Just an FYI to anyone with chin recession that might be watching this: you have more options that just filler or an implant. In fact it might be more cost effective for you in the long run to talk to an oral surgeon about a sliding genioplasty, which can be done under twilight sleep and can not only improve your chin, but your jaw. As you age, repeatedly filling up the chin and jaw will only take you so far
Also want to add that orthodontics alone, for adults, cannot change the jaw, unfortunately.
@@coldapricot orthodontics can help to autorotate the lower jaw forward if you have TADS and your practitioner is versed in treating maxillary overgrowth with orthodontics. Not a lot of orthodontists know how to do this and therefore aren’t comfortable with it.

sliding genioplasty is painful and has a looong recovery. but by far the best results.
Lots of nerve damage to be aware of either that procedure
I used to think my round face was the issue with my face, but after taking selfies, I realized that my chin was the issue. The chin seems minor, but it can make the difference between night and day, I think.

@@MBsmiley actually, modifying my face through sone tweaks has made me happier because I am now more attractive and it has enhanced my quality of life by the way I am treated by others (sad but true).
I think Rebecca Hall was a perfect example of how increasing chin protrusion won’t always increase attractiveness. I think because she already has a long chin in comparison to her otherwise gentle facial features, that protruding her chin as well makes it much too strong and masculine on her face.
Agreed. And with Margot Robbie, the slight recession didn’t make her any less attractive

Got my chin filler today! I’m feeling like a million bucks! My face looks absolutely beautiful. More beautiful than before. It shows just how important a chin impacts your face
How long the filler will last ? The problem of filler is that you have to keep fill it about once a year which is not very cost effective in my opinion.
@@qtt323 I will get a touch up in about 6 months or before if I’m not happy with the results. She said it will last from 6 months to a year

When I first went to a plastic surgeon for a nose job, the doctor said I needed a chin implant. I always thought the bump on my nose was the problem. After the surgery, I was thrilled with the results. This was in 1976,. I have been happy with the results for decades.

Years ago I go to a doctor for a nose job and he sugested a chin implant to complement the balance of my face. I totally agree it's a game changer and love my profile 💜 Also no one ever notices I got it. They just notice my nose job bc ppl don't rlly remember the size of your chin

Me and my sister have similar faces but she has more of a prominent chin and it makes such a difference in her facial harmony. I think because I have a crossbite it made me have a weak chin. I feel like my face looks short and makes my nose look bigger. I've seen people get it done and their nose looks smaller
Yes it can kind of off set the nose if that makes sense because the lower face would be more balanced. It can help with projection and lengthening your chin since you mentioned you found your face to be short.
I too have a problem with my bite and I'm going to fix my jaw with braces and surgery to bite and chew properly. A chin implant won't do a thing for an orthodontic and maxillofacial issue.

Same. We are 5 siblings and I am the only one with a weak chin. Their faces look so much more harmonious. And I only just discovered this I always thought I look odd somehow but could not really pinpoint it. I think I´ll try out the chin filler to see how much of a difference it can make.

Thank you Lara. I plan on eventually coming out with a part II video for the Botox Brow lift in which I will touch on forehead size and how it impacts Botox dosage. Right now I am not aware of different forehead shapes other than variations of foreheads being, short, tall, wide or narrow.

DUDE i have always been obsessed over how beautiful certain people's side profile looked because of their nose lips and chin placement esp Jessica Chastain, Emily Blunt, and Meghan. and noticed disproportion ESP with Michael since i always thought his lips were too overpowering and his chin is too small for his face that he could look amazing with a protruded or filled chin and you said the same thing so i wasnt alone!

I got cheek implants 20 years ago and I still love them. ❤️ Its all about balance. My chin is slightly prominent but the cheek implants made my chin in proportion to the rest of my face.

I just got chin filler 2 days ago AND I LOVVVE IT! I previously got lip & cheek fillers (which I love) but I wish I started with the chin first!!!
I got a chin implant ❤ best decision ever!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 hardly any pain, in a week i was back to myself. The first 3 days are a little annoying! In two weeks i was taking pictures and i could see what my face 😢was supposed to look like. It’s all about proportions.

