I attended a GP some years ago - only one driver's merchandise had completely sold out before race day. Kimi Raikkonen. Legend.
he's so popular, esp in China.
I was in Monza in 2019, at the autograph meeting with the fans. Even though there were the Ferrari drivers in Italy, the crowd when totally crazy when Kimi showed up! Such a legend!
I remember him on the drivers parade in China . Few years back , there was a Kimi grandstand . I can appreciate why , you can't put your finger on exactly what it is ,he's just special .

With all the non-stop Max vs Lewis coverage this season, I think the fact that Kimi won’t be on the grid next year gets a little overlooked. The sport will definitely be the lesser without him in F1

There was honestly so much going for mclaren during those years even with mika but issues around reliability and the like just shunted the team, but alas, here we are

Kimi is the epitome of "it is what it is" 🤣 simply a legend. His presence has been a credit to the sport.
I honestly didn’t expect Kimi to speak his heart out. My heart breaks knowing I will never see Kimi on that racing seat any more😢
He's not dying, just retiring. Prob will be racing in small leagues
Everyone that competed against Kimi knew that he would always leave the space to have a clean wheel-to-wheel battle. He's probably one of the most respectful drivers of all time. And he's truly the people's champion. Simply thank you for everything Kimi.

@@devenyvanderweijden2483 Prost was as clean as it gets though, unlike Schumacher and Senna. I value ruthlessness in drivers, it wins championships, but Prost being able to do it against ruthless drivers with his magnificent driving is a horribly underrated feat.
@@Bearical yes he does, one of the few on the grid to do so. Thats how world champions drove back in the day as my guy said, schumacher ,prost and senna all had a similar style with max's. Lewis was like this too back when he didnt have by far the best car ,now he doesnt need to drive like that to win easily. It's what makes the difference between drivers like Kimi who only have 1 title won by 1 point and multiple times champions

I went karting last month and when choosing the kart, I went straight for number 7. I cheered to myself “Kimiiii” and hopped in.

He arrived in F1 only having done full 1 year in single seaters in Formula Renault UK and was considered a potential safety risk by Max Mosley . He leaves F1 with a World Championship in the bag , 21 wins, over 100 podiums and has provided so many fans with so many great memories . I think Suzuka 2005 in particular is a race that will live forever in the moemories of many fans the test of time. Farewell Kimi. Enjoy your retirement . It's been a great ride.

For me USA 2018, Kimi's last win at Scuderia as I became fan of the sport mid 2017.

Kimi is such a great father, we never really get to see that since he keeps his family life private as he's very much entitled to do. But you can tell he's pretty excited to spend time with his family and help his kids go karting. So happy for him.

i think it's so lovely how he truly cherishes his family so much. always makes it clear that f1 is second only to his family, that nothing is more important than his wife and his kids. it's very heartwarming
The kimi he lets you see versus the kimi he trulu is, are very different people. This is just a glimpse of the real him. Having been lucky enough to meet him a few times (and his Wife) - he isn’t the ice man portrayed. Hes actually a nice bloke who has old school values, parties hard and likes to drive fast cars and smoke like a chimney (not sure he still does but always had a smoke on the go out the back of the paddock) lol

I'll never forget Kimi going for a magnum when the race was suspended by bad rain and he knew that was the end of the race when everyone else was still in their racing gear plus all his interviews with Martin bundle are legendary
Watching him eating that ice lolly whilst everyone else were running round really stressed out was hilarious 😂

Kimi's car has the KERS system flooded by rain so his race was over at that point. That's why he's in normal clothing during that time

I've only ever supported Kimi. I even stopped watching F1 for a while when he left (though it was for other reasons). Really gonna miss him and I don't know if there is any other driver I will fully support like I did with him.

When Lawrence asked if Kimi would be involved if his kids get into racing, he said "for sure I'd get involved, I'd fix the go karts, get things ready..."
Kimi grew up in a working-class family where he, his dad, and his brother essentially did all the work themselves, and it shows how simple and humble his worldview has remained. Love this man.
Kimi helping/training Robin in the future be like: "Steering wheel! Don't forget your steering wheel and gloves! Where is your drink?!"

His prime was mclaren. Immense speed. As Ron Dennis said it himself, fastest driver since ayrton senna.
He was the fastest driver on the grid back in mclaren, no one could have touched him, if the car was reliable. Top 3 fastest driver ever, sadly didn't have the same kinda blistering speed in his second stint
I’ll never forget COTA 2018. My first F1 race to attend in person. Was with my dad and grandpa and they bought me a Kimi hat before the race. I’ll never get rid of that hat. Thanks Kimi!

The beast, the no nonsense racer, the guy who made F1 an absolute joy, the guy with the best sense of humor and the fairest of them all; never had a tantrum, never talked bad about anyone (who didn't deserve it). The embodiment of "go, get the work done, go back". Straightforward, no fuss, no drama, caring with everyone even though he doesn't show it much. A hecking beast behind the wheel, a man capable of driving a golf cart around the track overtaking everyone. I've always loved him, he's always and will always have my respect
Been following Kimi since 2005. Always class and no bs, letting the talking be done on track. Immensly quick when he has his days, even at this age is which says it all. Grande Kimi - Tack för allt!
I was never a fan of Kimi's but the time he met the wee lad who was sobbing his little heart out when he went out and then again the following year was a lovely touch and I liked that a great deal 👍🏻
