The scary thing about huggy wuggy (aside from, like, literally everything else) is the fact that it's not actually that fast at first. It's not running toward you in the hallway, it's just sort of slowly lumbering your way. But once it gets in the vents? That thing takes off like a racehorse. It's like it was designed to crawl through all the tight spaces that you thought you'd be safe in.
Huggy in the vents: I'ma show you true speed.
Oh my god. The last sentence of your comment truly scared me.
@@Wingedlizar OP's or?
Well the guy on the 1st tape did mention mysterious security systems. So it was probably designed for that kind of thing.
its because he’s tall soft and lanky so it big open spaces its hard to control himself but in a tight space he can use his long and strong arms and legs to crawl very quickly
I'm glad Huggy doesn't have a big jumpscare "scream", the animalistic running is all I need for a nightmare.
I mean... they have a very loud sound effects while chasing scene. It contributes
But yeah animation is brilliant on its own
Yea.. I’m glad he doesn’t either..
The main thing that scares me is quick, loud, sudden sounds.. and spooky music.. that gradually gets more intense.. when being chased or just for no reason..
Yep and the smile, eyes and teeth
No kidding..that was freaking me out ⊙﹏⊙
I hate it when games cheaply scare u when u focus on something then they jumpscare

them saying the doll “smells just like real poppies” is especially creepy because poppies aren’t typically known for their sweet smell. they’re connected to deep sleep and death, if i remember correctly. love that

Man, huggy's vent chase is absolutely terrifying, its movements are so fluid and realistic plus the tight space you have to run around... Props to the devs, they've done a amazing work
Indeed!
And props to Markiplier for playing it for us and his braveness
And it's weird, as when huggy fell, and hit its head on the vent, there was blood splatter
The frantic movement of the limbs is what bothers me the most in that sequence.

coming back here after seeing chapter 3 makes the tapes even more terrifying. 29:12 you can literally hear the 'hour of joy' happening during this log
Right! and the first tape "An entire hour in the most magical toy factory on earth" why an hour? hmmm....I wonder whyyyy
Wait, 'hour of joy'? I haven't watched Chapter 3 yet, but I fell in love with the song made by RecD; one of Catnap's lines in that song mentions an 'hour of joy'. I didn't know that was anything specific.
@@catbatrat1760you really should watch a playthrough of chapter 3 if you haven't. The Hour of Joy explains what happened to all the missing co-workers.
Mark: “I’m not afraid of you!”
Me: “Good, I’ll be scared for both of us 😃”
He is def not honest about not being afraid, as a coping mechanism🤭
Huggy's design doesn't inherently scare me, It's the body movements that are super creepy.
right!!! first of all , this game and especially huggy's movements are beautifully animated and it literally looks like real movement. also, huggy's design actually plays into the way he moves and the creep factor of it. think about it; when you hear that a horror villain has long and gangly limbs, you think of something bony and emaciated, long nails, etc etc. but huggy is a perversion of childish wonder, and because of that he has this sort of rubber-hose body, his arms slink along like furry snakes. it's a combination of terrifying things we've seen time and time again, but blended into something completely original and something that breathes new life into indie horror and horror creature designs. i cannot WAIT to see where this game goes, and i really hope we see huggy again:)
@@h0undiie Most of his body is physics based.
@@pkfiremain710 yeah i didn't mean it literally, just that his arms don't have bones and look rubber-hosey

