the meta model was clearly set out in the first, or one of the first NLP books - The Structure of Magic. I've read most of the others but wish I had read this one first because, as you say, it is pretty much the foundation of everything. p.s. thanks for the videos.
You're welcome. Thank you for commenting. Unfortunately The Structure of Magic is not user friendly, which deters people from learning the Meta Model.
@@lendoggy2 I agree with you totally I wish I had read "The Structure of Magic" first also. I believe it would have benefitted my learning NLP and anybody else and was thinking the same thing while watching this video. I Iiken it learning to drive a car with a manual transmission. While it a bit more difficult at first it gives one more options and advantages over someone who just learns to drive an automatic gear box.
@@DamonCartIt is challenging for sure, but It is very rare that I hear bad things about it from those that managed to make their way through it. Good things come to those that are persistent...imo.
@@kevinfreeman9652 definitely!
Respect man, I spent the last year studying nlp, it does really help, got lot better mentally
Everything finally clicked for me todayâ¤ď¸
Thank you for all of your videos and Pdfs. I appreciate all of what you have offered me! I've been implementing all of what I've learned from your emails and videos and it's been helping me in all areas of my life.
Great to hear. Thank you for commenting.
Now I understand the Meta Model much better. I got it because in my teaching career you feel with it all the time. But now it much more clear. Thanks for your good work.
You're welcome.
great!! I use this everyday in my acupuncture/trauma healing practice.... Its really a great way to access someone's inner landscape!!! Many Thanks!!!
You're welcome.
Your info is clear, easy to follow & understand - and easy to apply! Many thanks!
Thank you
This was good - I am watching it for a 3rd time (as I usually do). Practice makes permanent! I was having a hard time, originally with accepting NLP into my coaching style, so I just started saying the things I've heard and read, and watched to people (even though conceptually, I was unsure). The more I was saying it, the more I understood (and remembered) what it all meant. Now, people are asking me to "tell me more"..... and I do :D Here. We. Go.
The NLP journey is an amazing journey. You're finding it.
This is all very new to me. I have shunned the idea of hypnosis, though when practiced in a subtle way, it may prove helpful. One focus has been to improve my communication skills, I can tend to generalize and be vague, which is not all bad or good. Often enough, people will say, "oh but you said this," and I will find myself back-pedaling, hmmmm. Slow motion sometimes. :D
Currently reading "the structure of magic" , "dipping my toe in the water" . I find the whole subject of nlp fascinating. . The things we stumble across when wanting to learn , Thanks for sharing .
You're welcome.
The Structure of Magic is a tough read. There are better books out there. If you struggle with it, don't blame yourself. Find an easier resource.
Thanks a bunch bro. this is what I've been looking for
Glad I could help
Really well explained Damon. Much appreciated.
Thank you. Appreciate you commenting.
Hi Damon. Thanks for sharing so unselfishly. G8 material always.
Thank you for the kind words.
Yes, I will be studying this in more depth. Thanlks!
You're welcome.
Great video. Your comments about the map really helped things land. Also, I believe Meta Model was originally developed by Virginia Satir, and then Bandler & Grinder studied it and incorporated it into NLP.
Thank you. No, the Meta Model is a language model created by John Grinder and Richard Bandler modeled from Virginia Satir and Fritz Perls when they were doing therapy. Satir was really surprised when Bandler and Grinder showed her the model because she could acknowledge that it was the structure that made her effective minus the content and for the first time this made it conscious for her. She even struggled with whether or not from that point forward that her therapy was now manipulation because she was now conscious of her strategies.
This helped quite a bit!! Thank you very much
You're welcome
So helpful. the way you presented this information really helped me tie some things together in my understanding. Also, I just noticed that I used a Kinesthetic reference as I wrote this. I've subscribed to your channel and email list.
Glad it was helpful and welcome aboard.
Yes I'm going to learn the meta model
thank you for your insightful insights. it is active knowledge that I can put to good use. I will definitely refer others to your classes. this educational information may be worth more than gold.
I wish you even more success than you have achieved
Thank you.
Super helpful video! Thanks!
You're welcome.
Thank you, thank you and again, thank you!!
You are so welcome!
Luv watching your videos đ¸
Glad you like them.
This is fantastic !! I have been fascinated by NLP for some time and recently went to hypnosis and now working w this person .... 3 weeks in Iâm blown away by the significance of what Iâm learning what it means to me and how I Dudley feel like Iâve been given the instruction manual for a game Iâm been playing without knowing the rules my whole life!! Even my dreams are pouring information out of me ... almost like showing me specific ways my meta model is changing as I develop. I am beyond excited! Obsessed compelled, drawn to what feels like a return to myself!! Does this make sense to you?
Indeed. I felt the same way when I started. Now, years later I still feel the same way.
Thanks for explaining this ..learning the meta model has been the most effective tool when dealing with manipulative ppl .. it brought me clarity I didn't know existed .. I will revisit this model in your nlp coarse
Indeed it is extremely effective in dealing with manipulative people.
Great stuff
Thank you
Great video!!!
Thank you!!
Ps love your Hicks, Rollins et al wall decorđđť
Loved itâ¤ď¸
Thank you
Yes I knew it was the first NLP model.
We need a class in this - PLEASE
On the Meta Model?
Hi Damon,
Great video as always!
You've explained the concept of the Meta Model in such an easy to understand way. What would help me even more is to hear/read some universals and metaphors to understand why someone should know this model and to get really motivated about learning this model.
Do you (or anyone else reading this) know some you could share with me?
It's great for problem solving. It's great for understanding how your internal monologue is keeping you stuck and getting unstuck. It's also great for communicating with and influencing people.
@@DamonCart Thank you, Damon!
Yes I like to help teenage children and destitutesđđ
Hi Damon! Wow, this video is really incredible - thank you! I recently took an NLP Prac training that was much too short (7 days and it included timeline therapy and hypnotherapy) and I do not feel thoroughly knowledgeable about anything I learned - yet! I've been watching quite a few of your videos and this one was one of my favorites. It helped me understand something that we brushed over so, so quickly. I find that of all the techniques this is the model that I would like to deepen my knowledge of the most. I am hungry for more depth in understanding and practice opportunities. I am wondering if you have any further recommendations. Perhaps a book? A lecture series? Not sure... an online practice group? Thank you!
John David Hoag has a website with a wonderful article about the Meta Model. He also used to have online (free) Meta Model flashcards, which I used to learn the Meta Model. Make the model a regular study. Read books on it. I read a few books but none stood out as great, but it all helps. And of course, practice. Practice is the greatest teacher.
@@DamonCart Thank you! I have been practicing with some practice clients but I wish there was a practice group. Do you know of any online practice groups or communities? Thank you for your wonderful videos and support!
@@zoefreedman6904 yes I have one free one on Facebook called Becoming Transformational. My other ones are attached to trainings for purchase.
What would you recommend as the most âuser friendlyâ book to learn the meta model? I am interested in learning from the start!
L. Michael Hall wrote a good book about the Meta Model and added some of his own patterns. I can't find the name of the book unfortunately. Start with mastering the original patterns before diving into the patterns he created. In addition to providing free, online Meta Model flashcards, John David Hoag provides amazing and thorough information on his website about the Meta Model. It's a great resource.
Read Structure of Magic 2. It explains so much more about how NLP works.
There are much better sources. That book is dreadful to get through.
Yes. đ
Appreciate your videos Damon, really helpful đđťđ
Thank you. Appreciate the comment.
Yes, meta model is first model
How many different models are there and what did each model map out?
That's impossible to know. People can make NLP models and never share them. There are hundreds if not thousands.
Great tip, how do I get good at using it ?
Practice one or two patterns everyday with every conversation you have or with a practice partner.
I fill that link but I not receive that Meta model PDF

