Mickey always wears a suit to work, clean white socks, and his best tie. Mickey is an ideal employee.
He's a tuxedo cat
Ha, ha! Absolutely right. He shows respect.😂😂
Not only that, he does so 24/7/365, all while looking impeccable!
He's purrfect.
He sure is!!!
People who make complaints like this have to be the most miserable people living. I’d hate to have to live with someone like that
LOL come to Canada it's full of miserable people. Try living here. 1/10 of our deaths are govt funded suicide.
They probably prevented another pandemic like that one from wuhan market
Mickey is a little gentleman who serves as an ambassador for the store, controls the rodent population, and brightens everyone's day. I hope justice prevails in his favor!
1 grumpy unhappy person complains and the cat has to go? Why are we empowering the lowest mentalities in our society to make the rules for us? Ridiculous! Especially when a majority love the Mickey being there.
Agree. Stand up to these entitled morons!
Yeah,100%agree, mickey should be allowed to stay, no matter what!
mate its actually not good for health and safety. I work in health and safety and have been a process engineer in the food and beverage industry for years, anyone with a basic knowledge of biology will understand it is just not acceptable to have an animal next to fresh food due to contamination.
@@LokeshThakur I totally agree

You are absolutely right!
You’ve certainly got that right!!!👏🏽🐾💯
Of course he is. He wears a frickin tuxedo.
Cleaner than the complainer, that's for sure !
Cats are disgustingly filthy. Ever playfight with a cat and have those scratches swell up and get red more quickly than other scratches? 'cause cats are filthy.
Whoever complained about the cat should find himself another shop
I bet it was some overweight, magenta hair colour, extreme leftist Karen.
you realize some people have allergies ? also cat's hair if it's ingested can cause respiratory issues
it's not sanitary but if this guy has mice problem maybe he should look in the back and the root cause of its rodent i wouldn't want to buy from a store that's infested with rodant s
@@christophercolumbus8944 If this is how you see our life, to be safe at all cost, then maybe you should stay in the basement? Do you realize that people die in car accidents, maybe we should ban cars to be safe?
Absolutely agree!😿

