- During a recent 2022 screening at the DGA Theatre, Steven Spielberg sat down with Martin Scorsese for an interview to discuss his latest work.
Spielberg said: “I’ve been very private about my private life, and I’ve never gone public with my private life until now… What I thought was that if I had to make one more movie, if I had to tell one more story, what would that story be? And that’s why I decided to put this into production.”

#thefabelmans #spielberg #scorsese
Killers of The Flower Moon is my most anticipated film in 2023
Mine too!!
Same!! But like where is the trailer?
Yessss, and the all cast is amazing😁😁.
But the movie is very far. Cannes😬😬
Di Caprio will be raging under Marty's direction again, can't wait.
De Niro most likely will be too since he sort of plays the villain in the movie.
Two directors who couldn't be any more different from one another but both have one thing in common and that is their absolute love of film.
Steven produced Cape Fear for him and Scorsese has gone outside his comfort zone for lighter fare like Hugo, 1st 3rd of NYS and Age of Innocence.
@@whenfatkillsfat803 when i saw Hugo i was amazed that it was a Scorsese film. I actually think its one of his best.
Boys cried when all the Spider-Men came together in No Way Home.
Men cried when Scorsese told Spielberg about how much he loved The Fabelmans.
One of my proudest moments of my career....to be directed by Steven Spielberg, on The Fablemans.
Awesome interview. 👌
These 2 have known each other since the 70s. Amazing movies from the pair of them.
Thank you for this gift

Spielberg really gives off the vibe of a guy that just loves films. His response to Scorsese describing the details he recognized in Spielbergs film isn't from a guy he's known almost 60 years but a fan of Martin Scorsese hearing his craftsmanship being acknowledged.
And they both have different personalities to.
Thank you for posting! Whenever these two come together to discuss their process, and films in general, it's such an inspiration to filmmakers like myself to see. "The Fablemans" was one of my top favorite movies of 2022, and I consider it a Spielberg masterpiece. It's so nice to see the enduring friendship and admiration of Scorsese & Spielberg for each other. Liked and subscribed!
Thank you so so much!! 👌🏿😎
Living legends both.
How do you start with a landscape view then turn the camera to portrait mode.... for an interview with 2 people. You HAD THE SHOT! 🤣🤣 Have you learned nothing from these 2 guys?
I think he was inspired by the opening scene of Unbreakable
Two master artists..interesting conversation
0:29 come on!! Love their friendship ❤️
How great would it be if Scorsese did a film about himself growing up and making films? By God.
🤯
Instead of The Scorsese's, it's The Fettuccines
Albert Fettuccine
Well similar to Spielberg he has made films sonpersonal that cpuld be consider, memoir. Mean Streets for example, althou is not his childhood.
He wouldn't have directed Hugo then, i'm guessing.
Thank You for this!
My pleasure! It would be a big help if you could Like And Subscribe! 🙏🏿
Of course!
This is like that scene in Heat where DeNiro and Pacino share the frame
Two geniuses who have arguably had the biggest influence on cinema today.
bro, there's no doubt. they are two fathers of modern, narrative cinema.
Spielberg, Scorsese, Kubrick, Hitchcock, Cameron, Coppola, & Lucas are the most influential directors of all time
@@TypeLproductions I couldn't agree more
@@flamingopower2637 fincher, nolan, villeneuve, tarantino, pta, wes Anderson, edgar Wright, chaplin, carpenter, coen brothers as well.
Spielberg is an all rounder.
Dude has a masterpiece in every genre.
Action/ Adventure - Indiana Jones and The Raiders of the Lost Ark
Horror/Thriller - Jaws
Sci-Fi - Close Encounters of The Third kind
Family - E.T The Extra Terrestrial
War - Saving Private Ryan
Biopic - Schindlers List
I just notice that i spend 39 min with a smile in my face, my cheeks hurt but thank you
That happens to me when I do shrooms.
2 legends in their own right, but same as masterful directors ❤
Great conversation between Spielberg and Scorsese. Fantastic. I had to mostly close my eyes, though. The image from the handheld iPhone was moving around so much (until the end), it made me seasick.
Guys at least be thankful for uploading... otherwise we would have never seen this!
OK this is amazing, this should have a million views
Please give this video a like and maybe we can get there! 😁😁
I'm happy that we get to see it, don't get me wrong. But it's surprising that the video and sound quality is not more professional for such an event. Anyways, thanks for posting but it's a bit hard to watch, especially because of the sound.
I totally understand. We did the best we could with what we had. Thank you for understanding ✌🏿🙏🏿
Is there a better sound version out there?
Kindred spirits most excellent viewing 😊
Living Legends.
Did they rotate the phone in the middle of this? Great interview but is there a 2nd camera that got better angles (or sound?).
Spielberg produced Cape Fear for him. It was his more box office friendly movie he got to make as a deal for Universal to distribute Last Temptation exclusively at Cineplex Odeon since they owned that theater chain and it paid off since it was a hit with $79 million in the states and biggest for him at that time eclipsing Goodfellas in the mid 40s in millions of dollars.
My iPad just exploded from so much awesomeness
EARLY XMAS PRESENT ! Thanks
You’re welcome! It would be a tremendous help if you could like and subscribe 🙏🏿
Wow two of the best of all time especially since the 70s onward...last of their kind
Unfortunate sound and camera issues.
