Finally a sedan with all wheel drive and turbo 6, so tired of trucks and SUV's, great review
Joe, the TLX Type-S ($57,000) optioned with the copper wheels/summer tire package ($3412) and Urban Gray Pearl Paint ($600), the price on Acura website is $61,012. Everything else on the car you reviewed is standard with the Type-S trim. I think you said $71k in error, when it should be $61k.
to get to $71k you'd have to add a LOT of unnecessary carbon fiber accessories (dealer-installed and extremely over-priced)
wish the accord looked more like this
This is the civic's twin
integra
I rather have IS500 because it is a V8 because how many V8 engine left nowadays in Lexus or any other cars đđđ
As much as I want a V8 and the way gas prices are here in California (highest in the country) we might as well go back to riding on literal horses then the fake HP that cars have, just water and hay is all you need lmao
â@@415alkeez agreed, electric or hybrid is the way to go
One undeniable thing about the 21+ tlx: itâs a beautiful looking car despite being slower than its rivals
the TLX beat the M340i xDrive's lap time at MotorTrend's Figure-8.
@@TheBreakfastLoverthat is true but day to day stop light racing, every other performance car will outpace it. I didnât buy mine for that though. I love mine just as it is. Quick enough for me
@@ZayFlxx the TLX also beat the C43 AMG's lap time at MotorTrend.
@@TheBreakfastLoverOn the street where 100 percent of owner drive them, this much slower than the M340.
Itâs also canât be tuned and only redlines at 6k. Thatâs weak for a performance car. 5900k is where it shits in sport at max redline. Not even 6k.
I know Acura did it to protect their weak 10 speed. BMW ZF8 is super strong and reliable.
The M340 can be tuned. Plus itâs rear drive bias, plus itâs a 50/50 balanced car. Acura is nose heavy.
M340 can make 500hp easy. TLX S, you can barely get close to 400 because the heads ports and turbo are too small.
@@ryanb8736 the TLX Type S tied the M440i coupe's lap time at MotorTrend. The BMW had xDrive, weighed less and more horsepower, but the Acura has SH-AWD to overcome all that.
The Lexus has the beautiful bulletproof NA V8 while the Acura has the better interior and a FINE exterior. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. The IS500 will save a lot of money because it wonât depreciate nearly as much as the TLX. The V8 is also phenomenal
good point. on the other hand the TLX has SH-AWD which makes it a beast in the winter. For someone that needs a daily driver and lives above the snowbelt, the IS500 is not ideal.
Unfortunately, I live in CA where gas prices are out the ass. I can only imagine the TLX Type S gets way better MPG's then the 5.0 V8 Lexus would. Obviously if MPG was one of the top considerations a person wouldn't buy either of these vehicles, but I digress.....
@@Saisei87IS500 20 MPG combined, TLX Type S 21 MOG combined. So, an insignificant bump
â @@Saisei87nope Acura V6 TT is a gas hog thatâs pretty much as bad as the Lexus V8. As TLX weighs as much as a 5 series. Lexus drivetrain has been tested to over 300,000 miles in the ISF, jury is still out on the V6 TT. TLX-S depreciation has also been horrible. Only reason to get the Acura is you can usually get it for $10,000+ less than IS 500 after discount, SHAWD, and the modern interior.
@@ratshackmojo ahh...well thats a damn shame. But hey, I think Honda finally learned that having a non touch screen with a track pad was like having one of those palm pilot phones when they first came out đ€Łđ€Ł
Joe its a sweet ride, wish it was cheaper in cost. Great review as usual. Fan of yours for years!
Amazing review Joe.
Honestly one of the best looking cars on the road in my opinion
looks like a tacky old pontiac to me. Wild how different people see things eh?
@@AnnoyinglyCharming yeah? How so? The last thing I would of thought based on design language was "GM product." I always try to look at cars without the badges so that's interesting.
@@bryy2053 it's mostly like the body flares the shape of the curves. I imagine if they kept the GTP going it would look exactly like this
â@@AnnoyinglyCharming ok. I mean, most 4 dr sedans of this size share this silhouette. I went and looked at the gtp and was reminded about how much I loved this car growing up. There are some modernized builds that really look amazing. The 97-03 generation was my favorite. I didn't like the 04 redesign very much
@@bryy2053 yeah it could be. Because I don't get the Pontiac Vibe from the Integra. When I see an Integra or MDX I don't get any of those vibes I just think pure Acura
Rear is the best part of this ride. Super sporty looking with that spoiler and those exhaust tips.
This is so very true
Like a old time prospector sprinkled some gold on the car đđ
I'm feeling this over everything else so far for Raiti!
$71,000? Does it include some smoking materials honda is smoking?
Exactly. Wouldn't consider this unless around $55,000
It's $56,700
@@TheBreakfastLover not this exact trim.
I was thinking around 60k, this is too much... for reference my 2020 c43 was ~65k with all essential packages(sport exhaust and moon roof)
Color is smokin!!
And Joe just a quick FYI on overhangs and proportions - RWD cars tend to have 'shorter' (not longer as you mentioned in the video) front overhangs - in part due to the engine usually being longitudinally mounted with the driveshaft headed rearward. Why the long dash-to-axle ratio is also part of the distinct, and generally more premium, look of a RWD car. RWD cars tend to also have longer rear overhangs. FWD cars usually are the opposite, long front and short rear overhangs - or just both overhangs are long. General proportions, with some exceptions to the rule. The more you know. Great video as always!
Nice color and those rims đđđ
It really pops nicely in the Sun!
Alright Joe I kind at like the TLX Type S
I like the Super Handling feature of the Accura. I think I'd choose the TLX over the IS 500.
Love this color combo with copper wheels to accent the paint
Joe and Lori and Steve keep up the good work real true and I love the video đ
To the door panels!!! You inspired me to buy a 2025 camry Over Accord or Sonata...love your content đâ€