i really appreciate just how well Huggy was animated. all of his movements felt very real and creepy. He moved the way you would exspect somthing like that to move and still being uncanny. He didnt just materialize like most jump scares and he interacted with his environment but ducking around objects in a really smooth way. 10/10 monster
Particularly in the tight conveyor passages/vents. He seems somewhat procedurally animated, letting him lank his hands around as he moves. Add in some uncanny proportion, and that's a dang good recipe. Bonus points for him being established as a tall intimidating threat, but then freakin ferally running your shit down.
From another comment huggy’s entire body except for the hands and legs are physics based, basically only the hands and legs are animated.
I think one of the best things about him is when you first see him animated he isn't fast running you down, he's quite slow. It adds to the terror of the monster.
The way he sprints and lunges on all fours at the end of the chase scene if you don't pull the crate down is horrifying
even his death is terrifying. The way he slams down those pipes just feels too real, you can feel where his bones are broken
I love mark; he enters an empty room and proceeded to say hi to all the objects, So sweet.
At the very end when Poppy says "You opened my case" Was just so similar in FNAF Sister Location when Baby says "You won't die". The voices and how it's breathy and echo-y. Baby and Poppy's designs are also similar. Like for the fact they have pigtails and were made for little girls yet they were locked away. The red hair and rosy cheeks just scream Baby.
Some of the people behind this company are also behind the Minecraft Baby animations you see all over CZcams. Definitely not a coincidence let's just say
I'll say it is a coincidence
Whoever animated Huggy's vent chase did an excellent job. The stooped posture and fast-paced, small-steps with his hands also stepping along the wall is just like how a tall person would run through a vent like that, but the addition of his hurried stomping and sound design makes it really terrifying.
The fact that the people who made this make minecraft fnaf animations makes it even more impressive!

I've seen so much horror. This game is genuinely terrifying. Huggy's who style is incredible. AND THE VENT CHASE. The way Huggy moves is so good. I've become immune to jump scares, but Huggy's got me really bad.
Ikr. This gives me nightmare vibes. I love it.
this video was the first one to successfully get me with a jump scare in a long time. So impressive!!
They didn’t get me in a traditional way, but I’d argue the lasting feeling during the chases and repeated jumpscares was almost more impressive. The jump scares, though they didn’t get a physical flinch out of me even the first time, still left me with that little pump of adrenaline many times after most jump scares would have worn out and lost effect. Rather than just a momentary thrill it was more ambient dread to me. (That being said the last jumpscares to really really get me, more than once or twice, were when The Joy Of Creation first came out - and I’ve since desensitized myself to those too)
I haven't been scared in a horror game in a long while
yeah uhm. Wow. this game got more screams out of me then the entirety of the fnaf series Markie has uploaded. This game has potential! not that I'll be playin it myself, I am perfectly content watching others
That vent chase is probably the most terrifying chase scene I've ever seen!
Everytime Mark says he’s not a masochist, it just further proves he is one
it's Huggy's movements that are horrifying. he's legit animated like a living ragdoll.
Definately helps with the doll-like look.
Like when you think it is too tall to pass through the door and then it crawls to give you a tight squeeze
@@nicolaripa2750 YES EXACTLY 💀
It’s otherworldly but because the animators went through the trouble to think through how it would move if it was a real physical being you actually think it could be real and that’s why it’s harder to rationalize away the fear
@@markhaus right,,, i expected him to move more... yk... robotic, machine-like. the fact that his movements are so wiggly and flexed, to the point where he can squeeze though the vents, makes it horrifying.
just realized that he kinda reminds me of Mangle lol
I love how, in every single Let's Play I've seen of this game, they high five Huggy in the first area. I wouldn't be able to resist either.
Who doesn't wanna high five a giant toy?
Everyone playing this game: I won’t leave ya hanging bro!!!
It makes for a great way to draw a player’s attention to a spot that’s important later. Huggy’s hand is held up, so you look at his hand to high five it…but then later when he’s holding the key the player remembers that it couldn’t have been there the whole time bc they were JUST looking at that hand???
Intentional or not, its a brilliant way to start building tention immediately without having to do much more than play a sound and spawn a key
Saaame
I feel so basic after realizing that everybody else also gave Huggy a high five...
Coming back after chapter 3 came out, didn’t realize the log of 1006 was the “final log” and that makes it more eerie knowing that it was made during the hour of joy (officially knowing that it was)

@@SleepingLittleOwl You are right, but sometimes games (and movies) rely too much on them, this game doesn't.
It has a very good build up... It takes some time, makes you learn some mechanics while learning about the place itself with texts and environmental story telling. You know shit is about to hit the fan... sometime. The chase scene was genuinely creepy!

