- In this exclusive video I chat to Andrew Porter and Nick Hutson about the transformation of Tomb Blaster at Chessington World Of Adventures Resort. Tomb Blaster opened at the park in 2002 and has had an extensive amount of changes for the 2020 season.
Andrew Porter talks about the changes that he decided to make inside the attraction including a complete change of the story-line. Nick Hutson talks about the brand new soundtrack he has composed for the attraction along with information on the changes of music throughout the ride. We also share a full on ride POV from the updated Tomb Blaster and much more!

@@joshuagreenslade3445 Funny enough, this refurb of Tomb Blaster does reference Abdab at the beginning of the ride where the spirit said "Some fool disturbed my chamber", that "fool" being Abdab so that means this refurbishment of the ride's story takes place after the story of Terror Tomb

I also went on it Annual Passholder day and I can’t believe I’m thinking about this maybe being the best ride in Chessington!

Overall the redesign looks very good. I get the audio is very much like a Hollywood movie but it’s a shame it’s not as memorable and quite generic. Lighting looks so much better and really makes the ride. You can tell it’s been done by people who really care about the experience.

@@astheniceel13 Yeah) I was Born 1988: I would have lived through all the 90s from the beginning to the very end and the terra Tombs was really cool? I remember the bit when abdab is asleep at the beginning
@@joshuagreenslade3445 I was born in 2006 so I only experienced the ride when it was Tomb Blaster and Professor Burps Bubbleworks as Bubbleworks and Gruffalo but also I really enjoyed the refurbishment of TB in 2020 since it was going for the Terror Tomb aesthetic and the audio was on spot

Me and my daughter loved Tomb Blaster when we visited 2 years ago. The refurb looks and sounds great on video. Reminds me a bit of Challenge of Tutankhamon at Walibi Belgium, with the villian directly confronting and talking to you during the ride.
You should go on the new one it’s so amazing now. Also tomb Blaster is my fav ride.
@@tombblasterfan3584 We live in The Netherlands, so we won't be going any time soon. Maybe we'll make a trip again if the new area coming in a few years time is any good.

Can't really judge on ride via this video as got to I think for this one ride & judge it and this is something I am thinking to start doing more of this year. But with the actual video, really enjoyed, found interesting and yeah think video was really good presented. Cheers for this 2020 update, thought ride was ok as it was then, but again its good to have changes every now and again. But yeah, cheers for video. 😀👍

Tomb Blaster reminds me of Aladdin with the voice of The Cave Of Wonders and the Cobra version of Jafar. Make sure you and Shawn look after yourselves as you and him need to keep staying well.😊

Did it last Sunday, was honestly not expecting such great improvements. It's so nice for this ride to have a proper story now, but it does make it feel a little confused as there's still guns.
@@themeparkreel I know, it's just that the guns can distract from the story a tad, not really a big deal, just a little nit pick.
I went on the opening Friday and thought it was a fantastic upgrade, certainly up there as one of the best rides in the park now! If only they would remove the shooting element..
I went to Chessington and it was my favourite ride. Only problem was it was always closed.

I think th referb look great (and the video was awesome as well.) The only thing that I would change is the lights on the laser guns as they are quite distracting, or just make the ride a regular dark ride and remove the interactive elements completely.

We went to Chessington for the first time ever this month . We went on tomb blaster, and were very underwhelmed. Watching this after going , I now realise pretty much everything was broken when we went on 😅. Every scene was nearly in complete darkness compared to this vid , and that boulder was just sat still . I'm shocked it can get SO broken in the space of a year .

The only thing that needs changing now is the guns that need taking off because the led targets ruin some of the animatronics and the red dots the guns make do ashwell but if looks like a better experience now
Its better than the original Tomb Blaster, but not as good as Terror Tomb

It'd be nice if they turn it back to Terror Tomb in the future. I think the story, set pieces, and music of the original would still work in today's standards, especially the Juke Box Jewel! Just get rid of the guns and targets, keep the theming, but enhance the lighting and audio, fix old effects, bring back the original story with Abdab stealing the Jewel!
I’m not a fan of it becoming more of a Ghost Train id prefer it to have more of an Egyptian Feel such as the Likes Of Laser Raiders but That is Poorly themed but a great style

Hmm seems more like a vanity project than actually giving what the ride needs...
The new *stoooory* felt like it was concocted straight out of a 13 year olds brain on a forum, the snake at the end emphasising the esses had me in stiches.
The new music is definitely is an improvement, but the lighting seems all over the place. Green and Blue LED lights? Spotlights on the roof? And why is the flying dagger scene all lit up?
There are multiple videos online showcasing the original Terror Tomb so i'm not sure why simple effects were not fixed?

