In today's video i will be showing you how to perform Intramuscular injection on the thigh (into the Vastus Lateralis). For today's video I will be injecting on my my self.
I also explained tips on how to locate the right site and perform the Injection without pain or so much pain. I hope this video will be helpful.

Everyone is different. For me it helps to push the needle in slowly while relaxing my muscles
Today I injected myself IM for the first time in my life. Still feels surreal tho.
But it's a good practice especially for ppl who live alone.

I also find the shoulder easy to self inject my HRT. My shots are only .5ml though.
thanks for this video! you really helped my figure out the right place to be injecting, I'd been doing it way too far on the side of the thigh and not mid-where the muscle is. I did it today and it was so much easier and less painful

Thank you so much for this video. I've been doing IM injections for almost 2 years now and have been hit with unexplainable anxiety about injecting myself for the past 3 months. Usually it takes me hours (if not days) to do my injection. Today I followed along with you while injecting and I was able to do it with confidence and no hesitation.

Just did what was by far the easiest IM inj ever thanks to your demonstration, going horizontally into the quad felt way more natural as opposed to inj vertically like every other tutorial says, thanks 🙂

Do you use a 18- 20 gauge needle? thats big i use 25 gauge 1 inch.

I gave myself Vitamin B subcutaneous 2 inches away from my Naval It was less painful, but I will try to do it in my Thigh as you advised the next time. I Bet it might have been a very painful experience. Brave Lady you are. Love from India.

when i released my skin after inserting the needle i felt a sharp pain and i felt like my blood preassure is dropping ,,i dont know why

Good Video ! if the oil sit in the area for around 3 days what went wrong ?
It means the injection didn't reach the muscle, probably it was given Subcutaneously instead of intramuscularly and didn't circulate immediately as it should. This may cause an Abscess in some cases.

Ughh this is always my worry. I have small legs lol. I use a 1” needle but wish I could use smaller.

You did nothing wrong, sometimes you can see a tiny blood after needle withdrawal after you must have injected yourself, it's perfectly fine. Pain is dependent on the size of the needle and the content of the medication. A little pain that goes away after a short while is not a problem. You just pierced your skin so feeling pain is not out of place.
If you see blood during aspiration, do not inject, withdraw the needle and start all over again.

The size of the needle depends on the age, and weight of the patient so you don't hit a bone or give it Subcutaneously. Consider these before choosing your needle.
A Godzilla sized one 😆 🤣. But to answer your question. If you're an average weight then go with either 28 to 30g 1/2 inch needle but if you're above average then go with 26 to 28g 1 inch needle. It all depends on u body type.
@@geneticvega3038 what, 28g? Im pretty super for im inyections is 22g, although what i have to inyect myself is a thick substance so its a 19g

19g is a harpoon! That’s for drawing the meds. I also inject a thick oily med. I usually use a 23g but lately because of frequency I’ve been using a 25g and just heating the vial under hot water for 20 seconds. Try it out.

I have 21G needle, is it good for IM injection?
Those are great for drawing up the medication. A little big for an IM shot but I’ve done it. 23g-25g is ideal.
I've never seen any one do a muscle injection through the side that way

24g needle is okay for an intramuscular injection. Just make sure you allow the previous spot you used is properly healed before using it again.
If you used the right thigh today, make sure you use the left thigh the next day. I hope this would help .

It's actually a small needle. The needle has to be long enough to reach the muscle because it's an intramuscular Injection

I hope you figured this out by now but you weren’t injecting the meds deep enough. They were subcutaneous and you could end up with a major abscess. I had this happen it was not fun…

You can use that if you wish.
The needle isn't the right size
You don’t need to aspirate, it’s a thing of the past. Also your needle is too big too long. 25g 1 inch is more than enough for quad injection. The site injection you showed is the right one to avoid nerves and blood vessels
In my country we still aspirate, not a thing of the past here. The needle is not long at all for an adult, it's an intramuscular injection not a Subcutaneous injection, so the needle should be long enough to reach the muscle. Your choice of needle size is dependent on the age, weight, and size of the patient and equally the site.
I will use a smaller needle for the detoild muscle.

Not a thing of the past in North America either. They just changed the recommendation for home users because people didn’t have the skill to do it properly. Was creating more problems. Still beneficial to aspirate if you know how to do it correctly. I hit a blood vessel once.. I could immediately taste the medication and my vision went all fuzzy and almost fainted.. started sweating production as well. Scary
So, you are saying this is how it is done, but don't do it yourself.
There are people who are on medication for life or for a long time, this set of people are not health professionals but are trained to do it themselves and they can improve their skills with this video.
A nursing student can also improve her skill with this video.
But if you don't have any sort of training about injection, you need a physical training. Thank you for watching.
BAD ADVICE. As an ex steroid abuser and now a regular TRT. I've done Deep intro muscular injections for over 30 years This is wrong when you pinch the skin as you have your just creating a lump of sub dermal fat no offence but your chunky. Flatten the skin and stretch it. This way you get deep in the muscle. Your way I'd be surprised if you even get to the muscle.
i got prescribed testosterone.. thank anyone for helpful answer a head of time.. why do some say squeeze the muscle and others say stretch the skin ??????
