Reggae Diva JC Lodge classic Reggae/Dancehall massive hit 'Telephone Love' - reupload with better sound quality - Major pioneer in opening up the USA to dancehall music
This is my aunt, for real...She's moved to London from Jamaica, and she's doing good. I've only met her (and Gia, my cousin) a few times, but I'm proud to say that they are family.
I was 11 yrs old. Me and all fam and friends in the 80s and every single person had a SYstEm in the vehicle !! AND BLASTING THIS SONG UP AND DOWN AND ALL AROUND THE EASTSIDE OF YOUNGSTOWN. ITS ONE FOND MEMORY!❤
In 1990s there was a show called "TROPICAL BEAT" on PBS. This video was one of the several beautiful songs they featured. I enjoy this unpretentious and harmonious song
Whew! This takes me back! Those who are new to J.C. Lodge's music, should check out "Someone Loves You, Honey," "Give Me Your Love" (two of her hits from the '80s), and her takes on Sylvia's "Pillow Talk" and The Isley Brothers' "Between the Sheets" (on her CDs from the '90s). Her music isn't for reggae purists, but, hey, there's room in every musical genre for fusion. I love hardcore reggae & ska, too, as well as dancehall, ragga rock and reggaeton. Give June Lodge's sultry voice anytime!
My first cruise in the Navy! 1991 me and some buddies walking down the streets of Marseille France playing this! Seems like yesterday! "Hold on to 16 as long as you can, changes comes real quick makes you swim in the head"!
This is Classic Reggae. June Lodge's sexy, sultry voice did it for me then in the clubs of New Kingston and still does it today. Lawd, pleasant memories in JA.
I surely didn't know there was a video for this song either! I wouldn't of thought she looked like that. It's funny to see her holding that corded phone at the beach. Sign of the times I guess.
My husband Kenny Schick played saxophone with JC in New York and Vermont in the late 90s he was just telling me about that and how super nice JC was to him - she was one of the favorite artists DUBNATION backed!
She is in China, I'm in South Africa 🇿🇦,11,774 km apart yet the vibe n laughter we share when we talk thru the phone is exactly what described in this forever hit.We the 90's kids bumping what our parents enjoyed before we were born
Thank you JC, this brings back so many awesome memories! I remember when this tune was big. Around that time Garnett Silk was big, Luciano was just coming up, and Capleton was hitting with consciousness. At the time I didn't like Shabba Ranks too much because he was so slack but he tore up a version on this so I had to shake my head. This tune's so catchy, few words and leaves you wanting to rewind it again.
The reason why she is still underrated in Jamaica, is because she do not have a hardcore following. She is too "uptown". She is a society chick as talented as she was, but some people see her as the reggae version of Shelia E or Vanity.
