  • Chin implants can make a huge difference when it comes to the shape of your face and creating facial balance. Chin implants are solid, do not leak, and usually last a lifetime. Most patients love their results, but in the case that a patient was not happy, this is one of the few reversible procedures in facial cosmetic surgery.

    my only concern with these is there seems to be studies where lots of folks are reporting bone resorption because the tight muscle of the chin is putting lots of pressure on the bone. There was one study where about 90% of people had about 2mm of resorption after 5 years of having their implants. Is this something that we should be concerned about and will this progressively get worse over time?

    What do you think of the Mittelman Pre Jowl-Chin implant. Is it harder to insert in the chin? I'd like to increase both anterior projection and pre jowl fullness.

    Hi! I'm thinking about a chin implant because I feel my chin is underprounounced and makes me look like I have a double chin from a side view, when I'm actually rather thin. However I really love my face and I'm scared to do plastic surgery that I may hate and may be unreversable. I would have so much regret if I ruined my face or caused myself medical issues for the sake of looking better from the side. Could I send some pictures to see what you think?

    Hi there I’ve been recommended some form of chin surgery in the past by dental professionals and I was wondering if I could send in a picture to see if I’m still a good candidate now that I’ve had braces. My chin still doesn’t match up with my face in the correct way in my opinion and it gives me a double chin and makes my nose look way bigger. Would it still work to send in a picture?

    How do you know if you need a chin implant for a mandibular deficiency growth or if you have bimaxillary protrusions and need surgery on your jaws? They both look like they give weak chins and I cannot tell which one I would need to go in for. I will be seeing a surgeon in a few months but scouring the internet has been very confusing. Thank you in advance for your help!

      I would suggest u to go for genioplasty. Because i feel that u get a protruding upper jaw out of gravity because of the recessed chin. So once the chin is fixed by cutting the bone and bringing it forward. Hopefully the protruded upper jaw must go back to its normal place. Still not sure though.

    Hi is it possible to shave off some of the jaw bone at the bottom and use that to stick in place where u would use an implant? So that I’m using my bone instead of a foreign object (silicone implant) if so is it better? Any risks etc?

    • @NayakPlasticSurgery
      @NayakPlasticSurgery  Pƙed 5 lety +3

      That is unfortunately not something that would work. Those pieces of bone would have no circulation of their own, they would not survive.

    I look very young for my age. I'm 38 and 5' and having a small chin does not help people decipher my actual age. I was actually approved for it via insurance due to a condition I have. I hope when the virus is diminished I can get one. It's not always a cosmetic thing.

    • @NayakPlasticSurgery

      It depends entirely on the individual. We have a number of different chin implants in an assortment of sizes and shapes. The patient's bone structure, facial proportions and personal preference are all considered when deciding which implant will be used. In addition to picking the best implant option available, Dr. Nayak takes it a step further and custom carves every implant during surgery so that the implant truly fits that patient. Our ultimate goal is for the results to look natural but still significant to the patient so that the procedure is worthwhile.

      Looks like its just her buccal fat and lose skin that creates a heavier side profile view. To get rid of it I think she would need to either have a cheek augmentation to lift the skin up or to have some of her buccal fat pads removed. Im not an expert tho, this is just what I know from my own experience.

      No and no. We use dissolvable sutures to secure the chin implant to the periosteum. As the sutures dissolve, the body is healing and scaring over the implant, keeping it in place forever.
