I remember a kid whose Castle Grayskull seemed to have the dungeon walled in. This may have been Point Dread, but I'm not sure that the trap door to the dungeon would work with Point Dread in there, or if it would actually fit. Pretty much anything larger than a regular figure I had only if I found it on clearance--Panthor, Battle Bones, and the Fright Zone ($5 at Big Lots and still have the box).
my GI JOEs and plastic Army figs also fought in this castle. Many epic battles !
You're supposed to put the He-Man and Skeletor sword together, but I never had Castle Grayskull, so I don't know how much difference the extra width makes toward being able to unlock the door.

Nice review!I remember having the original CG when I was a kid,had so much fun playing with it,along with all the figures.Seening the originals brings back so many memories unfortunately I gave away my collection back in the 90s :( The new version looks pretty close with a bit more detail.
You know what would be so awesome to have??A "MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE" Resin Chess set,totally articulated and everything?Characters are so perfect for it,right?
If you have a jumbo chess board you can use the MOTUC figures, but you have to write down who is which piece otherwise Adam ends up being the queen...not sure why it happens but it does.
He does behave like one too,ha!It's even in the intro.I mean what straight man would use the word "fabulous",right?

I inherited the older set from my cousins when when they turned 20 in the nineties its beat up to hell and I have all Star Wars figs and vehicles in there I like the castle and wish I could have taken better care of it

TBH though the Classics retail was $200 more and came 30 yrs later so one would hope so. I's like to do a vid showing all 4 together - 80's, Classics, 200x and Origins (I guess 5 if I ever get the Mega Blox / Construx one built)

Surprised that the Classic appears to be more detailed and better quality than the Vintage. Usually, re-issues/remakes tend to be either exactly the same or shabbier (or less detailed) than the original. Friendly advice though - when making a closeup toy review, make sure your nails are clipped, lol. Otherwise, excellent review!
This was neat to see because i got mine as a hammy down from my brother and it was missing all the cool stuff. Still was one of my fav toys tho... cool stuff.

The HUGE one with the very articulated figure, better paint apps and far more interior detail is the Masters of The Universe Classics version. The vintage one is the one that comes up when you google "vintage Castle Grayskull". Hope that helps.

Mark Oliver Ordona Nope. The new one is definitely better. The vintage is basically two simple pieces that are just thick enough to be sturdy. The modern is more complex and seems just as durable if not more durable.
Thanks, I had the vintage figures when I was a kid but never bothered to get them again. I did had an opportunity to get the vintage castle grayskull and eternia playset. The reason I didn't bought them because I do believe it's fragile. I still wouldn't get the vintage figures anyway if I had bought the vintage playsets.
The only parts that are brittle seem to be the hinges. It's just hard to get one with all the parts and little to no paint wear for a decent price.
which one is the vintage? the big one?
The smaller one. Mattel released the big one before Christmas last year with a pre-order that started last June.

I had the original .... vintage Castle Greyskull & I remember mine came with a key to open the door. I don`t remember ever having to use a sword. Mine`s came with a key. It was like a yellow orangish color. I think u might be missing a part to it.
czcams.com/video/A6bJSJkkz3w/video.html Man - I did some some research. No key was ever made according to some of the uber collector guys at Power-con if they'd ever seen one. I was able to locate a MIB castle that had been opened with the parts bags still sealed. No luck. It's possible it was from another toy line and fit the castle perfectly or you might have been super lucky and had a parent craft you one from a piece of the runner/sprue the parts came on. I don't suppose you have pics? I'd like to see it regardless. Thanks!
I ALWAYS THOUGHT THE 200X CASTLE GRAYSKULL WAS PRETTY AWESOME COMPARED TO THE 80'S...BUT THIS ONE BLOWS IT AWAY!!!
MY ONLY COMPLAIN IS IT'S PRICED TOO HIGH FOR A DIE HARD COLLECTOR LIKE ME TO BUY...THIS SHOULD'VE BEEN PRICED LOWER TO A REASONABLE $150-199.00 PRICE TAG.