To be honest I think it’s a lot creepier and I like how different I’ve been riding this for 5 years and it’s better
Went on this yesterday, boulder effect broken, spinning tunnel broken, axe throwing broken. There was also a massive showroom light on above the snake set piece which ruined the atmosphere. Really not too impressed on how the ride is being run so soon after this ‘refurbishment’. Audio still great through!

The ventilators in the roof have to be open for Covid regulations therefore they do cast unwanted light on the cobra scene.
For gods sakes, if they wanted a new ghost train, they should have brought terror tomb back properly. It’s not as if all the animatronics were destroyed, the guitar mummy is on the turntable for starters… and the abdabs they basically destroyed should have been replicated, they’re not that complicated. A lot of the animatronics from TT were found in one of the storage rooms in chessington years ago, they let a few go and they turned the rest into monks for the queline. But with them being built by farmer, those steel frames would definately still be fully intact.. I wish merlin would just bloody pull their finger out, get their act together and stop faffing about, they have the people capable to doing such a thing, but they decide not to for whatever reason.

@@ThemeParkWorldwide with the refurbishment that Duel is currently undergoing,do you think Tomb Blaster will be refreshed for next season? Tomb Blaster was the inspiration behind Duel. If the guns on Tomb Blaster hadn’t provided popular,Alton Towers wouldn’t have modernised The Haunted House into Duel The Haunted House Strikes Back. Tomb Blaster could certainly benefit from TLC. Multiple effects are broken for instance the rolling bolder. Even slight adjustments to Tomb Blaster I.E the removal of the Guns and return of the Forbidden Tomb name would be good. The gun system could certainly be removed as it’s the same as that on Duel. Furthermore the Forbidden Tomb sign is still intact hidden under the Tomb Blaster sign. It’s crazy just how noticeable the Forbidden Tomb sign is. Even those who don’t know about the original sign could probably see it. The signs staring at you in the face.
Went on it for the first time this year the other day. Really not impressed in all honesty- should have just redone the whole ride.
First when I found out (only by a facebook group, theres no sign to say the ride has been changed at the park) I thought it was great that they'd done it and was really looking forward to going on the ride.
Went on it Thursday, was excited to see what they'd done. The guy working the queue was into it, great and enthusiastic especially considering he had to run from the start of the indoor queueline up into the building to the loading bay because there was a lack of staff because of the coronavirus outbreak. Got in the seats, started going in. Priest idea was great, very creepy but great. Most of the laser lights have been removed or off which made the first scene very boring.
The ride is now SO DARK you can hardly see your hands. I'm disappointed that they've also got rid of the other soundtrack. Most of the ride now relies on flashing lights (which I'm scared is gonna give an epileptic person a seizure because its so dark and sudden), the flashlight idea was ... different. You can hardly hear any of the talking in the soundtrack now.
The ride isn't fun anymore, I got bored halfway through. I'm really dissapointed. We got off the ride and didn't bother to go on it again the rest of the day, usually I go on about 2 or 3 times in one day but found it so boring we didn't bother.
Can imagine a lot of families with kids with special needs (especially ASD or Epilepsy) will avoid this ride now. Seriously think this is the worst incarnation of the ride yet.

The “revamp” is only small and not any transformation from how it was before, it’s really not that entertaining. The new soundtrack is good because it adds some more feeling of drama but the ride still feels very flat and naff. No adventure but no scares either, the new story adds nothing (it’s just a voiceover trying to explain the ride to you and hard to hear properly). It’s not as good as when Tomb Blaster was new but better than the broken down version in recent years. Not a patch on Terror Tomb
I hated this it scared me as a child
To me they have just took loads of good stuff out.. like the mummy with the axe and the cage with the skellinton in the ground 😑 and just made it dark... Could be so much better! The darkness and lights are brilliant.. Disappointed I thought it was better before they did this but wasn't no where as good as terror tomb brilliant ride ruined
