When I first went to Disney World in 1975. the cost for a 'ticket book', was $7.95, including admission!
That included enough tickets to ride for the whole day! The "General admission" price to just walk
around the park, but it also included a few attractions, was $3.00! Honest!

I was in Disney Tokyo in November. The parades were fantastic, but it is extremely difficult to reserve a ticket in time for the best rides, like the haunted mansion, or the one of beauty and the beast. Unfortunately despite arriving early in the morning of all the rides I wanted to access, I was only able to get on the Splash Mountain. And I just hate that even to see the mascots you need to make a reservation in time, it was better when they moved freely around the park...also Disney Sea kind of sucks, the animatronics are good but the rides are extremely short, they are few, and I think the point of the park is more than anything to be like an imitation of a sad Europe, which as a half-Italian I found very unexciting...

NOT the Disney of my childhood (57-71)…Walt is turning over in his grave. He wanted a place to bring his children and not owe the national debt to do it! In 1971 when I got married, my husband and I went to Disneyland on $20! This was entry, lunch, dinner and money left over. No parking fees. We had tickets left over, so next time we only needed to purchase an entry ticket and use our leftover A, B, C, D & E tickets. It’s absurd that a family of any size should need a loan or increase their credit limit to go to any Disney park (or even park their car). Simply AWFUL.

When I was a child, our family would sit down in front of the TV, with a bowl of popcorn and a Pepsi, and watch The Wonderful World of Walt Disney.
I wanted more than anything to visit the park in Florida but doubted I would ever be able to afford it.
In '91 I was stationed in Orlando, Florida as a Red Roper. Information Ticket & Tours (ITT) sold highly discounted tickets for families.
We were able to go, but lines for everything were 45 minutes or more for a ride. My son enjoyed it and had pictures taken with many of the characters.
The main drawback was the cost of parking & food. Hamburger, fries, & drink were $20 a head. Parking was another $15.
Since then, Disney suits have destroyed the park bit by bit every year since then. Now you have to earn 6 figures to even begin to afford to visit this park.
Walt Disney is most likely rolling in his grave as he designed his parks to be affordable to most people. Now it's only affordable to the RICH.
Thank You all for destroying a childhood dream ! ! !

Walt Disney designed those parks to make every last cent he could to finance films and other projects. He’d be loving the deals they’ve made for the companies in its portfolio. He may have said “make it affordable” to the press but behind closed doors him and the duck were diving in gold coins.

My wife works retail and I'm disabled and we've gone once a year since they reopened after covid, we're no where near rich, just no how to spend within our means. Breakfast hot pockets, sandwich for lunch, only meal we buy is a snack and dinner. Honestly, I went to Carowinds last year, and I spent more in a day there than I did a day at Disney, now I agree, it's nowhere near what Walt wanted as far as affordability, but 77,000+ employees paid over twice federal minimum wage at a minimum just in Florida, you can't expect McDonald's prices for food(which you can't get lunch for 2 people there without spending over $20 anymore) and $50 ticket prices. Infact, if going by number of employees paid compared to inflation (9.375x the employees * 27.07(calculated inflation of an original Disney ticket at $3.50), a disney ticket should cost around $250🤷‍♂️ using that same math, your hamburger, fries and drink in 1971 would be around $1, should cost about $72

You know the Florida min wage is $13 going to $14 later this year and starting wage at Disney is $14.94, so not twice the min. wage. Of course during Covid they let go most of the employees, but paid the former CFO $15 million while the employees had to do food drives so they can eat. A lot of the employee jumped ship to Universal as they paid more then Disney, so just need to rework your math.
When you live close to Disney and know the employees you get the true scoop and not the company numbers.

Another negative experience I had at WDW Magic Kingdom was at the front gate, I asked an employee with a clipboard, and wearing a vest, a 60's ish man with short cropped grey hair for directions to the monorail to return to the parking lot. He actually gave me the wrong directions! I walked quite a distance all the way to the other side of the entrance gate, but there was no monorail entrance there! So, a different employee told me no, it's where you were before. Why wouldn't an employee just say "I'm not sure, let me get some help."? So bizarre. So not Disney.

