- Successful entrepreneurs Nigel Arrib and Sarah Donahue, have a romantic notion that they can make a quarter of a million pounds by creating a swanky LA pad, in the heart of a run down bit of Rotherhithe, East London.
This is the BEST EPISODE EVER!!! These yuppies are so thick!!! 😂
"Our vision is that it will be so stunning - despite the area - that..." The three of the first words I taught my son were location. Location. LOCATION!!!
The moral of the story is, if someone with knowledge and experience comes along and gives you free advice, in fact begs you to listen, but you yourself think you are smarter than everyone else then this is what happens.
Amen!
I don't like to leave negative comments but these two are unbelievable.
Unbelievable stupid
Huge difference between chavs and class
😂😂😂
This couple are living proof positive that confidence isn't always a good thing. They had shut themselves off to good advice. They should have listened to Sarah.
I would think anyone who can afford this wouldn't buy in that ratty neighbourhood. Turning it into apartments was a brilliant idea, but not enough "fun" for people who want 10K fishtanks. How clueless and blockheaded they are. Whoever unloaded this albatross on them must have jumped for joy.
Blockheaded 😭💀🤣 Tattooing that into my vocabulary book 🤣
I'm curious to know where and how Sarah Beeny can find so many developers with so much money but absolutely no common sense
Everybody is shouting at the screen saying “turn it into flats!!”
Fools and their money are soon parted.
The biggest I’ve seen in all the property development programs is people get too emotionally involved in the redevelopment, adding too expensive things and putting their taste in things instead of doing a tidy, clean, magnolia, decent blank bathroom and kitchen.
So.
Invite an Expert.
And then ignore there advice
Then go bankrupt .
I wish they would bring this show back, in Australia also!! Love it
Yeah me too. Loved it
Here we see the bloke that Harry Enfield based his ‘Tim nice but dim’ character on
😂😂😂
lmfao, and she sounds like Jane McDonald.
I came on comments to write Tim nice but dim. Then saw this! 😂
Only meeeee 🤣 You don't want to do it like that you do it like this 😂
8:50 as usual, Sarah gives golden advice and the developer ignores it. I already know they're gonna crash & burn, now I just watch the fireworks.
Better than watching comedians!
I don't understand how you can have free access to a professional and not take that professional's advice.
He made the mistake of listening to his arrogant wife, who looked at it as a personal design project rather than an investment.
Yes it does amaze me. Take the advice of people who knows. Trouble is, they have a fixed perceived idea and they don't want to budge from it.
Which professional are you referring to?
@@adielstephenson2929 Sarah Beeny.
@@enigmabunny1 She's not a professional property investor.
The question I have is how do people who make such bad decisions have so much money to spend on this in the first place?
Loans
Mummy and daddy
They strike me as nouveau riche, probably an inheritance or maybe they won the lottery!
I find them to be revolting honestly.
Another prime example that fools never die!
There will always be plenty around - in an ever increasing number!
Thank you for uploading. Please keep them coming!
I've never giggled through an episode until this out of touch couple showed up 😁
Then you haven’t seen many episodes. 90% off these people are laughable.
@@shastac1396
The first one I laughed at constantly
A second comment: as mentioned in other episodes this remodel is to the owners' taste and not to the market's. You have to be pretty blind--and stubborn--to think that this expensive of a house would sell in such a run down area. The area isn't even being "gentrified."
So so agree, and they still didn’t learn judging by their plans for the penthouse 🤦🏻♀️
these 2 are absolutely hilarious
This is so much better than that homes under the hammer crap.
Adiel Stephenson yes property ladder and grand designs. My both favourites
Criminal to partition a plain former sausage factory?
This is a classic episode thank you for sharing
Best episode ever. It's like watching a Mitchell & Webb PL episode.
Ego always gets in the way, Wealthy people do not live in reality!
Such a shame they didn't listen at the beginning.
Brilliant episode please keep uploading these!
Cloud cuckoo land for sure😳 Have these two looked at the surroundings they are creating this yuppie pad!!
