I've been spending a few days learning the metamodel, and it's been one of the most important techniques I've ever learned. If you have goals for your life, and you use the metamodel to make sure your having empowering beliefs then it's very powerful.

Happy to hear you're learning it. Most NLP students overlook it because it's not as sexy as the other techniques, but it's the foundation of NLP. Learn it and you'll understand NLP much better and be able to use it more effectively than if you don't learn it.

Excellent explanation my man! How can I identify limiting beliefs deeply buried in the Subconscious? Usually NLP techniques are more applicable for issues which are known. Maybe I'm generalizing lol but besides questioning the belief already known, how can I identify an unknown belief?
That's a good question. NLP deals with what is both conscious and unconscious. Some practitioners prefer to direct the unconscious and some, like me, prefer to bring what's in the unconscious into conscious awareness to make changes and then let it slip back into unconsciousness. When it comes to unconscious limiting beliefs there is no need to try to hunt them down and rid yourself of them. I've attempted such a witch hunt and it was not a good use of time. Instead go after what you want. Push yourself. Test what's possible. Inevitably you will run headfirst into inner resistance. Usually, but not always, this is an unconscious limiting belief. It's time to then welcome it into consciousness and work on it. The same goes for finding yourself repeating destructive patterns. The cause is usually an unconscious limiting belief. Recognize what's happening and then go from there.
To sum it up, limiting beliefs are not a problem until they're a problem. Don't think that you first have to rid yourself of all limiting beliefs before you can pursue what you want. First start by pursuing what you want and deal with the obstacles, inner and outer, as you go.
Wow thank you for the quick response Maestro and eloquently answered. Almost felt like you read my mind, when you spoke about destructive behavior. In my case is self sabotage (fear of failure and success at the same time lol). My case is one of those when you know conciously what's the issue and yet you cannot correct regardless of the tools. Tools like meditation, nlp and I spent so much money and yet the issue still lingering. If you're not too pricey I might do private sessions with you. I enjoy the simplicity of the content. A lot of the times we search for the answers to life’s problems but when we actually find the solution to our problem we write it off as bullshit bc the answer is so simple and straightforward. I’m beginning to realize that life is a lot simpler than we perceive and we only make it more difficult than it needs to be.
Is it a limit or a creative guideline ? Both are interpretations, yet produce very different attitudes and outcomes.
Ultimate Truth = There is that which is.
When it's unconscious you unfortunately can't decide on how to interpret it. But I do agree with you that purposefully imposing constraints on yourself like taking something that would normally take a year and posing the challenge to do it in 3 months can be helpful. Also, if you encounter a limitation that you can't change as in something external that you have no control over, reframing your interpretation of the limit as a creative guideline will probably serve you much better.

How many times a day do you recommend practicing counter beliefs to break the pattern? Should it be one limiting belief at a time or can more than one belief be worked on at a time?
Do it any time you feel limited. If you want to do something and you're not doing it, it's likely due to a limiting belief. Identify the belief and follow what I talk about in the video. Don't think that you have to chase down every limiting belief you have. Always do it in the context of moving closer to what you want.
Good info, but I’d love to see more congruence in your delivery. How often do you *sound* or *look* joyful or happy when you’re saying the words joyful and happy? I’d suggest it could be more. ;D
In delivery, yes I agree, I could have been more congruent. This video was made more than a year ago. What you're seeing is not so much incongruence within myself but the difficulty of speaking to a piece of glass and plastic as if I'm having a conversation with a real person. What is the best way to master the meta model and each type of question?

Ugly is a subjective term. Ugly is not a fact. Ugly as an opinion can only come from comparing yourself to someone else, which does not serve you. Perhaps in a room full of fashion models you might be considered ugly. In a room full of people who look similar to you suddenly you become average. Put yourself in a room full of people who have been disfigured and you might be considered beautiful.

A memory flushed in where I saw in my mind's eyes that if I met new people, they will lose their interest in me thinking that I am not interesting, I am not fun, I am not smart and when they do find it out, they will associate/be friends with me anymore. So, they will start looking down on me, like I am worthless.

What are about the experience that you never had before? Like doesnt know how to drive and now has limiting belief about being a driver.
What is the limiting belief? If the limiting belief is that because you've never driven, you don't know how to drive, that's an accurate belief. It's true and it keeps you safe. If the limiting belief is "I can't learn to drive" you can challenge that. There are plenty of things you've learned to do. You didn't know how to do them before you learned it, but once you learned it, now you know.

I'm not familiar with magick of hermetics but it NLP is all about having more choice and control in your life.

Yes and the next step would be to structure your examples in your unconscious template of certainty. That's when you turn pro.
Yes, but they are very often 'minute' and your conscious mind tends to say "yeah, so what?" or "probably just a rare fluke." The conscious mind gives a person ZERO credit, especially not if they've had a lifetime if negating every positive thing the have done, perhaps.
Is "resistance" equal to "Limiting Belief"?
Not necessarily but you may experience resistance as a result of bumping up against a limiting belief.

You're limiting beliefs are unconscious so they seem as real a limitation to you as bumping into an actual brick wall. The point is not to hunt down every possible limiting belief you have and destroy it. Start with asking yourself what do you want that you don't have? Once you know what stops you, ask yourself, what stops you? This will reveal your limiting belief.
Of course you have to be realistic. If you say you want to put the moon in your back pocket. Something like that is completely absurd and what stops you is reality and facts, not a limiting belief.
Do you want love? Wealth? Happiness? If so, and you don't have them already, what stops you?

Any time you find yourself, especially with internal dialogue, saying words like "Can't, Have to, Must, Should or shouldn't" know that you are bumping up against a limiting belief.

Ok, but the conscious reaction to a counter example is usually: "Pfft! Yeah, so? - tiny ass insignificant example! - I'm gonna need more".
One counterexample, perhaps. Keep accessing them though and it will change the generalization. At the very least it will loosen it up to other possibilities.

Why is this called an NLP techniques? It seems to be a common sense approach.
If it's common sense, is this something you already do naturally? You're aware of your unconscious beliefs that limit you and you take the time to make them conscious by listening to the language patterns you use, find the positive intent of the limiting belief and use counterexamples to dismantle the belief? I don't know anyone who does this who hasn't had NLP training or some similar training.
Since this is just a ten minute video I didn't go into more depth, but as common sense as it may seem after hearing it explained, how common of a practice is it? It's not something I did naturally or commonly until I had NLP training.
A large part of NLP is just about recognizing what we do already, which is mostly unconscious, and bring it into consciousness. When we do that we have choice. Many limiting beliefs are unconscious. The NLP Meta Model uses language patterns to bring our attention to these unconscious beliefs. From there we can get to the root of it and transform it.