I particularly liked the way Huggy was introduced as this towering creature with a very slow, lumbering movement (the way he ducks through the door felt very evocative of Lady Dimitrescu), and when you get into the vent, for a moment you feel safe. Then all of a sudden, you see him scrambling rapidly through the vents and have that "Oh F***!" moment when you realize the chase is on. They did such a good job of spiking the adrenaline and keeping it amped.
Highly agreed. Cannot wait till chapter 2
Also he’s probably faster in vents because of his lanky legs so he can move faster idfk
@@Del80VR nah it was just to make "US" think that huggy is a slow kind of monster like Dimitrescu slow but menacing with it's towering height kind of deal, so naturally you would feel safe in the vents because "no way it could fit in the vents let alone move fast at all." but then it does so fuck.

5:52 anyone else get the backrooms song (everywhere at the end of time/it's just a burning memory) vibe from the backpack info tape?
A little. You sure you’re not missing “An Empty Bliss Beyond This World”?
The way they handled the monster on this is just fucking incredible. At every turn it is unsettling and terrifying and it gives you NO TIME to wait. Fucking applause for the devs
Agreed, first game to truly get me really.. terrified! Before I was scared of Fnaf, but this? Hehe!!
Yeah those devs are fuckig scary
right
I'm in bed watching this at 2am and I need to go piss. There's a shadow in the corner wtf do I do?
@@goodlookinouthomie1757 piss on the ghost to assert dominance.
The chase scene is done so beautifully. I’ve never felt adrenaline like that from a horror game in a long time
I gotta say, my mental state is well enough to enjoy horror games atm, and this game, is absolutely terrifying at the chase sence, and I gotta say, I can better understand why people enjoy horror games, and watching them, and this game definitely made me appreciate the horror genre a lot better.

Agreed, exactly what I thought
Gotta play the teacher level on little nightmares 2

24:58 made me laugh so hard, perfectly unexpected death.
Who all is rewatching parts 1 & 2 while we wait for mark to play the released part 3 😂
Jump scares normally don't affect me, but I'm gonna be honest, Huggy's chase genuinely terrified me.
i wouldn't consider it a 'jump' scare if you're actively running away from it
@@disarisumbrus4492 I mean yeah but when it catches you that’s a jump scare
Whatever it would be categorized as, it was executed amazingly and caused me to throw my phone
I think it's the way he almost slithers through the vents. The way his his arms and legs bend at weird directions makes sense because of the toy design he's based off of, but also adds a huge spook level because when he's in motion ANY part of his limbs can turn and slink around.
He move like an actual living plush doll.
All of them fucking spooked me, And I’m just like you. I haven’t been properly spooked in ages but just the intro spooked the absolute *FUCK* out of me.
Huggy in open space: I'm going for a stroll
Huggy in confined spaces: lightspeed, take it or leave it
Those are VENTS, not tracks.
@@user-mp6xl7ge5j clearly huggy missed that memo XD
Huggy in space: To infinity, AND BEYOND!!!
@@user-mp6xl7ge5j Okay? They never said those were tracks.
@@littlemoth4956 This was supposed to be a joke, like its vents, not a running track, but its a bit lame.
Im rewatching the first 2 Chapters preparing for when he plays Chapter 3
surprised to see that he didn't notice Huggy Wuggy poking his head through the blue conveyor door at 15:41
I haven’t been this creeped out and honestly terrified of a game in a while. The atmosphere, the Setting, the Concept, the Monster, everything was just so perfectly horrifying
the animation! i’m impressed
Hello Gintoki
It gives off some portal vibes to me mixed with, obviously, horror, which makes it wonderful
Someone pointed out this could be a guy who is experiencing Opiate induced hallucinations thus the name "poppy" play time and the excessive use of poppy flowers. The Huggy thing that is after you might just be a security guard and the place you are at is just an abandoned toy factory. idk
Who's getting sleep NOT THIS GIRL🙃
Doesnt the fact that Huggy is a living creature mean that he was conscious the whole time when we first see him and hes just staying very still
Yeah he was legitimately messing with the guy at first and by the time the chase starts he’s just like “ok I had my fun time to die now.”
if u look good enough when he's standing still u can see him breathe
@@xxvii9476 beat me to it
@@xxvii9476 Oh damn I didn't even notice at first!

