    I had this same issue. I got open flash tablet and the stage 1 tune fixed it!! I took off the tune a couple months later and sure enough the problem came right back without the tune

      Really?! Well finally theres something that works. Do you know what in your tune that adjusted it, more fuel pressure at idle?

  • @wrenchmohawk
    @wrenchmohawk Před 9 lety +2

    I sprayed lubricant on the pulleys attached to the belt and it made the idle smoother (not as noisy) and fixed the idle issue (mine was with the AC on).

  • @seanc5481

    I will, and I hope it's something they can figure out. Because nobody has had a strait answer from toyota or Subaru. It's random parts or random CEL's being thrown that aren't consistent with what everyone are experiencing.

    i was thinking A/C kicking in but its a bit heavy for that... but try battery and or taking the battery out for a few hours to reset the ECU. make sure you also have good gas in it and see how that goes...

  • @MrTapout619
    @MrTapout619 Před 11 lety

    I don't know if u have found out what the problem is but a Toyota dealership has. U were right it is a tweak that was needed to the ECU. Many people were having this issue and it took Toyota a good 3-4 months but I guess they found the issue. Check FRS forums out there more info there. At least they have an official fix now.

    I used to have this issue till I tuned my 2013 and put headers on it. Changed how it idles and revs a lot better than it did. In my opinion this car should be tuned higher than what it is. The torque drop is horrible in these cars and was a major complaint I had with it. I just bought a tacoma and am gonna drive my frs less now. It was fun and atleast has been reliable for 200000 km.

    My advice is you sould check your coolant level, if its less than low than add some so its like a half of inch more than low and than if it wont helps than you should go get your ECU Remapped. Goodluck hope Ive helped.

    The ecu learns and adjust to how u drive the first 100miles and stays that way if you drive different like city drive from track then valve time might be more adjusted for one, its no biggi i dont knw what everyone is complaining abt. get an ecu flash or im sure if its left like that wont cause any issues. its in no way mechanical

  • @nismozx6r

    It's because you have your ac on and it's drawing power when it cycles. Youre drawing a load. Small battery small alternator

    @seanc5481  Před 12 lety

    Well it has been a bit since i've posted this. Still the same shuttering and dip. But i haven't thrown and CEL's or Broken down. I'm hoping and this is odd to say that maybe its a manufacture tweak in the ECU.

  • @seanc5481
    @seanc5481  Před 11 lety

    Unfortunately unless there is a CEL, there is no re-flash for it. So when decelerating and sitting at idle the car will sputter. YAY Scion :/

    • @seanc5481
      @seanc5481  Před 9 lety

      Vasik Vasin After driving on the freeway it would fluctuate heavily. As well as when using the A/C. I sold the vehicle after owning it for a year. The idle and the High Fuel Pressure Pump (w/chirp) were too annoying.

    • @BuiltForSpeed
      @BuiltForSpeed Před 9 lety

      sean c that normal chirp for that car and the fluctuating would be a air leak

    • @seanc5481
      @seanc5481  Před 9 lety +1

      Initially that's what I thought. Toyota has officially diagnosed it as a (High Fuel Pressure Pump) issue. Since that point a few years ago now I got rid of the car because they were not able to fix the vehicle. I traded it in for a used Tundra, after I moved I sold the truck and bought a 97' Miata with 23k on the clock. ;)

    • @BuiltForSpeed
      @BuiltForSpeed Před 9 lety

    • @seanc5481
      @seanc5481  Před 9 lety

      I was curious what was inside the pump that was causing the actual squeak. A tuner that builds Subarus up at a shop called All Apects Motorsports said it was a spring inside. Now I don't know exactly what causes this spring to fail, or if it is the only part failing?

      @@MineCraftQhead turns out when I was getting the cars clutch changed, the technician noticed the tube to the air box wasn't secured all the way and it was causing the rough idle and stalling. As soon as he secured that and made sure it was tightened completely (no leaks) the car idles perfectly. Double check all your tubes that go to the air box, as well as the MAF sensor and any exhaust leaks/ worn exhaust gaskets, definitely could be any one of those. Hope that helps!

    • @louief857
      @louief857 Před 7 lety +1

      I believe the problem is A/C idle fluctuation and it is fixed by the dealer flashing to a newer "BO1C" or higher calibration ID for the ECU, or getting the stage 1 tune from oft might fix it too.

    • @louief857
      @louief857 Před 7 lety +1

      There are four or six different idle control tables that the ECU switches to depending on load situations. The earlier calibrations for the ECU had the idle set at different rpms for A/C or other situations causing an inconsistent idle that could fluctuate from 600 rpms to 750. I think the newer calibrations fixed this by setting the idle to 750 across the board.

    I have the FT-86 2014 and i have the same issue and in extra when i drive the RPM lags on 2500, 3500, 4500 and when it reaches 5000 it speeds and shifts up when it reaches 7000, i use 98 octane every check up i have done was in Toyota's official workshop in the UAE after the 22,500 km check up when i received my car back it happened the first time when i gave it back to them they reseted the computer then after 30 km of driving it happened again then returned to them and kept it for two days to check what is wrong, they cleaned the throttle, they checked the gear oil and everything then they found out it is from the injectors it has to be replaced so now i'm waiting for the warranty department in Dubai to agree to fix my issue after the vacation we will see what happens.

    • @seanc5481
      @seanc5481  Před 10 lety

      This is unfortunate to hear, having the 2014 model doing this is odd. I would of thought they worked out those bugs by now. Do you have the Lemon Law where you are at? If you do, make sure you document the labor you have Toyota do on the car. Once you have enough time into getting the car to work see about getting a lawyer to represent you in the case you may establish. Getting a refund or a new FT-86 may be needed. Good luck!

    is it like the dip only or what else you felt like changed? like does it run good when you start ..like your clutch and such???..Because i am have issues with my BRZ, but idk yet what it is exactly. i m thinking my clutch but i m not sure.My idle seem to act weird. but at the same time my clutch, like it use to engage easely when i lift my foot a bit . now its only engages really high, and i need to give it a lot of effort for the car to go...like high revs, like it lost power. so i was thinking maybe its clutch or maybe its caused by the iddle issue too. IDK.

      If you bought this vehicle used, it is entirely possible the person before you botched a few gears while shifting. Or you botched a few gears, I'm not sure of the vehicles history. The issue of your transmission would not be tied into the High fuel pressure pump faulting out. Take the vehicle in to get looked at, best be safe then sorry. Good luck!
