We walked down to Jack's shack when we were there. You get a free shot of Rum if you sign up on the website for it. The beach was basically empty down there and we did notice it was a lot clearer and the sand was like powder. I highly recommend that you guys walk down there. I think it was like $15 for them to set up 2 chairs and an umbrella for you. MAKE SURE YOU WEAR SUNSCREEN and reapply! I wore sunscreen and forgot to reapply and got scorched! The sun here is very extremem compared to the US. They also had horseback rides along the beach. The walk to Jack's shack was an easy walk along the beach, even with my knee issues and worth the walk to get away from the crowd near the ship. Next time we hope to explore the right side of the island first, as we never made it there. Lot's of freebies and raffles in the shops there. Beautiful Tanzanite jewelry if you are looking for that. Get your ship's shopping guide to help you with bargains. This is my favorite port thus far besides Carnival's private island of Half Moon Cay. I love your videos by the way! You give a lot more info then other reviewers as to what is free and walkable, which is what we look for in a cruise. Thank you.
We did finally make it down to the Jack’s Shack area on a more recent visit. We didn’t get to check out the food, but it was a beautiful area!! :D

My first time to this port was last October. I loved it. Went to Bermuda too on this sailing on the Conquest.
It's always one of our favorite free days! We won't make it to Bermuda until next fall, but we're excited for that one too!! :D

Hello Dee and Jay. This going to be a great series. I lot of people want to know what's available when they get to a port they've never been to before. If they're not buying an excursion it could save a lot of time and the port will be more enjoyable.

Cool new series. Great info. November will be my 4th time in Grand Turk. We usually just walk around the shops there. My friend Sandie and I were on the Destiny in 2010 and we did what was called the Dune Buggy Adventure. Probably what us now the ATV Adventure. Other than having to wear heavy helmets, it was an absolute blast. We saw pretty much the entire island and stopped in several places. We might have to try the beach this time.
Ah, nice! We still haven't ever ventured out of the port area because that beach is always calling our name, ha ha... :P
Great video (as always) for GT. We will be exploring GT by golf cart when we get off the Pride this September....already mapping out a little itinerary and with a definite visit to Jack's Shack on the return.........keep up the great work.....:)

That was the main reason behind starting this series, hah... I thought it would be fun to explore how to have the cheapest possible day in each port, because we used to try to cruise with zero excursions when we first started... woohoo!! :D
I can't believe I stumbled on to you guys! I could never catch what Tony was calling you. I all so am very impressed with all the ships on a stick you have! My not going to cuba cruise is coming up and they are sub'ing Grank Turk. OK it's not Havana, but as I learn more about it I am getting excited to see the two grand turks...the port complex and the real deal, oh and the donkeys.

Dang I wish I saw this video about 3 weeks ago! We just got back from Grand Turk and I did snorkel a little on the beach, but I don't think it was in the right spot because I was more near the pier where you get off the ship! Only saw about one fish hahah! Now I know for next time, thanks!!

My family have been there the last 2 years.We stay in a house,in a neighborhood only a short ride from the port and airport. The local people are soooooo nice ,the beach is 40 meters away,every part of the island is so much fun.If you dont want to just spend a day off the ship,Grand Turk is the best place to go and RELAX on your vacation.

Woohoo! That’s actually funny, because we were thinking to do San Juan next week but then we had multiple requests for Amber Cove, so I think we are going to do Amber Cove next Wednesday, and San Juan the Wednesday after. Then in the following weeks, we may give some western ports some love!! :P

I have seen an octopus at grand turk....he was following me around and I was able to take a cool picture of him.
That's awesome! We'd heard rumors of an octopus one time while we were out there, but never could spot him.
Jack's Shack is the best,! You'll have to pay a little for a chair and umbrella but way less crowded. Food and drinks are great. This is where you'll find the ships crew on their day off. We had a great time with them there. Had a Hugh
stingray swim right by me there. And the Topher and calypso are fun to watch. So if you want a peaceful day at the beach ,it's worth the walk.
I'm sure we'll make it down there eventually, ha ha... sounds like a good time!! :D

We are going on The Magic in Jan 2022. Grand Turk, Amber Cove, & Half Moon Cay. Going to do the whale watching adventure seasonal. They say January is a good time to see the whales. Will let you know after our cruise.

Great video. We go to Grand Turk for the first time this December. It looks really nice. I don't get in the water because I don't like all of the fish that come up to you! LOL! I was freaking out on that one video where they were all around you! Can you do Amber Cove? We will go there in December also.

Great Vlog. I have gone back through your vlogs before looking for ports that yall have gone to. so i love the fact that your going to start covering them as a Vlog of their own. I have been looking for info on Montego Bay. its ging to be our first port after two sea days and would like to get off the ship and look around. but not sure where to go at this port. Im not leaving on the cruise till April 2020. So if you can fit a Montego Bay Vlog in tht would rock.
Ahhh, we haven't made it to Montego Bay yet, but we've wanted to. We were actually looking to check out the resort that EECC Travels went to, I think it was Sunscape? But we don't have it on any of our future itineraries at this point. Daaang!! Ha ha...

Our #1, most, most amazing excursion ever was in Grand Turk! We did it with a local company and got to snorkel, conch dive, and see stingrays at Gibbs Cay. It is truly one of our best moments in our life! The company took us by boat to different snorkeling spots that progressively got deeper. Then we snorkeled the "Amazing Wall". You can google it and see what it is! It drops 7,000 feet and is truly so amazing! Let me know if you want any information. Dee, I LOVE snorkeling like you do, and this one was so exciting! We went back to Grand Turk this past December 2021 and were the first ship back after Covid! But we had a shorter day (only 5 hours) and they weren't booking local excursions yet, so we just did a free beach day there this time. But I can't wait to go back and do the snorkeling tour again. I have the most amazing photos from that day!

This is going to be a GREAT series!! I get so much use out of videos like this, and love you two, so it's doubly awesome for me! We loved Grand Turk, and want to go back to explore more of what's there. We only did beach time at Jack's Shack. Please do a video on southern Caribbean ports (just for me), since we're headed there in March. Tortola, Barbados, St. Lucia, Punta Cana (no one has much info on that one!), and Antigua. Thanks for all you do for us!
Woohoo, thankee! We haven't hit many of the southern just yet ourselves, ha ha... of the four you listed, we've only been to Barbados. We have Tortola and St. Lucia on future cruises, and we don't even have Punta Cana on the radar yet. I only know that name from the trouble they've been having at some of the resorts lately. True, there's not a lot of coverage on a lot of the southern islands, hah... we'll try to do what we can to help!! :P

As far as Punta Cana, it seems it's a new port for RC, so even RC expert Matt from Royal Caribbean Blog couldn't help me. We'll find SOMETHING to do there! :) If I was a vlogger, I'd go ahead and make a video while there, but no. I'm not. Ha!
The beach on the right side of the pier has more rocks but has better snorkeling and not as crowded.
