    several people have pointed out that the padres didnt exist in 1967, and that it must have been at least 69 when jerry saw his first double-header. it had to have been SPECIFICALLY 69, because sonny ruberto only played in 2 major league seasons. 69 with the padres and 72 with the reds. so if thats the autograph he got...case solved. was either august 16 or 17 of 1969. the only double-headers the padres played at shea that year.

    About 100 years ago a game took about an hour and half. The 26 inning game in 1920 between Brooklyn and Boston ended in a tie because of darkness after 3 hours and 50 minutes. The game can only be sped up if the tactics change.

    How is there still a mindset of not hitting the ball the other way when you're shifted on even today years after the shift has been a thing. The concept of not taking advantage of the shift is mind boggling. At the last game of the season of 2007 Tom Glavine focused on the outside part of the plate and the Florida marlins focused on hitting everything the other way. It's just common sense. Ty Jerry!

      @scotlandwoodwork2553 Před 5 lety

      The Padres have been around since the 30s in the PCL. 68 San Diego adopted the name when they were awarded a franchise. AFF team was PHI and they often played inter-league games with Major league teams.

      @@scotlandwoodwork2553 You are correct but Mr. Seinfeld said he was at a Mets Padres double header. Could not have happened in 1967. No big deal, he just either got the year or team wrong.