Good afternoon Raiti! Nice car đ
Same to you my friend! Iâm glad that you think so!

The price doesn't matter, you can not find one. The 71K is incorrect. That's okay, Joe, we love you.đđđ
Acura Interior is quality materials all over with tons of Aluminium trim and real Leather seating but the cohesion is better in plastic Lexus interior. The car is also higher weight than IS 500. Also the MSRP is higher, IS 500 MSRP with all packages is 68K, with tax its same as this. But as I mentioned the IS 500 has bumper sagging problem, Lexus won't fix it as they will discontinue the car and the Lexus V8 is 2025 being last. Lexus also has lower top speed too, the ELS 3D in this is absolutely phenomenal vs Mark Levinson system. I personally own an IS 500.
Thanks for laying down all of the details
So glad Acura has found its groove once again. Beautiful spec! These have a ton of road presence, especially in Type S form. It has its own unique space in the market as well, in how it balances size/price/performance - not to mention reliability and ease-of-use. It's not an M5, not even close. But it doesn't need to be. Instead, it's a very desirable Acura, and that's no bad thing.
And, as for the IS500 - another different thing entirely, and another unique recipe with its V8 and decades-old platform. To me, the IS500 is more special, and what I'd pick - but only because I like the nerdy enthusiast stuff. But the Acura is almost certainly better by just about ever metric, not to mention what feels like a class above in terms of size and refinement.
Dynamically it's a better car. My issue is the TLX has an undertuned engine and nerfed transmission tuning. I'm getting an IS500 over this because of its V8 and its proven track record
I like the face of the Acura, I will say I'm a Honda guy.
Is500 all day long đ€·ââïžđđŻ
my favorite modern car design. Not that fan of wheel color. The seat being black & red is cool but wasn't expecting that
Love this car, I can see me driving one of these.
SD County Sheriffs are sneaky around there Joe đ€Ł Shoulda pano sunroof for that price, but love the color combo. Thanks Joe đ€đŒ
I agree with the zonk on the front bumper plastic inlets....everything needs to be functional like a type r civic.
The center-stack push-button automatic of Acura really kills the thrill of having a manual gear box especially for a car like this.
Yes of course Joe & I definitely buy this 1 day.
Still lying.

Never thought Iâd appreciate arm rests that pop until now.
Joe I was considering one of these cars my parents have a 2020 MDX with a recalled engine and Honda of America currently has no fix for it. I was not happy with Honda so I decided to buy a Lexus ISF off my friend greatest decision I ever made.
Wow it's hotter than fish grease Joe but this Acura TLX Type S & I do love the fake vents I think it gives it style as to a very very dull bumper.
Wow with those engine specs this car will get it!
Should compare to IS 350F Sport AWD?
Sick design from Acura, it's the most menacing looking Sports Sedan out if you ask me. I think it has a higher power ceiling, they're just not cracking up the Boost enough. Conservative Honda
Looks good
Iâm so glad that you like it Manuel
I wish there was a 6 speed manual option available
My hometown. Are you by Carlsbad/encinitas?
Oh man, this car is incredibleâ€
Great color and sexy wheels đ
This is a sporty sedan. The Lexus is a true Sports Sedan. Both are very nice cars. this one has a wonderful interior and exterior design. With that being said. I believe the Lexus to be the overall better car and long term investment.
I wish Acura would change the heads on it and open up the ports to allow more power and a higher rpm.
A performance car should not redline at 6k max. 5900 is more like it.
I know Acura is doing it to protect the weak 10 speed. I wish they would put a real dual clutch in it.
Nice, but I'll take the V8.
I just recently sat in one of these as I'm going to be Cross hopping between this and an Arteon SEL R Line with 4 Motion and the front seats were great but at 5 ft 9 I sat in the back and I was cramped. I'm going with the Arteon because my wife and I are planning on having a baby and the Arteon is a more reasonable choice while still having fun. I can easily tune the Arteon as well. I love the TLX but the Arteon is the way to go.
Arteon was discontinued
@@TheBreakfastLover I can still get them used just like you can get a TLX Type S used and I find the Arteon to be a better overall package.
Best looking sedan on the road IMO (Lexus IS is not bad either) but this car could use a manual, even if limited production.
However these car prices are getting out of control. A new civic LX base model is 25k now. When the 2017 civic SI came out it was that muchâŠ
Great review as usual Joe. Beautiful car but that colour , not good, and blends into the roads making it hard to see..
Would be cool in a 6 speed manual option
Lexus is 500 for v8 sounds. đđ
That is500 front is perfect....who ever designed that needs a raise
Joe, Nice cockpit design. it's same as airplane cockpit.