Whaa whaa they have allergies- they can fuck off and go somewhere else.
Mickey is a beautiful tux. He’s probably more well behaved than most people, especially the complainer. He’s an asset, keeping varmints out of the store, which is the real health hazard.
Keeping rodents out of the store is why the cat must go. You cant ticket/fine the owner for rodents if the cat stays. Lets be perfectly clear what the real reason here is… that cat prevents fines. Less fines means less revenue for the government.
@@cme98 it doesnt make any sense buddy
@@alainportant6412nothing makes sense...that's part of "their" plan
@@alainportant6412 think about why cops hide to give you traffic tickets instead of showing themselves and making people slow down by seeing them. its not about keeping the roads safe, its about catching and fining you. same logic applies elsewhere.
That's an emotional support cat for hundreds of people. With the right words in the right venue I guarantee that cat would be able to stay
That idea just might work.
I met Mickey 2 weeks ago and Mickey is cleaned & well behaved.
The person who complained should shop elsewhere or find more meaningful things to complain about. 🙄
I’ve never met him but he soooo adorable. I hope someone adopts him if he has to go. Stupid Karen
Did you get his autograph?
@@anielchall9708 no autograph, but i got photos of Mickek sitting in front of the store. 😁😉
Or should be culled.
@@Bunny11344 Belongs to the owner I think.
There is always 1 person who has to make everyone else miserable like they must be.
This reminds me of the story about the cat at a library that got reinstated to its job after backlash over the entire internet. The city councilman that wanted the cat gone then got voted out of office.
@@Kresh42 They did not worship cats for nothing in Ancient Egipt. :)
They’re the NPCs destined for hell where they want to go because they love suffering
The person who complained is actually one of top 1% who leads USA and rest of the world. 99% of others mostly hypocrites are the ones who actually destroy the world. If cats are really that clean then they should be allowed in hospitals too? If you can't figure out why animals are not allowed by regulators, board members and company directors then i guess you just have to be in the bottom 99%
Maybe it was Mickey Mouse😉
What a sweetie. I would shop in that shop just to see the cat!
He's cleaner than a lot of the employees and customers, he's free pest control, and he's a mascot that's not creepy. Plus you pay him in treats and belly rubs! There's no downside to him!
i think they should put a sign in the window and say there is a cat in the store, If you do not like cats, go to another store.
As simple as that.
I can imagine all the sensitive minded Vancouverites complaining about that as well, they always find something to complain about.
@Confined Spiral if you can't see a difference between a rat and a cat then there is really no point to discuss anything with you...
But a sign saying "No Karens allowed" would definitely solve a lot of problems.
@Confined Spiral yeah, I'm sure they are...
@Confined Spiral that's fine, I'll definitely google it as I'm a great fan of rats
bro there are people who walked through that supermarkets door, didn’t wash their hands after taking a piss & shit, and yet they were holding fruits & vegetables. mickey is one of the cleanest animals in that dang place.
Yeah. People don't think about that. Might have been picking their nose beforehand also.
@@ActiveAussie2024
Yuck!
True. Some put on coat over sleepwear, housewear, and cover head with hat especially during cold season..
You have a way with words, you silver-tongued devil. 😂
Most people don't wash their hands properly, period. Nuff said.
Stores that have a resident cat do better financially due to more satisfied customers. Just look at the faces of those people. The cat wears a clean suit to work every day, bathes several times a day, keeps the premises rodent free, and gives comfort to all who enter. Employee of the year!
Some people are simply miserable and take their misery to spread everywhere they go.
I had a cat that looked just like Mickey. He was sweet and loving.
The customers- with the exception of one, love the cat.
Mrs. Misery can go somewhere else for her food.
Mickey shouldn't have his world disrupted over one bad complaint. He's a good little cookie.
Exactly
An Oreo cookie, that is. 😊
My dad was a meat-cutter in a small grocery store in the early 60's. He came in and opened the store one morning went to the back room and found the old tom cat that patrolled the store looking kind of rough, but found four or five dead rats on the floor. Old Tom was a hero after that incident.
Yes, the cat will catch any mice that roam the shop at night. I guess the complainer would rather have mice hair and turds in the food than maybe a cat hair or two ? Complaining was ridiculous and stupid.
@@djg5950, Exactly, sure they could put out poison for the mice but the poison could get into the food too. Mice will go after every type of food, cats will just go after the rats and mice, they are not apt to go tiptoeing through the lettuce. 😂
I vote for kitty in this situation. I'd pet him for sure!
@@djg5950 Most grocery stores have a contracted exterminator that comes by regularly to set and check traps. Having live animals roaming the store can lead to issues.
We all would’ve died from the plague if cats didn’t serve us.
Cats are so beneficial for people's mental health, I'm sure the shop owner was careful about health and hygiene.
I hope things work out so that he can stay. 😢
As a Vancouverite, I dont see why the bylaws allow customers to take their dogs into literally any business, but when one dumbass customer complains, then good old City of Vancouver doesnt want to offend 1person, or hurt their feelings or... then they make the masses suffer. If that 1 person doesn't like the cat, shop the hell elsewhere. It's pure hypocrycy to allow animals into a store, but not to allow this business their cat.
Apparently the Canadian government would rather have rats and mice running around a store than one cat
so true
The government are the rats.
Well canada is basically a communist country now so this doesn't surprise me in the slightest
It's provincial not federal.
The Canadian government has always had rodents running around. Nothing new.
Save Mickey. Ban the complainer.
The most beautiful little tuxedo cat! ❤❤❤❤
I think that customer should be ordered to find a new home. The cat is friendly, cleaner than most humans and is also keeping pests out. Some people just need to grow up, dont like it, shop somewhere else.
Ban all humans. Kitty gets to stay.
I like the way you think😆
Mickey’s just doing his job. He keeps the mice away and keeps his customers happy. I hope they can work out the issues and bring him back in the store. :(
Rodents infestation very serious. He help out all.
Mickey deserves better
They cant ticket the owner for rodents with a cat around. Lets be perfectly clear why they want the cat to go.
@@cme98 let's not look for conspiracy theories. I'm sure that the place has had random health inspections during the years that Mickey has been in residence. The agency involved in this is responding to a (stupid) complaint.
The cat should definitely be allowed to stay. He attracts customers, improves the productivity of employees by relieving their stress on the job, and keeps rodents at bay. He has an important list of job responsibilities that makes him an employee.
The building that I was living before was pet unfriendly so I move out after adopting my cat. Later I heard that the building has become cat friendly because they had a recent mice problem. I think that is a good strategy for pest control in the stores too.
Mickey is not a mascot, Mickey is the proprietor of the shop, Mickey is the Boss !
Indeed, transfer ownership to the cat!
He wears many hats all while wearing a tuxedo!
mickey was once human before he turned into a cat.
That's the owner and operator
@@nesswhopees