Jeez I wouldn't buy a place if it had a massive fish tank or a spa. Both would have to be removed. Why do people get so personal with developments? Less is more
Passionate Picker exactly, a maintenance nightmare!
@@sandeepjuneja5716 Yes. I'm sorry I didn't see your reply before now. I wish they would do 'Where are they now' episodes.
Don’t overdevelop for your area.
Sold in 2016 for 3.6 million
David Haselhoffs posh english brother?
He’s definitely not posh!
This has to be one of the best episodes of this show - so funny, if only they had listened to the expert in the first place... hahahaha Seeing London Bridge is so weird knowing i was there last year...Sarah should come to Australia to do a season here that would be great.
Love the small club of PL lovers we got going around here :) cheers!
i know! i was just browsing youtube and came across it - we have a show called 'house rules' over here, - which isn't the same as this exactly but it involves teams of people renovating a house together.....whilst having to do it within the 'rules'
Last year I was looking for episodes of the American version of "Property Ladder" but found this show instead. I have since seen every episode on YT. Far superior show!!!
My cats would love a fishtank in their bathroom.
I'm sorry but realistic is not a word they have any understanding of! Delusional is much more appropriate!
If they put in a mirrored bar and some poles it could be a good private strippper joint.
The planned bathroom in the penthouse is hideous. Trashy. Oh well.
'Where ignorance is bliss 'tis folly to be wise'
they are so cocky and jolly at the beginning, bless them.
It's always the same story; they aren't taking into account that they are NOT going to live there!!!!!!!
A golden rule , Keep Yourself Teachable !!! So sorry Sarah, most people will not be open to accept your wisdom.😮
At 26.20 Nigel goes full Alan Partridge lol.
Love this show, Thank U for the uploads!
Yes, let's put giant fish tanks in. What if 90% of buyers don't want or know how to maintain them? Oh, well - our tastes run to flashy and ostentatious which we mistakenly feel is upscale, so tough. To be fair, they don't appear to be particularly bright, especially Nigel.
I wonder how many children Sarah Beeny has. It seems like every few episodes she's pregnant again. Maybe 3? Maybe 4? I'm sure she's an absolutely a wonderful mom.
She has four children
She actually said once it's easier to make the shows while pregnant, because once the babies are born obviously it makes it more difficult. So she did seem to be perpetually pregnant during the show for that reason.
@@mariahoness9410 Four boys!
She has 4 beautiful boys
developer Sarah convinced her man to not take expert sarah's advice to make flats. it bankrupted them. shame. they can't possibly still be a couple.
That couple arnt together anymore and she doesn't live in that building anymore
Hilarious episode!!!
They could have just done the bloody flats in the first place instead of getting so emotionally involved spending all that money and then doing the flats anyway!!
Sold for 3.6 million in 2016. They had quite a wait but it was worth waiting. I'm not sure if the buyer has managed to resell yet
The word HUBRIS was invented to describe this couple. SMH 🤦♀️
Did they ever sell it, or just live in it? It's on the market now for £4.5mil as a one unit with movie room(someone else posted the listing). No zebra print or large head.
Thank you for uploading!!!
Ah, she's a purist, an artiste with a vision - 'orrified at the thought of "ruining the architecture" of the sausage factory in this rundown neighbourhood. Anyway, what does Sarah know, with her small-minded suggestions?
It annoys me they take no notice of sara
People who don't take good advice are the best thing about this show. It was annoying during the rising market though that they frequently still made a shit load of money even after ignoring her. There was one ep where the young couple wanted to move to Australia. At the end of the show it turned out they would have made just as much profit by buying the house, waiting a while, and selling it without having done anything during that time.
brutal location........
Zero curb appeal!
For crying out loud....why don't people just listen to Sarah?
the sausage couple, omg why didnt listen to sarah, a proper pro.
Thank you so much for uploading more episodes, I can't find them anywhere!
Did they sell it in the end
Double baths? What the hell?
Example that having a posh stance doesn't equal to intelligence.
I agree with all the comments. There is only one person to blame........the ignorant amateur 'developer'. It's laughable that he's blaming the builder. He obviously wasn't regularly monitoring the building process. If he couldn't do it then his architect should have been doing it. Zero sympathy
sarah why dont these ppl listern to u
minenhle Fakudze hmmmmm, just because this woman says something, doesn’t mean it’s always the most fantastic advice ever given...
