares
No, C4D have best UI
@@SupSupa10the new UI which is a clone of Blenders UI? I see ….
@@vsmkame It's not. Just same tone. But it worse than ever. Because old UI is much better with different Reasonable and useful colors icon.
@@SupSupa10 I agree. The older C4D UI was a lot better.
UI is as good as others but now better. No point having a good UI if the core program is sun stable and bug ridden as this version still is.
So Octane is embedded in Modo?
Yup! Octane prime
Yes, Octane is included and is very good but the experience is let done by Modo’s pathetic node system. Badly devised and painful to use.
@@JTabtabai sweet so they didn't use cycles Afterall lol yayyyy!!
Most underrated 3D tool in the industry.
This is awesome!!!!
Smoother operation. The interface is less boring and extends to CAD modeling and extends the modeling capabilities that other software already has that's all you need to do!!! DO IT!!
Having a third party renderer seems cool for none experienced people, but for pros, that means that the RnD wasn't able to keep up, and they had to get external help.
Third party means potential future licences issues, that bugs will be fixed slower because the 2 dev teams will point out each other, that means less integrated solution, that means duplicated nodes and features inside the software rather than one working solution...etc
Love OTOY thats why i invested big in RENDER
More courses and tutorials are needed
Wow so moving simple things could be like 3fps in previous Modo?
Only heavy things, the demos here make old modo look slower than it actually was. Modo geometry and viewport performance was always about on par with blender (Maybe slightly more responsive with heavy geo than Blender) which isn't amazing, but 17 is a huge improvement
so cool, but i still wish if nuke was a bit cheap
Cool but is it still twice the price of other 3d softwares monthly subscription fee?
Like yeah!
Yeyyy
I was a huge fan of MODO until release 11, which turned me off from the direction of the program as I saw it lagging behind the industry. This version looks very good and got me excited again, but my main hesitation is still, what about character animation? I went back to Maya and Blender for character work and for general CG production, but would love to know some specifics about any improvements to character animation in MODO for the future.
Don’t do it…. I personally think Modo’s slow and painful death started at 701. It’s now so far behind other options it’s become laughable. I predict Modo will become another Lightwave, small niche user base that nobody cares about anymore. The Foundry has run Modo into the ground, just a money grab now. Bug ridden and unstable.
I got a trial and it crashed when switching to vertex mode on 200 poly model. Not useable, which is a shame.
why does octane render need internet connection to work?
You havent touched haunted bugs. Inadequacy!
Never heard of it before.
What is the future of 3d software ai fact
Now how these software will catch the blender longrun
I just came here for nostalgia
Will Foundry now update Modo Indie on Steam?
I hope so
They should put Nuke indie also on Steam
Would love to see an update on Indie or just know if I should stop caring.
@@smilesprouniverse Nuke has a non commercial and indie license
А в стиме обновоение MODO инди будет?
а какая там сейчас?
@@vi8799 там сейчас старая версия. Два года вроде как не было обновлений. Что крайне печально.
We need to save modo
It'd be nice if the FBX animation export worked. Sadly it does not. Ingoing not outgoing.
(2:45) Are you sure octane prime is an offline render? Because octane's site says you need to stay logged in to use Prime. Or do you mean local render but you still need to be connected to the internet? Most people see the word "offline" as completely disconnected from the internet.
Offline rendering means not rendering realtime, like in games or open GL viewport
Subscription ruined it... pls bring back perpetual license .
they delivered.
Indeed, another unstable version of Modo.
RIP Modo
I hope they implemented a proper Node based shader system an dumped that horrible “material stack” system of the past.
Loads of people love the shader tree. But yeah, Modo has had node based shading for a long time, plus octane also uses node based shading
@@EightNineOne I dropped out of Modo way back on version 8
good to know they updated their Shader system though. .
The shader tree works fine but there is no reason to use the native renderer now that Octane is included. I've used Octane for a few years now and the Modo renderer is a joke by comparison.
The shader tree was never great and node based systems like Octane are far better, unfortunately how nodes are handled in Modo makes it painful and frustrating to use.
@@foxtrotalpha4346 I don't mind it, could be better, needs a bit of a UX pass but could be worse. I didn't mind the shader tree, but nodes are the one IMO
Solid update. Thanks to the developers!
Modo is still, as always, the cutting edge software for direct poly modeling. With the new viewport improvements, it's a diamond in the rough.
I love this software.
I'm very sad that it is not promoted among beginners. Weak marketing(
All beginners immediately go to blender because it is on the rumor, but in my opinion blender is much less functional than modo.
Blender blows Modo out of the water in so many areas . Beginners don’t use Modo because it’s overpriced and there is a serious lack of tutorials compared to Blender. The Blender community is far stronger than Modo’s incestuous family.
Sorry that yellow transition is a little irritating, it would be fine just to time the cuts to the music. That aside congrats on hopefully a new start for Modo 🎉
this is.. just too late... 😂
Not having used Modo in more than 10 years I find that the Animation examples are still laughable on how BAD they look... that character at minute 1.35 example is something taken out of 1994? Still the movement of the arm is so jerky that I had to rewind several times to believe what I was watching.
I have been using Modo for the last 10 years and its animation abilities are a joke but not as bad as its dynamics and physics. Modo was a good, solid, modeller with good UV mapping but due to under development it’s now become a horrible mess, ridden with bugs and totally unstable. Modo 17 was heralded as the new big thing but it’s nothing but a disappointment.
i want to be a ceo of this company , nothing impressive
Nothing new, it`s only begining )
Unusable. It is unacceptable that they have the guts to charge for this. Used to be a modo believer, but I give up.
gratz, Blender is better and free. thanks
Its only free because some of us pay for it.
@@user-kr4rk1pv6e you pay for it?
вообще не угадал, совсем не лучше
So why are you here? Just to troll?
@@AlphaGeekgirl just giving my opinion
way to expensive, not a big strong community in any field, UI from the 1990's, addons not affordable, software changes and updates are weak, handling very slow,.... not mine
Ui from the 90s? You're kidding... have you ever used it?
yes! long enough.@@lucagiarrettino1545
how much does it cost now?
Blender still much better.
Try making game ready models in it.
Houdini is MUCH better than Blender for that matter, but we're talking about Modo here and these types of comments make me think that adolescence in this age must be boring...
@@lucagiarrettino1545Nah. These guys are the ones who likely only know how to create a cube.
Totally agree, Modo was better until The Foundry got its hands on it. Under development of Modo and the continued improvement of Blender has now made Blender a better product especially as it’s free. I have now dumped Modo and moved all development work to Blender and as a result getting better renders. Modo is dying on its feet.
