- In this episode, we've got an afternoon arrival in Grand Turk, so we're hanging out around the ship... breakfast, morning show, and more shenanigans... then headed ashore for all the award-winning fish footage we can stand!! :D
We're setting sail on the Carnival Conquest out of Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida for an 8-Day Southern Caribbean itinerary with stops in Princess Cays, Grand Turk, Aruba, and Curaçao! We sailed from March 2-10, 2019 on this adventure.

I LOVE Grand Turk!!! I can't wait to get back there! I couldn't believe how easy that cannon and anchor were to spot - they were really close to the beach/dock area. Nice job with all the wonderful fish footage, Dee: the cool Morray Eel, that angry lobster, and the man with cereal who was attracting all the other fishies. Interesting observational fact about the ConQuest, Jay...that's why someone put it like that in the livestream chat...it all makes perfect sense to me now! I had better hurry up and get caught up on my PDJ video viewing before going back to get through my long long footage editing process...thanks so much for sharing!! ❤️
Grand Turk is always super awesome, even if you just make it a Margaritaville pool day, ha ha... but the free beach and snorkeling? Heck yeah!! Woohoo... happy editing... :P
Im going on the Conquest soon. I dont know why I love you guys so much. Such a nice and cute couple. So pleasant and seem good natured. Your husband is funny and so are you. Dee looks lovely in her mask and snorkel and with her flippers on as well, was that a one off.Dee looks like a mermaid
Hah, she usually doesn't pack the flippers because they take up a ton of room in the suitcase and she's already a good enough swimmer to propel herself around without them. But they do give her that slight mermaid edge!! :P

Grand Turk is a fantastic place to try it out... lots of places where the water isn't too deep, and usually pretty calm. Hope you have an amazing time!! :D

We really had a great time on the Conquest! Of course, the nice Southern Caribbean itinerary helped, but we already could tell we enjoyed the ship before we even got to Aruba and Curacao, ha ha... :P

Thanks so much! Yes, we had discussed the seaweed in our Horizon vlogs from November, and were glad to see that it was almost all gone even then. We saw some vlogs of folks who were there in prime seaweed time... yikes!!

These are the best trip videos I have found on CZcams. You both make me feel as if I'm right there with you. The footage is beautiful. I am taking my first cruise in August to Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel. I haven't booked any excursions but it seems like you can just enjoy the beach for no additional cost. Do you guys ever do excursions or just beach days? Do they offer snorkeling lessons? Lastly what do you recommend for those ports?
Thanks so much! Let's see... western loop... which Jamaica port, probably Ocho Rios? If so, we did that exact loop of ports most recently on our Horizon 2018 6-day series. There aren't really any super easy walk-able beaches in Grand Cayman or Cozumel. You technically can walk to the southern end of Seven Mile Beach from the port in Grand Cayman, but it's about a mile each way and probably easier to catch a cab, or hook up an excursion through the ship. Cozumel doesn't have any good walk-able beaches either, but it has a lot of great beach clubs that offer all-inclusive packages... we've done Mr Sancho's and Nachi Cocom and did a comparison video of the two. Those are $55/pp plus the cab ride there and back, but it includes food, drinks, pool, ocean, everything, ha ha... we love a good beach day!! :D

For Grand Turk, we didn't even need an excursion. We always do the free beach. Anything else, we usually always pick up ahead of time, whether it's through the ship or independently. We haven't really ever waited until arrival to book anything, even though you can sometimes find good deals with vendors at the ports. But I like to research companies before booking, hah...
Jay what drone do you have? It takes great quality video.
DJI Mavic Pro which I love because of its compact size. But there’s a newer DJI that’s even better now and smaller. Dang!!

Oops, we actually ended up giving the extra trophy to a couple we met at dinner on the ship, hah... they hadn't been able to snag one, so we shared! Hope you have as much fun on the Conquest as we did!! :P
Question when its just you two at the beach how do you keep your backpack safe? Do you just leave it on the chairs? What about cash etc?
Cash and ship cards come into the water in a waterproof pouch, and we have some travel combo locks we can use to secure our bag straps together, zippers, etc. and secure the whole thing to a chair. I know a lot of people use a SafeGo or a KYSS Bag, but we haven't gotten quite that fancy yet, ha ha...

Oh nice, same ports? Aruba, Curacao, Grand Turk, Princess Cays? In Aruba, we've done the Kukoo Kunuku open air bus through the ship (in our Breeze vlogs) and the Jolly Pirates booked independently on the Conquest trip. For Curacao, we went to Cabana Beach through the ship (also in our Breeze vlogs) and the beach hopping with Irie Tours on this trip, booked independently. Grand Turk we always make a free beach or pool day, and Princess Cays is a free beach day, so nothing fancy there. Just some free fun, ha ha... Hope you have an awesome cruise!! :D
love the fins. Are the difficult to get on? Where did you find them?
They're part of the same snorkel set that we got on eBay many moons ago, that matches the snorkel she always takes. It's an Aqua Lung brand, which seemed to be a decent brand name. I think fins in general are a little tricky to put on, hah... it's either put them on while on land and walk backwards to the water... or struggle to prop yourself up in the waves... she went for option B... :P
Where did you see a law about no drones unless you are over a mile or two from port? I have flown my drone from the beach at grand turk with no problems. I would have been super sad if they confiscated my drone. Granted it is the DJI Spark, so it is super small. I checked the drones laws in all the countries I visit and know not to fly it from the cruise boat or by airports but why not from the beach?
Yeah, the Grand Turk one has been up for debate in the forums we frequent. There seems to be no legal guideline put in place by the island as far as I know tell, but some folks claim to have seen signs at the port declaring it a no-fly zone. We haven't personally seen any signs, but were just playing it safe. And that might mean literally just ON the pier, like inside the secure zone, ha ha... maybe the entire beach is actually fair and legal!!
No, there isn’t anything in the water that chases you at Grand Turk. Because they’re all ambush predators.

No, there is a buoy line that you’re required to stay within.
How did you fix the camera from being upside-down? ?My camera is like that. .
Ours was only temporary thankfully, and I think she had just accidentally started the recording with the camera upside down. All we had to do was stop it, hold it upright, and start it again. Is yours permanently upside down?! Yow!!
