Someone once told me that for Bill Gates to buy a Porsche was equivalent to the average person buying a pack of chewing gum. That's how bad economic inequality has become. We need more wealthy people like Abigail Disney, someone who is actually wealthy herself, to expose the flaws in our wealth distribution.

Walt Disney was known to ruthlessly a avoided paying full taxes for decades. So it is anachronistic to hear Abigail say how much her grandfather told her that he cared about his employees' well-being when the very taxes he sought to avoid where destined for the people he supposedly cared for.
Don't get me wrong; I applaud her for speaking so frankly about what causes the US wealth gap. However, as good of a picture as she paints of her grandfather, Walt was complete adherent of Milton Friedman's neo-liberal economic theories and even saw the tax increase on the wealthy post-WWII as a type of "Communism." It was our worker-friendly economic structure of the 50s and 60s taxing companies and the wealthy that made America a land of opportunity, but it was Friedman and Powell that made the rich richer and the poor poorer from the 70s onward. That was music to the ears of the millionaire class then and now. But we need more of the ultra-wealthy to stop aspiring to be American royalty without any of the concept of noblesse oblige. We cast off British rule because they over taxed colonists to finance their extravagances and now the modern wealthy want to do the same without any social responsibility.
