Congrats on expanding the channel and hiring Charlie. I have a feeling you'll gain a bunch of new subscribers once your Bronco arrives, so this will be great for the current builds and the future.
Sarah i must say you are one of the prettiest Auto/ Truck Mechanics on CZcams i like your old nonsense ,GoGet them Attitude and i got a kick out of using the 1 inch Impact Wrench with pretty Manicuured Red nails
Charlie teaches mechanical engineering? RESPECT!!!
Giving me too much credit lol, I teach in the Automated Industrial Technology department at the local community college
@@ApeShift So? I respected my professors at community college as much as I respect my teachers in my University. Teaching no matter the subject or place is something to take pride in.
@@santibanez91 oh for sure lol, I just meant she made it sound so fancy and important haha.
@@santibanez91 You seem so much more practical and hands-on than an engineering professor anyways. I've known a few engineering profs who got their hands dirty, but not many.
@@bbbl67 And that usually makes a better teacher too, or at least gives a real life experience on how things REALLY work.
It's like fate! You found the perfect parts car that is going to make your grandma's truck go for decades more. Best wishes.
Glad you'll have some help and best of luck to Charlie!
Thank you for this video. I really needed it today after getting chewed out at home, hearing a friend died of covid and many more friends and family facing a hurricane next door in Louisiana. You rock.
Charlie will be a great addition, with him helping, you won't be stressed as much and your projects will definitely progress smoother and a bit quicker.
That frame is looking pretty clean. Can’t wait for it to be Sarah-n-Clean. That is going to be one sweet truck 🛻 when it’s done.
Sarah-n-Cleaned should be her third channel where it's basically a detailing video, or just automotive cleaning ASMR. Mmmmmmmmmm
I’m so glad Charlie could quit his job and help you more. That Ranger is going to be mint when you get done with it. They are indestructible as it is. Keep up the great work Sarah. It’s almost time for a Little Sarah update if you can.
The Ranger will be better than new once Sarah is done with it.
That frame is going to be better than new with the sandblast and powder coat! BTW, after watching you turn yourself into a pretzel in that desert heat to get the work accomplished AND to film this video… few people work as hard as you as a YT creator. Thanks! 👍
Really enjoying the Ranger restoration content!
At nascar tech, they made us take the front end of a ranger apart n put it back together and timed us. So simple. This is prolly your easiest project car yet lol.
Deep respect to you, Charlie and anyone else working when it's so hot, even in the shade. I find it hard to leave my armchair, let alone do stuff in real life, unless conditions are perfect..! Maybe tomorrow..🤔
Sounds like me. I'm 78 and been retired 6 years now from floor covering. Always liked working on my old cars, had a million of them. Still have all my tools in the garage and have fun working on my 03 Durango 4WD , and 04 Audi Quatro., but only if the weathers right, and the beer is cold!! My 1st. time to this channel. I'll be back!
Charlie is the Gandalf of the mechanical world; sage knowledge of mechanical wizardry, can conjure mighty machines of power to do his bidding, and proudly wears a heroic beard of distinction. None shall pass, indeed.
I'm crying because I need that cab and and even a frame, would love to return it back to Canada.
Come get the cab then!
@@SarahnTuned Wish I could.
Literally my week is spent looking forward to your new videos thanks so much for all your recent stuff really enjoyed the road trips. You'll be at 500k in no time
Yesterday
This project is really coming along! I'm glad Charlie is there for you. You deserve it!
I’m doing the same thing with a Bronco II. I dread it, but it has do be done. A/C lines, brake lines, steering column, fuel lines, accelerator cables, brake booster, wiring harness, etc.
People will pay big money for those, now that the new ones are out.
@@Mr.Ramirez95 I’ve heard the same thing.
awesome Video Sarah! and I like the Idea of flipping between projects too. also glad that you found someone willing to help you with your projects as well. Just remember to pace yourself, and remember that Sarah needs "Sarah time" away from youtube as well.
Love the direction you're going with the ranger. Excited to see the swap.
Charlie back on the team, awesome, I wish you both great successes in the future, remember code words "One" and "consciousness".