I’ve seen mice scurry across a grocery aisle. I never return to those stores. I would rather see a cat patrolling through a store or keeping an eye out while perched on a box!
Best comment.👏👏👏
Mice are allowed, but cats aren’t apparently! How sanitary is that?!
Cats are one of the cleanest animals around. Cleaner than many humans.
What a beautiful Host.
I hope he gets to stay, and continue making people happy and welcome 😺
There are some extreme cat haters out there, but cats are really great for controlling pests. It's a clean, sweet cat that is causing no harm to anyone.

My mother had rats last year and when I moved back to take care of her, I brought my cat...hence she has no rat problem. Rats pose a worse health risk than a cat. If necessary license the cat. Traditional pest control with chemicals is a bigger danger to wildlife that might eat the rat who ate poison. Get with it.
thats exactly why pest control without the need for a cat exists.
@@LokeshThakur You missed this line: " Traditional pest control with chemicals is a bigger *danger to wildlife* that might eat the rat who ate poison"
I dealt with a rat infestation in Maple Ridge after a clear cut. Luckily we had a wolf dog who loved to kill them. We got rid of hundreds. Every store in the lower Mainland should have a cat. ✌🇨🇦

If you walk through the open markets and shops in Istanbul, Turkey, you see stray cats everywhere being loved on and well-fed. You see some lying among the products and acting like owners XD
That sounds like heaven to me, I’ve heard great things about how kind Turkey is to strays.
Loved and well fed? Maybe.
Neutered or spayed? No.
Feral colony? Yes.
Third world? How did you guess?
@@malcontender6319 Lol, you talk as if developed countries don't ever have feral colonies. I actually read a headline a while back, saying that there were 60 million feral cats in the US. At least Turkey feeds their strays even if they're lacking the funds to conduct a nationwide spay/neuter program.
My thoughts, exactly! I visited Istanbul years back and loved how well cats were treated. Friendly, no problems caused, and no rodents to be found.
First world bs 🙄
Literally the actual consequences of the industrial revolution and the softening of humanity. If third world places can accept cats in markets why can't some snobby loser in Vancouver do so? Literally they have it better than most people in the ghetto US and even Mexico, and they complain about one animal?
I love how that cat doesn't have a clue what's going on with city politics, or seems to care for that matter. He just wants to catch mice and have pets.

Food stores have rats and mice, at least from that perspective it is obvious that a cat is a benefit. I used to have a cat and dog in my kayaking and diving store; the smiles that it put on peoples faces was wonderful, it opened people up and made their day ( and mine).

"The operator must not permit live animals to be on the premises."
That's exactly why Micky is there. Would they rather have a few hundreds mice and rats than one, clean, well behaved, well liked cat?
It's not an either or situation. The grocery store probably still has a regular exterminator that comes by to ensure that there aren't any vermin. Whether or not a cat should be permitted to live in a grocery store, the fact of the matter is you'd still need to have an exterminator to handle all the various pests that cats don't deal with.
@@SmallSpoonBrigade
I never said it was an either/or situation.
You're failing to understand that the answer is in your own question.
The cat supplements professional remediation, not replaces it.
If professional exterminators was all that was needed, there would not be a vermin problem at all.
Try to think a bit. ;)

Top 10 Produce has been around for ages and is an institution in the neighborhood, and in my opinion the best produce store in Vancouver hands down. Having met Mickey myself and having been a longtime loyal customer growing up in West Point Grey, I can say that there is absolutely no reason why this sweet kitty should not be allowed in the store, especially when his being there is actually contributing to the cleanliness of the store by being a rodent deterrent. Cannot believe that some lowlife busybody had the nerve to report this to the authorities.