Haven't you reviewed this car several times already?
love acura
I agree 60k+ for this vehicle is a bit of a reach, I plan on waiting for a barely used 2024 with around 5k miles goes on sale for like 50-52k when the 2025 comes out
Acura TLX Type S all the way
A lot of option is available for this mark price damn
Copper wheels with that color car is a zonk.
I can certainly appreciate the TLX's size and overall comfort level for the long drive which I think the TLX is better suited for, but when it comes to offering that pulse increasing excitement, Lexus IS500 with naturally asperated V8 wins hands down.
I'd like to see this color with a ceramic coating applied.
Itâll look the same
Its rare to see this car on the road
You are so very right about that!
A huge misstep in not using the new touchscreen infotainment system thatâs in the 2025 MDX. The tech in this car will be so far behind industry standard.
Would you pick the Type S or the CT5V?
I do not like Twizzlers, but I do like that car.
I am a die hard Acura fan, but I have been having major mixed feelings about the company lately. The TLX-S is the best looking sedan in this class, it's absolutely stunning, however the performance is lacking. If I were to choose between the IS350, Stinger GT, and G70 3.3T, I would choose the Type S over those vehicles simply because of the looks. I do not care to sacrifice straight line speed when comparing those listed vehicles. The IS500 to me is just in a different segment simply because it is a strict RWD V8 compared to a strict AWD 3.0T. I do have to choose the M340I over the TLX though. The B58 paired with the ZF8 is just stellar and an extremely easy platform to make 450whp with an ECU tune. I'll get the Type S when I have a MK5 Supra, in the meantime, I'll just get the M340I as my only car.
I really want to buy one of these, but I wish I could get all black interior. I don't like the red.
Its a bit like street race type of car. But not a racer. Not a traveler type of tyres. Sure almost i like everything about it. Back side looks a lil bit like a mazda. That one i dislike about it. Imma okay with the none touch screen, screen. Maybe to give a new easy to handle. Its like nobody can do a touchscreen on their phones without seeing it right. Thats what this car made of easy and smoothly thugzđđ€Ł 4 exhaust.
Lexus all day every day and twice on Sunday. No comparison here.
They aren't even building these. Tried to order one in January and zilch. Now they are telling me maybe 2025? And on Acura's website everything is switching to 2025 .. meanwhile still shows 2023 and 2024 TLX...
Yeah I tried getting one earlier this year but settled on the 24 Aspec really a big upgrade from my 2012 Altima lol
TLX production was paused as the Marysville plant is undergoing upgrades to allow combined ICE and EV production lines. For the next year, TLX production has to share a line with the Accord (which is already running at full capacity).
Massage seats???
Joe, $71k? You mistaken bud? Sticker price is $57k. What are you or i missing here?
Starts at 57k. Can be optioned to just over 70k. There are a ton options available.
â@WescoastM3x not true. 2024 type s has everything. The only option is paint and wheels, other than that, you can only add accessories. And it is only 57k plus ttl. I have one, and the bmw m340i is the only thing in its class that has me even a little jealous. But i hate that tv stand in their new screen, and i hate the maintenance costs of things just because its a bmw, oh and the insurance is worse and the depreciation is also worse.
Fuck options.I cant wait to swap my base modelâs k to the j and attach a mitsubishi turbo to it
@megatrolltrollington I was on Acura's website and configured a 2024 to just a hair over 70k checking every box possible. I couldnt believe the price Joe stated in the video. The wheel and summer tire option was over 3k. And base price was 57k. 70,037 to be exact. 71,232 with destination and handling.
I understand you compared the M340i but if one were to fork out 70k for the model in the video it would be better to save and spend another 20k for the m3x.
Maintenance costs on my M3x was an extra 5k for 7yr 125k miles. Covers all fluid changes, brake pad and rotors changes, spark plug changes. Full brake jobs are $4k out of pocket. And this plan covers 3 of them.
Insurance is more expensive as the car is more expensive.
Depreciation on the M3 is very very low compared to most cars. 2021 m3x are still $80k with under 20k miles.
To each their own. As long as people enjoy what ever car they have all is good.
@WescoastM3x
TLDR: there is a difference between factory options and dealer installed accessories. Nobody counts accessories when talking car prices. The TLX Type S is fully optioned. The only choice is paint and wheels/tires from the factory.
i never said you couldnt make your order cost over 70k. You didn't option anything other than wheels and paint, though. The 2024 TLX Type S comes FULLY LOADED from factory ( thats why it got such a big price bump from 2023, there are whole articles on this)
Everything you "added" in order to inflate the price was a "dealer installed accessory " which actually carries its own cost per stealership.
The prices for those accessories only represent acuras suggested "msrp" of those accessories.
Acura did NOT allow "market adjustments" to be made to this car. So the only way stealerships can make extra money here, is to sell all those accessories at 500% markup.
Even if you add all the extra accessories on the website, your car WILL come just like mine (for 57k)from the factory to the stealership.
At that point, your stealership of choice will take your car and the list of items you added on the website and install them at the stealership. They will then charge you 300-500% markup on everything. (PRO TIP: if you want any of the accessories, order them from the parts counter after the vehicle purchase. The parts counter doesnt have that markup they get you for at the time of vehicle sale. Then, either install them yourself, like i did. Or, pay the hourly rate to have the stealership install them because its actually cheaper that way sadly)
So with that clarification, it should be obvious why the M3 you mentioned isnt even in the same class of vehicle and isnt worth mentioning here. Usually, if your budget is 60K, most people dont have 20k worth of leniency to just grab an m3 xdrive instead. I think your privilege is showing just a little. You may want to tuck that back in.
Joe, are you sure this is 71k and not 61k?
Will the 25 have a touchscreen? This center stalk is so hideous
I love the TLX. I have the TLX V6 performance package, awd. Lexus doesn't do it for me.
Nothing in this Acura can beat the Lexus V8 experience.
I was just wondering, with the amount of cars you review, does the smell of new cars ever get old or just "meh"?
71k wtf I remember the 08 type s with manual transmission was 39k.
I like itâŠđ
IS 500 all day!!
Looking at the Acura site right now, it is $57,600 for the Type S not $70000.
Gotta look at how itâs optioned
@@RaitisRides Love ya Joe, but what options besides the copper wheels and summer tires?