Hey Emily! Great video, very informative whilst still being scientific and factual. A question - I often hear how chin / jawline fillers last 12-18 months. Obviously on day one of month 19, it doesnt just disappear over night, but what does 12-18 months really mean? will there still be a bit there by month 18, or will it all be gone?
Glad you enjoyed the video. It depends on how many syringes (volume) you got. If you got treated to where your chin pretty much touches the Q-tip, or very close to it, it may last a year or longer. Overall on average, filler in the chin probably lasts around a year. This is only the case for chin filler though not for jawline filler.

The women look more feminine, younger, and prettier with the softer chins. Idk why it's a trend for women to have such weirdly strong and manly jaws lately. Let's go back to the soft renaissance jaw lines of whimsy and romance
Thank you for your comment. I don’t think that projecting your chin to the area where it reaches the border of your lower lip would make their face look less feminine I think it looks more balanced. I do think that if the chin projected past this area (The Habsburg Chin or an underbite) then that would be the case where it could make the face look stronger and more masculine.
This was a great video! Can you combine HA fillers with RF micro needling treatments like Morpheus? I think tightening/remodeling around the jaw and under the chin in conjunction with the filler for projection would make for a fantastic result, but not sure if the two are compatible?
Glad you enjoyed the video. Things like RF and micro needling treatments may actually cause the filler to break down faster so I would say it would be wise to not do these treatments in the same area.

Love this video! I had a few syringes of filler in my lips, and I was like, why does my chin look different. Well I never realized I always had chin recession and the lip filler enhanced it. So I got 2 syringes of chin filler a month ago, and I see such a difference, I’m obsessed! I’m going to try and get 2 more syringes in the next couple months. Amazing video.

Sliding Genioplasty is the best solution to enhancing the chin.
I am a guy with substantial recession and will be getting it done soon.
Thanks for your comment. “Best” is subjective and it all depends on how much recession you have and what you are willing to go thru to enhance your chin. Not everyone wants to do an invasive surgery.
Check out mewing as well, especially if you're young. The problem might be incorrect posture and tongue position- the bones of the skull will not project forward if posture is bad, or if breathing is through the mouth instead of nose.
And I don’t get why no one ever tried to balance out my features. My goal was and still isn’t giant lips. My goal is to balance out my profile and it still is. I don’t want to lose all of my nose. A nose that sticks out doesn’t bother me when there is enough balance.
I’m african brit and have very large lips (my greatest features after my eyes i can’t lie!) but whole i do live the volume and serenity it gives to my look, i’ve always though they were a little too big. I do have a slight lip incompetence because of the amount of lip tissue i have; i have to make a bit of an effort to close my lips which causes dimpling in the chin, and of course creating this recessed look.
I’m saving up to do Invisalign as i do have an open bite (moderate bimaxillary protrusion) which may be affecting my chin recession also, so imma keep this information in mind after i see the results from my treatment!

Thank you so much for sharing your story! Full large lips are beautiful and sexy but sometimes they can overpower your profile and oblique view. I think you’re gonna love my next video which is all about Botox to the chin to correct chin dimpling! I’m actually using myself as an example. I had some pretty not so attractive chin dimpling. It’s also a great treatment to go along with chin filler!

@ the pic on the left right before Jessica (idk forgot last name) is my face. I got my lips done so much to balance out THE ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF SPACE between my lips and “cheeks” and I wasn’t over weight. I just want to even out my my profile. I have been insecure about it for YEARS since I was a child not a teenager. Before it was a trend I noticed.

I can’t decide between filler or fat grafting. With fillers I have to get retouch every year and there’s a possibility the filler may migrate and make my chin look wide and long in the long run . On the other hand, fat grafting is permanent and the fat is harvested from my own body.
Actually, I don’t think that fat grafting is always permanent. Also migration is not as much of an issue with the chin.
@Grand Rapids I have never heard of migration being an issue with chin filler. It’s much more common for filler to migrate in the lips and that’s usually because they’re over-injected. The lips are a very unique anatomical area and they are bound by very distinctive borders, unlike the chin which does not have distinct borders. People can be treated with 3-5 syringes in their chin and have no issues with migration. If you use a hyaluronic acid filler to your chin and you did not like it, you can always have it dissolved.