I don't think there can be one GOAT director in cinema history but these two are definitely in the herd!
Not only are they in the herd, I’d say they’re leading the herd.
@@erniereyes1994 That's what makes it difficult to answer. Both are legends since the 70's but what about their heroes? John Ford, Howard Hawks, Sergio Leone, Akira Kurosawa, Jean Renoir, Carl Theodore Dreyer, Fritz Lang, Andrei Tarkovsky, Stanley Kubrick, Alfred Hitchcock, Billy Wilder...
I wouldn't dare to pick one to put out front.
@@twerps1 facts.
@@twerps1 word!
@@twerps1 All these masters are gone, so it's safe to say them 2 are the best directors alive. In my personal opinion, Akira Kurosawa takes the goat title, but that's just me.
if those guys clap my writing that would be a priceless honor to me n by far a blessing so far outside myaelf that i couldnt really even imagine that
thàts exactly what im saying
How in the absolute hell do I sign up to go to one of these events 😂
when is killers of the flower moon trailer going to be released? lol
Weird that Spielberg said he’s “been very private about his private life” until now. All the stories that made the bones of this movie, he’s been sharing for years
i don't think he ever told that his mother had an affair with his father's best friend.
@@karlkarlos3545 i think it took a good portion of the Spielberg documentary
@@cobaltfalcon9458Which wasn't that long ago, was it? But I have to take your words for it, I've never seen it.
@@karlkarlos3545 maybe 6 years ago?
@@cobaltfalcon9458 Yeah, that's not long. Also the Fabelmans script must have been written a year ago at least too, probably even longer.
Hi Martin Scorsese welcome to the stream
Scorsese and Spielberg are such wonderful directors that they make whoever is shooting this look like an amateur.
What a ridiculous comment. Comparing the filmographies of two masters to a fan recording a conversation is absurd. Considering the fact that the person who runs the lovely blog which posted this video for our pleasure, was even there to witness the interview, should tell you that, whoever they are, have a love for film, and therefore would probably make a pretty good movie with the budget Scorsese and Spielberg where given for their biggest films. Of course he is gonna look like an amateur. This isn't a film; its a video of an interview. There must a better, and more simple way, to compliment the speakers (and maybe even the recorder), responsible for what we are viewing and hearing.
Sorry, really its not that deep, but i just cant understand what you are trying to say. I love "Scarface" too
This comment was ironic, not a serious opinion.
@@carlnielsen7004 Bro missed the joke
Great discussion, shame about the shocking aspect ratio.
and the audio quality
Robert De.Niro would have made a great ET. And he was at his peak then.
33:00
Pimping the farce.
24:44
What was Scorsese saying about the phone call scene? Something about 2 bodies?
Didn’t he say two eyes?
Spielberg the goat of movie making in my oppinion
Spielberg steals from the Goats.
Is there a better recording of this? The Audio is Terrible!
Loopy camera work, too.
Go home, cameraman. You're drunk.
Considering the name of your channel. you should’ve asked either of these two greats about how to actually FILM something! 🎥🤦🏻♂️
Great interview. But it is incredibly annoying those loud reactions of that woman next camera. it is a punishment to have such a person next to you in the theater.
I loved Hugo. I wish Scorsese would make more films like that. As for Steven Spielberg i would have preferred his Indiana Jones V.
Scorsese would’ve done A.I. well if asked to do it
Who died in Vietnam? 29:12
The audio is terrible.
Will do better next time
Is it supposed to be Ironic that this is filmed so badly ?
Why are people responding to a conversation they’re not a part of? So odd. Kind of dystopian to think about.
Dystopian would be people sitting in frightened silence while sitting metres away from two legends. They're humans and humans are allowed to respond audibly to something extraordinary happening around them. It's not like they were being obnoxiously loud ffs.
Ummmmmm this was a public convo.
So off mic.
Dutch angle? 🥴
😂
Did a drunk guy film this? Lol
Sack the camera person
🤣
The scene with the Mom dancing in the headlights during the camping trip was disturbing to me, yet I felt it was supposed to be beautiful, and that incongruence between what I felt and what I sensed I was supposed to feel, bothered me and affected my enjoyment of the film.
I think you felt what you were supposed to feel. It was clearly supposed to be beautiful and disturbing. The best artists don't go for just one emotion at a time.
@@melanie62954 I’m in a glass case of emotions!!!
The sister in the film was visibly and vocally disturbed by it to the point that she tried to prevent it…
Спилберг это режиссер, который был убит и клонирован в роботов в начале своей карьеры, после Списка Шидлера.
who are these two?
Your dads
@@nectarinedreams7208 I just asked my dad and he said he's not either of them. I'm really confused now
The one on the left is called Eric B. The one on the right is called Rakim.
Spielberg nice guy, likeable!! Scorsese, NOT!!!!
IT'S CHILD'S PLAY. VERY VERY FUNNY.
STEVEN S, YOU MAKE THE CUTEST MOVIES IN THE WORLD. GREMLINS, SO CUTE. YOUR JAWS, DINOS MOVIES, EVERYBODY LAUGHES AT YOU. LAUGHTERS & YAWNS NON- STOPPED AT THE MOVIES YOU MAKE. "CHILDPLAY"- YOU KNOW THE MEANING. VERY VERY FUNNY.
Joe Dante made Gremlins 😉