source: the game theory
The scariest thing about poppy playtime is its fandom
Anyone else coming back to the first chapter and entertaining the idea that the written warnings in the hugging chase sequence could’ve been written by CraftyCorn of the smiling critters? May be a stretch, but it’s a theory
There hasn't been a jumpscare in a while that genuinely got me as much as whenever Huggy would jumpscare. That game is awesome
Fr the vent chase was made well
These bots are everywhere
Frr. And it got me every time too
can anyone give me the time-stamp please
I'm too scared to watch
Anyone know when Chapter 2 comes out? I can’t wait to see it
the fact that Mark didn't realize every time he said "BLOOD" there was a freaking broken toy there, and on Poppy's door there were toys hanging, and the employees aren't "missing", they are still in the factory... like, I'm not the only one thinking of this possibility am I?
I'm certain that's what they are going for
@@ellec7188 it does seem like the logical conclusion, but I haven't seen anyone in the comments talk about it idk why
@@ayl9261 like I mean poppy is conscious of her surroundings
If we take into account the recordings of the interview and the scientist, it wouldn't be much of a stretch to say that the employees/workers probably transferred themselves into toys (or robots)
Doctor Eggman but slightly more of a psychopath
The scariest moments in a horror game:when something jump scares you
How can someone playing a horror game be calming ✋😭 he's so comforting!
This is how a horror game should be created. No jumpscares in every minute, logical parts and of course perfect timing of scaring. The vent scene was super terrifying and the devs made this game super good. 10/10!
I agree with you, but the design, graphics, the ideas and the amount of time passed for the story (aka horror game) to happen is also perfected which makes it a 20/10 for me honestly
There should at least be random jumpscares every once in a while
Yea big creature chasing you in a vent is a big no no
@@akuhakare2201 Uh… Hard disagree? I can’t tell if this is sarcasm or not so sorry if I’m missing it but random jumpscares just completely ruin any attempt to buildup tension in… Well, not just horror games, basically ANY horror media.
@@akuhakare2201 Most people when talking about jumpscares they usually mean those over-the-top, in your face, from nothing to bam in 0.01 second scares, but honestly? Moments when you look and see Huggy has vanished, his arm slither into the doorway, his face in the vent, or the red light alarm and toys dropping on you on the moving conveyor belt I would also consider jumpscares, at least mild ones. While they don’t give the biggest screams, it’s enough to make a player stop in their tracks or mess with their focus, building up tension and suspense for when the real scare comes around. This is a perfect setup for horror, a gradual build of fear, or maybe even a false sense of security (“they’re trying to scare me with this? Haha it’s nothing) just for the pinnacle to happen and sweep them off their feet.
this game is actually terrifying. the jumpscares, the movement, the animation, the sound effects, the voices, the designs, everything is really scary. man the people who made this have so much talent. this game is gonna get real big, honestly i rate is a 10/10. huggy is gonna give me nightmares for 4 days.
I don’t mean too, honest, but I keep fucking watching these gameplays of Huggy at night. I keep looking back to make sure he doesn’t exist 😅. I have a phobia of dolls and creepy toys so I’m still scared shitless lol
omggg yes huggy is so terrifying, in such a good way
@@etsunara. nope
@@etsunara. it depends on how you view it. I personally don’t like anything horror yet I still watch
lmao specifically 4 days?
After watching all the chapters. It show how serious this is. Huggies pursuit, all of the mascots, mommy long legs, catnap. I'm not sure what exactly what the whole story is but that's really the point of the game. It doesn't want you to find out what happened in the first episode and the second episode spreads more light on the story.
Chapter 3 shows how it's taking a toll on the player and spreads more light on the truth and the horror of what happened. But what's still a mystery is what the prototype is and how all the toys have some sort of Sentience.
I’ve played this game myself and watched at least five other people play it, and mark’s reaction at the beginning of the chase scene is my favorite by far lmfaoooo
"I just know that at some point, when I turn around, Huggy is not gonna be there anymore, and that's gonna make me very concerned."
Foreshadowing.