I’m so sick of this lip filler trend. It looks clownish and silly to me. Naturally big lips look harmonious but there’s something about the filler that just looks so fake, clunky and it doesn’t move right. Petite, delicate lips look really beautiful on a lot of people but thanks to this creepy trend everyone feels the need to conform. Well, not everyone.
I here you! Overdone lips can almost look like mutilation. It’s stiff and sausage like. There are so many women with beautiful small lips, and it’s one thing to enhance what you have and another to go overboard. It is a long running trend for sure. @@gingerbreadmangangafarmer2251 Yes i know that. It can enhance someone’s beauty though. That is the point I was making in this video. One feature cannot make someone beautiful, but let’s say you considered a specific person to be “average looking.” If that “average-looking” person had an under-projected chin and you gave them a little more projection to their chin area, it would enhance that “average-looking” person’s beauty.
Sometimes if you have a slightly recessed chin, it can be difficult to know if you are holding the qtip actually straight or if you actually have recession. A more accurate measure would be to take a pic of your side profile and then use procreate or another editing tool to draw a straight line onto the picture to check for recession.
Yes it is a little difficult to do and assess at the same time. You could certainly take a picture and use an editing tool to draw a straight line down.
@@NaturalInjector Yes that's what I did! At first, doing the qtip method, I thought my chin projected normally but upon redoing it with an editing app I realised I have moderate recession. Thanks for the video, I loved it!

On Michael B. Jordan the slight chin recession actually looks great. Better than the 'corrected' photo. The man is GORGEOUS. Rebecca Hall the same. Her slight recession is her charm. Some people DO look better of course when they get the procedure done. Lady Gaga for examole

I asked my ENT years ago about implant. He also does facial surgery and he suggested I need my nose done too. NO. I also love my nose. It has a bump on the bridge but it's unique. Rarely I see someone with a similar nose to mine and think how cute it is.

The side effects are similar to getting filler in other areas. Swelling, bruising, sensitivity to the area for a few days. More serious and rare complications such as vascular occlusion, blindness, stroke.

the way of measuring can be a bit extreme, usually you would put it at the nose and it should form a straight line from your nose to your lips to your chin but this way of vertical measuring means that you would need your chin to be the same amount of protrusion as your lower lip when it usually is slightly less.
I am using the same measurement that we used when I was on the chin filler study. I had to evaluate and score the level of chin recession and this is the exact measurement we used. I think you are referring to ricketts line. I prefer this method because it’s easy for people to determine what the ideal amount of projection should be. Also, it does not take the nose into account because when you do chin filler you are not changing the projection or reduction of the nose, you are addressing and altering the projection of the chin.

Can you also use filler under the chin to fill ths horizontal line behind it that gives a double-chin appearance?
No filler under the chin would just filler, making submental fullness look worse. I’m not sure where this horizontal line you are referring to is.

Best thing I can call is would be a submental crease (formed from some chin ptosis that gets worse upon smiling). Neither patients were overweight. One referred to it as her "bubble chin"
I had never seen anyone inject behind the inferior chin before so opted for mentalis btx, then a higher G filler in the chin and mandible to camouflage it from the sides some.
do you recommend radiesse for the chin or hyloronic acid?
I think Radiesse is a great product for the chin because it’s very robust and mimics bone well but should there be a vascular occlusion there would be no way of dissolving it. This makes hyaluronic acid safer.

I have had 1 ml of chin filler injected 3 months ago and i love the results! My face is also more v shaped from the front, which i like. The first few days it did feel “heavy”, but that went away quickly. I am considering a sliding genioplasty, because I’m afraid of the filler migrating if i keep getting it for the rest of my life. What is your opinion on this? I really enjoyed the video, so helpful! 🥰
Wow only 1 syringe and you see good results. That’s great! I’m guessing you had mild recession? I have not heard much on migration in the chin. It’s more of an issue in the lips because the lips are bound by very distinctive borders. Personally I prefer chin filler over any kind of surgery. Even though sliding genioplasty is your own tissue it’s still invasive but it may be a better option if you are very recessed. All depends on the amount of recession as sliding genioplasty can have benefits.
@@NaturalInjector My chin is about 3 mm away from the line now, so I think i did have mild recession. I will probably have 1 ml more injected soon. Do you inject a bit of filler to the labiomental fold sometimes?
