What is really amazing about this performance is that it got 2nd place singing in italian. Most of the audience didn't have a clue of what he was singing about, but the emphasys, the swag, the energy, his unique vocals, the visuals, and the emotion Mahmood was able to show allowed him to conquer most of the European audience with this captivating, catchy rythm.
Last but not least, the only native language among the TOP10!
I still think , after almost 3 months of continual listening, that this is the best song in the competition... by far . I`m fairly sure that the reasons I love it so much is also one of the reasons that it did`nt win in the end, that being that it is performed in Italian and not English. I keep thinking that if it had been in English He would have slayed with this, but I`m also really pleased that he went with his native language. I fell so much in love with this that I began Italian lessons a few days after he won San Remo. I don`t begrudge The Netherlands their win, but I believe that judged on the criterion that ESC songs are supposed to be based upon, this is a better written, more unique song and Alejandro nailed it on the night. I was in a bar in Ben Yehuda St when he came on and there was no one who did`nt clap along and the entire street exploded into cheering rounds of applause at the end.

Did you see this interview with Israeli television? He`s super cute, and seems such a nice guy too.
It really is a great song. I think what stopped it winning is that it isn't necessarily east to listen to, as in it's not casual in the background music. You have to be in the zone to appreciate it, which is a fine quality but not necessarily a winning attribute. We adore it, and are glad he did so well!

Yes Richard, he's really nice and humble ! Before the concert he did in Milano, Mi Ami festival, last saturday, a journalist by the dutch journal NOS interviewed mahmood and he said : “Ahah, you don’t have to apologize that Netherlands have won. Duncan had a beautiful song and I’m happy with the second place”.
The article is very interesting and mahmood is so nice, he's a kind of person that never complains or talks bad about anyone...; if you want to read it I put the link, I read with the pc translator because it is in dutch.
Ps i was at the concert in milan and Mahmood was amazing, not only as singer and songwriter but he has also a great stage presence!

Even though I personally prefer Soldi, Duncan deserved to win, Duncan and Mahmood deserved both I think because their songs are very beautiful and with different styles... and Mahmood will never talk bad about anyone because he is a very good and positive person. I hope next year the Netherlands will invite him performing during the ESC as this year was for Eleni Foureira... ☺

Money has come second, but it is the song that sells more globally. According to Kworb's Global Digital Artist ranking, Mahmood is the 36th most popular artist in the world with "Money". For me this Eurofestival will be remembered Mahmood's ESC
