It was to be a 3:30 hour movie and mafia movies haven't been doing well lately so there was no way anybody would finance a box office flop like that. That's why it's on Netflix
It was the revolutionary CGI thing that they needed to develop in order to make the 3 actors young without using stupid points for face tracking. (they invented a technology call Flux, and I'm afraid actors are gonna chose that path to get rid of nowadays stupid suits and points). The whole movie was a damn experiment. So big companies didn't take the risk for a 3+ hour movie with this.

Some of my favorite acting moments in the film are: Pacino's reaction to De Niro telling him which 'Tony' said that; Pacino's reaction to De Niro telling him, "It's what it is..."; De Niro at breakfast when Pesci tells him what is gonna happen, De Niro crushes the heart in that scene; Pesci reacting to Pacino's rant about not showing appreciation; the scene with Keitel, De Niro and Pesci at the table. Keitel is perfectly intimidating, De Niro is perfectly intimidated, and Pesci moderates it all... without saying a word.....

I guess because the show is more about entertainment than real, in-depth interviews. So with most guests, it's about banter and jokes, whatever gets the audience going. With more esteemed guests like Scorsese, the show gets more serious.

@@anthonyj6863 There are several songs on the soundtrack, so I don't know where you're getting this idea of there being only one song in the movie. And it is also common for films to use the main theme repeatedly throughout the film. Some examples that come to mind include: Psycho (another Herrmann-composed film), almost every Spaghetti Western, almost every Giallo, etc.
@@anthonyj6863 I think it may be on purpose to reflect the monotony of the character's life to the point of almost going crazy. Last time i watched the film was 2 years ago when i was feeling depressed and the film made me film even more depressed and alone. It was like putting lemon on a cut, not a film you can watch every weekened. Its very meditative. I remembered vividly how bored that jazz song made me feel.

IKR all the production studios are willing to finance shitty remakes no one wants, but not an original idea from the godfather of movies.
It's remarkable in a way. This means Netflix had the finance to cop the film when major studios refused to, and that a genuine mobster film with some top names wasn't worth their time.
I think it's because they all realized they probably wouldn't make back the money that went into making the film. Where Netflix knows this going into it but is only trying to be at the award table.

The Irishman is INCREDIBLE. One of Scorsese’s best. It’s not like any of his others, but yet so individually unique.

I've always felt Gandolfini and Scorsese would eventually work together considering how many mutual friends they had and how talented they were in the gangster genre. It's a damn shame it never happened but there's episodes of sopranos that feel like they were directed by Scorsese so that's something at least

@alia al mutari I found it interesting to watch Martin Scorsese give an interview and the interview was better than the movie to tell you the truth. He's got a lot of conversational ability and he can carry a strong conversation which is why he makes excellent films, but the Irishman just was not my favourite. I will watch it again and come back to tell everyone what I though the second time around, but I fell asleep off and on through out the movie and I just was not hooked as hard as many others and I think that Scorsese's other movies had a lot of energy and great dialogue, but this was missed in the Irishman and I don't know why.

@@mperry1329 it's a lot more poignant and reflective than his other crime movies. For me it worked because you can see a lot of Scorsese's own life in it. It's a movie about looking back at one's life, dealing with mortality, regrets, loneliness, and the path of destruction that a crime-filled life leaves on everyone in its periphery.
@yourfavoritepizzaboy I guess that I missed these things that you found in the movie, I wish that I could have been as moved by the movie. I just didn't pick up on that because they didn't use the story movement in a better way, that's why I said that I need to watch the movie again because there were a lot of things that I didn't adhere to.But I appreciate your comment and I am glad that you found some depth in the movie more than I did because we paid a lot to watch this movie and I just didn't get that energy from the movie. BUt like I said, I will watch it again to appreciate it more from what you said. Your comment was intelligently written and I appreciate your words. Thank You.

Well. really Father God is a living Legend who will out live this man whom he gave the talent to do what he is doing. Yes, I have to go there. Scorsese has to know that he is only a man and can do nothing for the rest of his life except make entertaining movies, which are all only for a short time in life anyhow. But no man is a Legend except for Father God and He is in everything. Even what we watch. Father God IS far more than any Legend, He's in a much higher league/level all His own above all forevermore. God has said "my thoughts are not your thoughts and my ways are not your ways, for my thoughts are higher than your thoughts and my ways are higher than your ways"; & God's wisdom is higher than man's wisdom, even that which is thought to be God's foolishness is actually wiser than all mankind's wisdom. (Isaiah 55:6-9, 10-13; 1 Corinthians 1:25, 26-31). God is eternal and is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore being Omniscient, Omnipotent, and Omnipresent forever and evermore according to God's Holy Word, which is flawless, perfect, and everlasting with every word being God breathed ("it is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." Jesus Christ had said in Matthew 4:4 - KJV/NIV). God is the Creator of All and He owns everything, and Not owing anything to anyone ever! For God owns all the cattle on a thousand hills: Psalm 50:10-11 & 50:1-23 KJV/NIV - important to read & note what is stated here, which many have forgotten! God is no respecter of persons: Romans 2:10-13 & Acts 10:34-36 NIV (also read Romans 2:1-29 & Acts 10:1-48 NIV). If you are going to give credit, then give credit to whom credit is due, but, know and realise that God is the One and Only true living God (remember 1st & 2nd Commandments of God given to Moses by God on the Mount); and remember that all Praise, Glory & Honor belongs to God (Psalm 115:1-18, 1 Chronicles 29:10-20, Revelation 19:1), and the Name of Jesus Christ is above every name (Philippians 2:6-11, Acts 4:8-12, Matthew 21:4-16 & 21:42-46, and Psalm 148-150 (all three chapters)). To avoid certain troubles in this life on this troubled earth, please read Proverbs 1-5 (all five chapters) to give you some wise counsel for living this life and to not follow after those who live unwisely wicked lives-who often end up troubled or in a lot of trouble b/c they could not keep themselves out of trouble (and are now wondering what's next for them?). Since they refused wisdom and had wanted to go their own way, and that they would not listen to anyone at all, have now found themselves in deep trouble with no where left to go. So, what would be next? Jesus Christ is willing to save all who come to Him (John 3:16-17, 6:37 & Revelation 3:20) and call upon His Name for confession of being a sinner having lived a sinful life, asking Jesus Christ to forgive you for living a sinful life and ask to be forgiven of all of your sins, and ask Jesus Christ to come into your heart that you have open for Jesus and ask Jesus to save you in the Name of Jesus, Amen. (Romans 3:22-26 & 10:9-10 & 10:13, Revelation 3:20).

This is one of the few interviews where Jimmy could not talk over the guest or even speak too much. Scorsese's way of speaking is so captivating.

Watched The Irishman in the cinema. Do all yourself a favor and watch it! My body is still shocked what kind of great work it has seen. It is already one of my favorite films of all time.
