- Sculpting is thought of as an expensive art form, but it really doesn’t have to be! In this lesson we cover the basic materials you’ll need for this course along with some cost saving measures you can take so you can sculpt for $10 or less. There’s also going to be a fun challenge with some prizes you can win when you submit your first sculpture on Proko. Cutoff date for the challenge is June 30th and you can submit your entry in the assignments tab here - proko.com/523

Hey everyone! I’ll be judging the Proko challenge on June 30th. You can submit your assignments to be judged here - proko.com/523
Where can we see the results of the judging? I somehow missed that.
Just gonna watch, hoping this will spark a new drive for sculpture
Sculpting looks really cool. I always wanted to dive into another medium other than digital drawing or pencil/pen. I've done painting time to time, but it never really struck to me. When I remembered sculpting, I felt excited. I'm personally a huge fan of anatomy studies and basically anything body related. I'm going to try sculpting out
Sounds like me. Painting is cool but it doesn't grab me for some reason. Sculpting totally just gets it
Glad to hear it! Sculpting is where it's at!
I love the paperclip. You get this with painting too: first time painters spending excessive amounts on things like 'professional' wooden palettes and artist smocks from the victorian era.
Glad this was made and I love his work that he posts on Instagram.
2:00 He has a point.
We need more of Andrew!
Why thank you! With this course you’ll get more! 😆
This video is so great. Super entertaining and informative. I am definitely inspired to learn how to make sculptures! I love the Proko challenge. You have a new fan for sure!
omg you are just like proko but with a black background
?
Amazing video bro
I really like your attitude
I hope you keep teaching us 🙏🏽
Thanks!
I thought this was gonna be digital and I was confused because Blender is free.
Zoomers....
Not a flex
Cool. I'm interested. Clay seems to be surprisingly difficult to find where I live but there is this foamy, play-doh-like stuff. That could be interesting.
Yeah whatever is available! I’ve even seen videos on making your own water clay from the earth.
@@AndrewJosephKeith that's literally what I do and how I got into sculpturing and when I finally bought the actual clay I didn't enjoy it as much so I stopped for a long while and now that I'm using what I gather when I go to the country side I feel much lighter and I enjoy the process more but I think I should give regular clay another chance xD
This looks cool, I might get into it using cheaper materials as you've suggested. I have a question for Proko 3D, will there be a digital sculpting course anytime soon?
P.S the instructor seems like a chill and fun guy, cheers
Hey there was just a 3D digital video by another artist. I’ll probably be focusing mostly on traditional sculpting methods for now though.
I got that plastalina from the beginning of the video/thumbnail from the Dollar TREE... it's 7 oz (200g) for $1!!! well worth it for junk practice clay
Yeah that’s exactly where I got the clay! Works great and I actually like it better than some more expensive types of clay I’ve tried.
Yeah I love that clay! works great! I like to take out the dark blue, dark green, dark purple, and black and melt everything else together to make brown for sculpting.
Thanks my sir
Love from Philippines
Just Subbed, I love Proko, and My Arts become Great cause y'all, I'd like to learn Sculpting and I'd love to Make unique Garden Gnomes. Could yall make a Tutorial on Clay Gnomes???

Awww shucks
2:46 people without hands: *Sanctuary Guardian starts playing*
Can I use a Popsicle stick for a tool and carve the end to the shape I want? ;-)
Yes absolutely!
I'll come back to this video once I buy some clay 😅
Hope you do! And the other videos too!
2:13
That's why i will make only 2 of those and try to make the 2nd one worst, so the 1st will be my best.

@@charnich thanks much!
I want to take part but I have never tried my hands on any sculpture work and am from poor background and I can't afford any tool
Don't use tools! Just your hands. You can even make natural clay from dirt. There's no excuse not to get started.
chido (cool in Spanish) 👍UwU.)
Instead of a wooden board can I sculpt a platform out of clay?
Yeah people do that all the time.
you are bold. you're meant to encourage people to not quit after one sculpture.
7:11 Damn...
Thanks for the video. I just want a "taste" of this hobbie. 🤔
Where can I get reference photo
in the course there is a place where you can download 10 poses for free. proko.com/sculpture
2:55 I’m a tool :(
Thank you peter Parker 😉
I was interested in sculpture but once I found out much it costs to have sculptures cast in bronze I didn't see the point in going to anymore glasses. Good luck being a sculptor if you're not born rich.
There are a lot of materials other than bronze. I actually use natural clay and kiln fire it.
@@CharlesTryon Do you sculpt portraits , statues, abstract art or pottery?
@@beanstaIkjack - all of the above! Well, not so much strict portraits, and my abstract work is pretty limited, but I do a lot of figurative work, and a little functional pottery. See tryonsculpturearts.com .
@@CharlesTryon Thank you, nice work!