We are from the U.K have been so many times since 1999.
A 14 day Disney pass for the price of 7 has been a fake advert for years. Surely Brits still don't get sucked in, by that fake advert. We used to be able to buy a 21 day Disney park pass in 2015 for less than 7 days of Parking at Disney in 2024 $30 per day . A joke!!!! . If you visit Disney Parks for 10 of the 14 days a pass offers, add $300 to your park pass costs for Parking.
Last year we were asked for $25 parking fee at the M.K. at 7.30 pm -- Park closes 10 p.m---. We turned the car around and drove home. Add Genie plus to your Park pass $$$$$ Parking for the day, $$$$$ add Food for the whole Family $$$$$$$. Merch $$$$$$$ and on and on. We will never return now that Parking is $30 per visit. Greed. $$$> ////// Just to add a slant. We bought a dji drone this new Year, two new comfy beds. We are going to buy a PS 5, a Nintendo Switch for the Grandsons Birthday this Year. I’ve never seen that before. They also didn’t care about the magical illusion any longer. Walt never wanted the guests to see behind the scenes. He is probably rolling in his grave that repairs are shown in full view therefore killing the magic. Not to mention the prices. Walt wanted his parks to be available for all to visit. Such a shame.

I would rather have Splash Mountain. There was nothing wrong with it. When I used to go every year - made it 6 years in a row - I saw nothing wrong with how it was by 2010. I can't imagine what would be going on in each of the parks by now. Once COVID came around, it ruined everything. The rides got revamped, entrance choice, and the must for planning ahead way before you even got there. I loved the option of deciding that morning where I was going to go. No wonder the park has become much more expensive. Disney has jus turned into something that Walt never imagined. Its sad. I shouldn't have to think so hard to enjoy my vacation. That's what I am trying to get away from when I go on vacation. I don't want to venture down that way and run into some kind of "thing" I should have done ahead of time that completely slipped my mind. Its just exhausting and I see no reason for it. In this economy, I won't be visiting anytime too soon anyway. I just hate to think of all the people that are not able to go to Disney - not even once - because of how expensive it is. I should not have to get a loan to go on vacation. Its just not something I even yearn for anymore. I am sure I am not the only one that feels this way.

I first went to Disneyland in the summer of 1960 and i had the honor of meeting Walt Disney as he would walk around the park talking to guests. I am still trying to find the slide that my Dad took of me with Walt.
Fast forward to 1985 when my wife and I started what turned out to be yearly trips to Walt Disney World which continued to 2019 before the Covid pandemic and the Parkinson's which she developed and would pass away from in April of 2022.
Looking at all the new changes to WDW since 2019, it makes me sad since a lot of the things my wife really enjoyed, such as the high tea at Grand Floridian no longer exist. Also Pat Doyle who was bandleader of the Grand Floridian Society Band passed away in August 2019 and the band no longer performs there. I know all these changes would break her heart if she were alive now. I don't think I ever will ever go back but just live with the many years of happy memories and pictures that we took all those years.

I have the money to spend, but it was so overpriced I felt like I was being laughed at.

Face it, most families of 4 with an annual income under $ 120,000 are not going to Disney. The price has out stripped income.

Has anyone noticed that when you return to the transportation station, there's no signage for the trams "Heroes" and "Villains". The tram operators are besieged with questions by guests because there's no signage. is this Villains? No. Is this for Jafar? No. It's. the other tram. Hours and hours of this. It must drive the tram operators insane. Clearly Disney fired all of the crowd management people on staff and are too cheap to hire even one of them as a contractor to review signage.

We were there the last week of January & Disney Studio was a huge disappointment as the Rock n Roll Rollercoaster was down & the day we were there only two elevators were working on The Tower Of Terror & as an ex-elevator mechanic it’s something I can’t understand since I believe the elevators are always under control of elevator mechanics on sight??? Also the main pool at Caribbean Beach Resort was shut down & that sucked along with the continual money grab by Disney, it will be a while before we go back to Disney World.