You're amazing Sarah. I love how you deal with "the elements": tools, temperature, rust, and lizards.
I'd like to see you discuss how you keep track of the bolts and the parts from the two vehicles as you're doing the teardown.
Hi there. I have a Ranger myself that I bought in a bad shape and became a project I love. Enjoy a lot watching you enjoying yourself immersed in your project.
Great vid! You may want to save that bed and your other frame rails. A matching expedition-style trailer would be a cool build especially if it had a removable camper! Just a suggestion (once you sell or give it away, thats it!).
Cool idea, bed matching trailer would be sweet
My best friend in high school had a ranger pickup that we bombed around MN in the winter. It was an absolute blast. This series is top-notch!
Charlie my hat is off to you! You're always there to help
You are a hard worker thats for sure
I am happy to see Charlie involved in this project as a tribute to your Grandma.
One well intendedrecommendation: put down in writing what this partnership or collaboration entails, preferably in a formal document. (Sarah already has a thriving channel, and if by any chance they decide to part ways some time in the future it would be much better for both of them to have things set straight from the beginning). We all have probably heard of many situations or parnerships that ended in a sour note… Best of wishes for both of them.
@@jpcheco I don't know if you are aware but Sarah and Charlie collaborated very early on her channel. Look at the first episodes of Mr. Dos...
Very nice Sarah. Don't be afraid of firing up the torch to heat up the nuts. Let the torch be your friend. Otherwise it looks like you did just fine.
Having some help will make a HUGE difference, congratulations to you both!
I love doing projects like this, but that makes sense, since i’ve been a mechanic for 40+ years and done dozens of my own.
POR-15 the frame. I suspect the cable at 6:50 is the electrical ground from the cab to the frame.
This is gonna be such a cool project. Looking forward to seeing the resto process.
I had a Mazda/Ranger as my daily driver from when it was new in 94 up until 2007. One thing you should check is the gas tank, a crack formed and I was unable to fix it. Ended up getting a new tank for $500 (back then). Same thing happened to my neighbor's Ranger. Right before I traded it in for the Tundra, we took it to his shop and swapped tanks. Also took my rear sway bar since his didn't have one.
Welcome back to actually restoring vehicles! It's great to see you back to where you started! Great video!
This video had the type of content that made me subscribe to your channel. Heck yea ... heavy equipment, air-powered tools, cranes, power washer, rust flying, and even a little lizard that sorta looks like a scorpion. Well done Sarah, you're making your Grandma very proud. Now how about my idea of stuffing a supercharged VR6 into that TT? 😁
You should film some of Charlie's builds on your channel. You two are a force together. His skills compliment yours. Such hard work you've done in the heat. I envy you such energy. I'm 79 yrs old and get tired just watching you guys. Another great video. Can't wait for the TT content, I once owned the 225 version of your car.
You seem very happy and relaxed. So happy for you. Keep up the great work!
Stumbled on to this video to hear you were saving your Grandma's truck and that concept pulled me in. Then I see a lady just doing it to save Grandma's truck. Well spoken, interesting and no drama. How refreshing. Take care D
This is the best project yet looking forward to seeing the great work you and charley will do to that truck your grandmother is looking down on you from heven
Sweet! Grams Ranger is moving forward! Looking forward to this build! Thanks Sarah! 👍😎
Just came across your channel, and subscribed. Great project! The nurse in me has to say this. Please, please, please wear some safety glasses, and protect those beautiful eyes. End of PSA. 😎
I am excited for your review on the new frontier.
Congrats on the new boy friend!
I've been out of the AF for almost 20 years, and I just referred to AGE equipment yesterday while talking about airline ground crews. Call it whatever you want, Sarah!
Very determined lady! Treat her nicely!