This car should compete with Lexus IS500
A very nice (less the copper wheels which won't age well) and capable vehicle. However not the performance bargain it once was.
Coming from an owner of recently stolen 2021 Acura TLX Type S. I couldnât be more disappointed with Honda with this car. Itâs overrated and overpriced for what you get. The car only has looks and a decent engine. Everything else is such a letdown from luxury features to the horrible 10 speed transmission. Me and so many countless owners experienced failures on our 10 speed. Didnât matter if you had mods or not. The stock rotors are garbage and the power to gas efficiency is just awful for the money. The security system is basic and can get easily stolen as well. I rather get the lexus or even go german than any Acura. Just my personal experience and opinion. I was a Honda guy for a long time but Honda is cutting corners and their quality is hurting.
Had I bought this carâŠI feel like I wouldâve had the same assessment as you after a short time of ownershipâŠI put a deposit on one two years ago. Only to sleep on it and get my deposit back. I couldnât get over the small back seat space. the gas mileage(I know. Itâs a turbo V6,what else should I expect)âŠ.and my biggest thing was price. Iâm in NYâŠI wouldâve been $62xxx OTDâŠthis car is nice. But 62k nice. IMO. an absolute NO!
Agreed. My friend has one and I was not impressed when I drove it. The puddle lights dead after a few months after owning it.
Sorry to hear your car was stolen. Is Acura security system really that flawed? Only asking since I just bought a 24 Aspec earlier this year I know itâs not on a type S level but cars getting broken into/stolen where I live happens quite often. Now Iâm super nervous then before smh
@@415alkeez They are. Not trying to spread fear or anything but it is common 100%

Lexus has that divorced old lady flavor. I'll take the tlx
Oh and not for nothing, as much as people hate to admit it, this car in its class is the best looking. If you say otherwise, youâre just being in denial.
$71.000? Is this thing bulletproof or what????đ€Šââïž

It is not 71k for the Acura, it's a lot less than that. Minimum 10k less.