@@juliansydney9819 you must be joking! If they had ignored her advice and gone ahead with a single massive house they'd have been financially ruined. Sarah has done redevelopments as a profitable business for YEARS.
@@juliansydney9819 hahahaha she is rarely wrong!
It is her show after all!
As has been noted, the road to financial ruin often begins with real estate. Not that all property development schemes end in ruin, of course. But if you’re in financial trouble, chances are it started with real estate.
Always consider what a professional says.
These two are really in LaLa Land. I hope they never tackled another project. They are clueless!
Their learning curve would have been much less steep had they listened to Sarah from the beginning. It always amazes me how novices ignore her wisdom.
Why yes, I would like to move into a construction zone to fund your installation of a millionaire above me.
Lookout for the episode in which a dj bought a house on the countryside, did a lot of crazy changes that were doomed to fail, but ended up making a crazy profit. I remember the last scene he was chilling in the hot tub. Thankful for any help, would love to see that one again.
why do you start here if you don't understand it or have not even studied it yet and then also reject advice from someone who knows it
Is arrogance really, I mean really a bliss? They wonder why it was sold as a half finished project ! Two kids in candy shop is dangerous. I bought a house which was run down and sold it for twice the price due to the fact I simply decorated with 60ltr of paint and 20 rolls of paper, all done in 9 months. -------------HEAD NOT HEART.
Why did that woman keep saying how beautiful the building was? Was she taking the piss?
Her idea of posh and upscale is tacky in the extreme.
Things change. Ostentatious vulgarity just doesn't have the wide appeal it once had, wouldn't you say--
Sarah Do millionaires what to live in Rotherhithe.couple no.priceless.
Great episode with Tim nice but Dim
Sarah's bustin'.
She was on come dine with me, was a pretty hilarious episode too!
oh man do you have the link to that ep?
@@nameundefinedname5307 Nope, that was from my memory when I saw the episode on TV. They have never repeated it, probably because she made the guests smoke a hubba pipe (those arabic things) before dinner lol
@@madcommodore damn! thanks anyway! Merry Christmas!
@@nameundefinedname5307 lol Happy Xmas it might be on MORE4 over Xmas anyway, I just don't watch British TV much.
Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse could do a brilliant comedy sketch based on this format. He is like a cartoon character. She is just deluded and thinking with emotions and not facts.
Did they just want theirn5 minutes of fame on the Tele........or for us to be impressed that money is no object.....in fact they just look like a couple of chops.
Take a shot each time she says 5000 square foot
Really, Who The F needs 5000 square feet to be happy.
they didn't listen ..
Imagine having that poor taste and believing it’s upscale.
Hilarious 🤣 sorry but these people are completely 😱😱😱
Very frustrating couple
HA!
A sausage factory!
MINE MINE MINE MIIIIIINE!!!!!!
And they brag about the architecture, but it's just a basic squared off building - flat ceilings and walls, no character whatsoever!
Now they want to listen when they have spent/wasted so much time, money and effort
Does anyone know what font they used when they put things on the screen like 'don't be afraid to change your plans"?
Why, oh why don't people on this show listen to Sarah.
She is always right!!!!
That couple are awful.
As it’s London they would probably be in massive profit by now by holding it
Did it sell
Sarah, you would do well if you started your own development training course for dummies ...
Don't you think that's what these programs are all about? They are very informative, whether people take heed or not is up to them!
I feel sorry for them. My Dad had a rude saying about wishful thinking. As was said in another episode: "Ignore Sarah's advice at your Peril..."
The whole site is up for sale as of Aug 2020. I would not have been surprised if they did the only sensible thing after the first flat, and declared bankruptcy.
They split up after this episode was filmed
@@mariahoness6160 Do you have any more info?? I'm hooked!
Alan partridge 😂
What a pair of dopes…
the guy has the poshest accent on any Property Ladder episode
Rubbish.
delusional is too tame a name for those 2.