OMG! I think that proves it! That "cannon plug" as you called it on the firewall. I helped swap a door on a 99 or so Ford explorer and they literally used one of those entire barrel connectors for the door wiring connector by the hinge! It was like a 48 way connector and they used like 18 of the sockets. I was telling my friends that I think it was literally a bulkhead connector that they reused for the door because it had so many wiring connections. I was like, you could literally take an Explorer door and use this to wire a race car, hahaha. That literally looks like the same connector! I knew it must be an engine bay plug too. I couldn't believe they would use such an expensive and beefy connector for the door, hahaha. Then they were so cheap they only used 3/4 screws for the door speakers. So bizarre, Ford. Wonder if they had made tons of them and then switched bulkhead designs, but still wanted to use the connector. Sorry for the rant. I just love random vehicle info. Hope the sponsorship works out! Can't wait to see the TT.
Sarah: 'Maybe it's a built-in candy corn!'
Universe: 'Seek shade and water immediately'
It is super entertaining the various acft mx references you throw it. I'm currently an E&E tech, so I get it. Keep up the great work!
I love how Arizona preserves metals!
I love seeing old parts put back on the road.
Nice to see you and Charlie working together. I think it's a great idea. Also wish Charlie the best of luck in his new endeavor. You two are a great team.
Your work ethic is beyond impressive! You have my total respect Sarah.
Excellent video! I feel like you’re getting better at these. I feel less like I’m in a classroom and more like with a buddy getting stuff done. Exciting to hear about Charlie making such a big change and hope to see more of him helping you out.
Use a torch on those hard to break loose nuts and bolts! Works (almost) everytime! 😁😁
That Cable from the Body to the frame is actually a Grounding Cable.
Don't think so. It would be a flat braided cable if it was and it wouldn't be anywhere near that gauge. That was a proper load cable with swaged ends. Probably bolts to the cab near the seatbelt mounting points, for severe head- on impacts.
@@TyphoonVstrom and not plated copper, high strength wire rope👍
It’s an anchor for the seatbelts, it attached to the passenger and drive belts and looped under the frame. Not a ground.
Guessing the red stuff on that bolt was LocTite red - the permanent stuff vs the removable blue.
Melted candy would probably be just as sticky. 🤣
I’m loving these Ranger videos
Thanks!
The greatest automotive channel on CZcams just got even greater! Greatest to the nth degree 😊❤️
Be careful Sarah, heat exhaustion is no joke. Gotta keep those electrolytes in check. You were in beast mode stripping that parts truck.
So much learning this time! Yeayah is Sarah for Yeah, Charlie coming around the corner as the calvary looked like an episode of the Discovery Channel's Gold Rush with that behemoth truck! A power wash sure made a heck of a difference as I was convinced by the camera it was worse. Fantastic again Sarah, thanks!
Cool Project! I live in NM, and worked coating operations in the aero industry. We used liquidwrench and heat to break stuff loose, you already have the heat, but soak those bolts if you need to break more loose. On occasion, we worked a bolt back and forth spraying penetrant each cycle, heat seemed to help the penetrant to wick down the threads and often it was dust worked into the threads that created the issue, which the penetrant rinsed away. Hope this helps you and others, those blind holes on engines and frames seem to collect crud.
Thanks so much for showing and explaining what you are doing.
I can fully understand getting out of heavy equipment, it's hard on the body from what I gather. I'm only a regular car and truck mechanic and I find that straining enough. Teaching sounds cool though, I might look into that when I get closer to retirement.
Great job Sarah! You are always having fun and producing great content ☺
This channel gets better and better. Love it.
Sarah -n- Tuned thunder dome. "Two trucks enter, one truck leaves."
You're definitely going all in with the Ranger. It's going to be mint when it's all done.
Use eye protection with impact tools; sometimes things shatter. If the impact wrench and penetrating oil won't move it, heating it with a torch will. In New England under car stuff like shocks, exhaust and bumper bolts almost always require a torch.
Ok,just ramble on! I learn a lot.
Wow! Ditto with my 2001 Edge. I have frame rot and buying a donor truck. Thank you for inspirig me!🙂
Is it bad for the CZcams algorithm to like a video in the first 5 seconds? It has gotten to the point with all of Sarah's videos that I just trust every upload is worth a like 👍 😊 I just don't want to forget before autoplay moves on.
I think this will be the best project yet. "Pumpkin Rear End" and all.
