One of the reasons you can know she's lying is because she thinks latina and being from Spain is the same, which is not. Just because we have the same language (with many differences) does not mean is the same culture at all. We even have diferent audio and subtitle options in streaming platforms 😅
Spain is closer to as a people to the UK or Ireland than to Latin America, the people are by no means exotic! Not to sound negative against Spain, but both her and her husband Alec don’t seem to know how different Spain is from Latin America! I think they know very little about Spain! I’m a French American woman (fully bilingual) and it’s funny because I grew up with a girl like this in the US. Her mom was a French teacher (not French just spoke it) and they would go every now and then and she would always act as though she was from France, her “home country” even though she barely speaks French 😂 and has no family there 😂 her mom never pretended to be French and spoke the language , but her daughter constantly acted just like “hilaria”. Latin culture itself is really diverse because of the many different countries with their own culture and tradition. She does not seem to realize that Latin and Spanish culture are not the same thing.

Latin isn’t even a culture though. It’s just a geographic term to say someone is from Latin America. Latin/latin@ in general is misused horrible by a lot of people. People forget that Latin America is also comprised of settler colonial states. There’s a reason people speak Spanish and Portuguese (white languages) for a reason. And explains why a lot of upper and middle class people are white or mestizo. And indigenous and black are low income and often forgotten by their governments unless it’s to promote their culture to attract tourist.
She clearly also dye’s her hair and eyebrows on a continues basis to look more “Latin”. That is INSANE!

When I was a bartender in soho they both came to our restaurant few times, and she told me and to the rest of the staff that she was Spanish and even spoke in Spanish to us with an accent from Spain. I was shocked when the news came out with this story.

When I was 11-13 I went to a school in the US that was mostly Korean and my friends were Korean so I started to pretend I was Korean too so that I could keep and make more friends. This reminds me of that. I made up a whole backstory, everyone knew I was lying and I lost all of my friends eventually
That's understandable as a child needing to fit in, and yes its a need... But at an older age it's not, especially she doesn't need to fit in ...she's not even in an Hispanic area or culture. Not that we can know for sure but I do think the Hayek theory he mentioned in this vid might be correct. She has the bit of experience from her dad's side mixing with that culture type, knew that about Alec..and thought "yeah I can umm 'work that' ". From then on its grown and was working on him..he seems to feed it too..so she's stuck with it in more ways than one.
You know what’s even worse? She’s pushing this grift onto her children. She claims her skin is naturally tan and that she has honey eyes, clearly her belief of what a stereotypical Spanish woman is. She constantly points out how much darker her skin “naturally” is compared to her 6 very pale kids (nothing wrong with that), and that her kids don’t look like her kids because they’re so white. She also claims that people on the street had often mistaken her for the nanny because of that, when she’s actually naturally white too. The psychological damage this has done to her children can’t be reversed.
What is wrong with people? Those poor kids. 😔

Mentioning that she is white is not really relevant here, as we Spaniards are technically white. Yeah, we have some Northern African heritage among other things, but idk I'm pretty sure despite that and the tan skin/dark features we're labeled as white.

I would like to clarify something. Neither of them has actually admitted to what they've done so that's what I mean by hold them accountable. I dont think you should pay for the rest of your life for every mistake you've ever made BUT I do feel that way when you haven't even taken the first step of admitting it nor taken personal accountability. You can't just brush certain things off. Especially serious claims involving children or racial issues. These things must be addressed. An important correction: Latina means from a Latin American country, which Spain is not. It is a European country.
Hispanic means of Spanish culture. Even if Hilaria was from Spain, she would not be Latina
"Latina" is used wrongly though. Literally all countries where a language derived from Latin (a European language) is spoken could be a Latin country. That includes Spain, Portugal, France, Romania... And Latin America includes Brazil, where Spanish is not the main language.
Latin comes from Rome. Also in Europe..

Did anyone watch the video? Sloan covers it and mentions Selma and the fact that Hilary was doing the Spanish act before marrying Alec. Also it has been proven that she used a surrogate when she accidentally had a biological baby and a surrogate baby only a few months apart and had no other explanation.