Thank you
Didnât know that.
i tend to thin that deletion & generalization are both forms of distortion
They're all connected but they each have their own distinction and significance.
I am asking you for more examples. đ¤
More examples of what?

after 7 videos where youre talking about how imortant NLP is and how I should learn, I have yet to hear what NLP is. I wil give it few more videos try and probably move onto other resource on internet as I feel exhausted from it already.
I've made several videos explaining what NLP is. If you just search it on my channel you will find it.
Are you saying I should define what NLP is in every one of my videos? In other words just keep making the same video over and over?
@@DamonCart nevermind my comment... we all learn different ways, and my brain was just caught in trying to get definition before moving on, so I couldn't get anything you were saying - sorry.
Sub-modalities were also created before NLP had a name in "Therapeutic Metaphors"
No I didnât know that
No I didn't know
No I did not know that

@@DamonCart I know you are probably kidding, but honestly I love your work and the content you give us. I always wonder "What would it take to get a high profile case that takes a business like yours to the next level?'. Just for fun, front office (414) 227-0500
Memo: Distortion=Verzerrung, VerkrĂźmmung
I'm not sure that the German translation is accurate to what distortion means in NLP. Distortion is not a bad thing. We do it and we can't not do it. It can create problems but it is also useful and it enables us to create things that don't yet exist.
@@DamonCart oh thank you, I might have learned the wrong translation then, because "Verzerrung" is really kind of negative, you have a wrong image of the reality.
@@Viv8ldi that's what it seemed like when I put it through Google translate. Distortion, like generalization and deletion, is not bad. It's just a fact of how we process all of the information we receive constantly.
@@DamonCart omg thank you for extra looking it up for me, you are amazing.