Im doing the same thing with my 4x4 , it is indeed a ton of work . Motivation often alludes me .
I am spell bound, riveted even! Thank you Sarah, motivational and inspiring to help me move on my resto now that other work has been (nearly) completed. I'll follow this project with great interest 🤗😁
Charlie seems like one of the quiet geniuses! I love this truck contect!
Hi Sarah, great build! Thank you for doing this project! Love that Ranger!
Thanks Sarah! Nice find.
Great progress, Sarah! You're going to end up with an awesome Ranger when you finish this project! 😎
I really admire your willingness take take on these big jobs, Sarah!
Ok, how do you remember everything you are taking off? Great job!
Amazing hard work for sure! The Ford Ranger is going to have a 2nd life. I can't wait to see the powder coated frame and most of all. I am so excited for the Audi TT! Teeter Tot full restoration! It's going to be an amazing week for sure!
Nice A.G.E reference. No Air Power Without Ground Power!
THE A TEAM IS BACK LOVE FROM SCOTLAND.
I'm SO excited for this build! I had my late father's 84 long bed Ranger for many years. Wish I had never sold it!
Another great vid!!!! One thing I must compliment you on, I've watched you for a few years(chevy c10 drag truck)now and you have sacrificed your femininity while doing what you do!!! For this I thank you...!!! I've learned from you.thank you.
Sarah and Charlie together under a tent in the Arizona heat. Plus Charlie has a project and might or might not get on CZcams.
Total throwback to the early days of Mr. Dos. 👍🤘
Loving it.
I’m from FL and have been out there several times. I hear it’s dry heat, but heat is heat.
Personally I wouldn't powder coat that chassis because powder coating has a tendency to flake over time. I would prime and spray paint with 2K. The hardener in the paint will give a very durable long-lasting finish without flaking. Just my opinion you understand?
You think spray paint is tougher than powder?
@@headlesnorseman701 Powder coating does flake off after time where 2K doesn't. It's questionable if powder coating is tougher than 2K but 2K doesn't flake off so protects the metal for longer.
I would paint as well. Although powder coating is more durable than paint it does tend to break off in chips. When its nee its great but age it with the weather just a short time and it does tend to easily flake off.
Very enjoyable - I love exactly this kind of content - it is great to see a loved car get a much needed restoration. Looking forward to the next one!
I always learn stuff from watching your channel. So much in fact, I’m doing more and more on my own project cars.
Thank you Sarah 🥰
Cool channel! Don't ask me how the YT algo got me here, but here I am on a Saturday night in Ramstein, Germany bing-watching your channel.
Don't know if you read old comments, but you drove through my parent's ranch on your road trip! If you want to look into that 4 bay shop, ask star link about a dish there. They have hooked up several businesses in that middle of nowhere.
That's alot of work. Im looking forward to seeing everything come together.
When I had really bad rust lock I used muriatic acid in a squirt bottle ( the kind they have at a tattoo shop) and baking soda and water as the neutralizer . And it works 😉
Hi Sarah, Having done the exact same thing, only reversed, I strongly recommend not disposing of anything from your "parts picker" until you have driven around in the finished Ranger for about a week. There are a zillion little clips and little parts that the parts truck can provide.
So many fun and exciting things happening on the channel...that's so awesome!
This is going to be a great rebuild! Kudos to working in the AZ heat!!
I am *so* glad that you've decided to do this restoration. It's a great tribute to your gram . . . . . and you'll end up with a nice little putt-putt in the end.
.. and yes, I drive a Ford Ranger (2008 XLT, 5-speed manual)
Happy Sunday Sarah!!!
I feel your pain sorta with working outside in the heat, been pulling all these damn weeds in my backyard from all this rain we've been getting, luckily I have a pool back here to jump into for much needed breaks.
High 5 to Charlie!! Stay excellent!!!😎
I have a 95 Ranger with the extended cab in the same color. So I have to watch this as you go through everything. I really like mine and it looks pretty great shape for it's age. Of course it has always stayed in a garage unless it was being used. Sure helps them stay clean and the UV doesn't effect them as much that way.
