    Still one of my fav lcgs of all time. I’m curious if tom and Sam ever revisited this one after some more of the packs game out??

    Lore wise, the Imperium, most notably the inquisition, has been known to contract out orc warbosses and their hordes as mercenaries to fight against chaos and the xenos, so I don't think there's any issue with them allowing to be allies. Orcs are expendable. The Imperium know the orcs true passion is fighting. What better way to get rid of a nuisance, than to give them another foe to fight. And if they're lucky, the two will kill each other. And on the orc end, the imperium are puny humans. Not much of a challenge. Not interested in them. But they'll take their weapons and if they can give 'em a proper foe, they can be budz for a bit.

      @burneden Před 10 lety +2

      Not to mention, for casual play; I don't see any conflict with allowing players to compose decks of whatever factions they want and create their own story just like on the tabletop; ie Space Marine + Eldar Vs. Chaos

    Conquest is a game that is easy to learn and difficult to master. If you play a few games yourself, you will find that there are alot of tough decisions to make. Particularly when it comes to trying to read where your opponent will commit his warlord. I agree that Tom under sold Conquest in this review.

  • @Scopi
    @Scopi Před 10 lety +9

    Buying two core sets will give you enough cards to make tournament standard decks, but you need to buy three cores to get three copies of every card, which is the limit for most cards in a deck. And some factions, especially the Eldar, need three copies of some cards that only come one per core set. Just something to keep in mind if you want to get into the game on a competitive level.

    • @Fabarzuam

      Scott Hamilton That's such a bummer.

    • @lpdude72
      @lpdude72 Před 7 lety

      So if I want to make a deck just full of Space Marines, i'll need 2 core sets (instead of buying 1 core set and having to combine Marines with someone else)?

    • @Talon3000
      @Talon3000 Před 7 lety

      Well.. not exactly. It's just that some cards only come with one or two copies in the core set but you don't *need* multiple core sets.
      The core set gets you 29 cards for each faction, but some of them are triplets so I'm not sure if getting two bumps you up to a useable 50.
      War-Packs (boosters) usually have 3x3 cards per faction, though it varies slightly. If you're just starting out you should stick to the Warlord Cycle of packs, since later Cycles add Tyranids and Necrons in the mix which are useless without the corresponding expansion sets.

  • @jimbostephens
    @jimbostephens Před 10 lety +2

    Sam's tangents are amazing, there should be a stopwatch timing how long it takes him to get back on point.

  • @TheVoloch
    @TheVoloch Před 10 lety +4

    Played several games already. Tom and Sam are spot on, IMO. The theme is soooo heavy. Eldar, known for their trickery, really are tricky. Dark Eldar is about pain, Chaos is about sacrifice and deamons a.s.o. The boosters will add tons of new and exiting stuff. And I suspect that the traits on cards will be more important as expansion come out, like Blood Angels will have a commander or cards that support only those. Let's face it, Sicarius is pretty genereic.
    If you don't know jack about W40k, this game will not be your first game to buy. Star Wars might be more in your scope, simply because everybody knows Star Wars. My friend doesn't like Conquest, simply because he doesn't know anything about W40k. It was OK to play but not enough so he would invest in it. He'll go for Star Wars LCG instead.
    Me, I LOVE it !!

  • @DANNYtheBOY11
    @DANNYtheBOY11 Před 10 lety +5

    "easy to learn, hard to master", strategically huge, you need to think way ahead like chess; you cannot focus on each phase as a single, but all phases as whole, you need to think about cards already on the table, about they cards opponent might have/will have and the way it might use them/will use them, about your winning conditions, about his winning conditions; so many options, so many outcomes....tough/challeging game in my opinion

  • @lordxmugen
    @lordxmugen Před 10 lety +3

    I feel like Doomtown just does the core set thing better imo. 2x of EVERY card (even though most competitive decks for the game only run like 1 or 2 of the same card AT MOST) in the box, only needing 2 buy 2 cores to have everything just does it for me better. Needing 2 (in many cases 3) LCG cores just play on a competitive level is starting to feel dumb, if not greedy for FFG.

  • @Scopi
    @Scopi Před 10 lety +3

    Two other quick points: The previews are out for the first monthly packs, and they aren't going to be themed by faction. The first six will each include a new warlord and his signature set, as well as cards for a bunch of other factions as well. And hopefully the box will be fixed by the time it comes out next week, even if they just have to put a sticker over the suggested sleeves. But if they don't, the game takes FFG blue-size sleeves, not green-size sleeves. At GenCon the cashier actually caught me before I bought the wrong sleeves, even though I had bought the game the previous day!

    • @Gharghula
      @Gharghula Před 10 lety

      Actually it's FFG Grey sleeves. These are Standard Card Game sized, so any sleeves that fit MTG, will also fit FFG's Living Card Games.

    • @Scopi
      @Scopi Před 10 lety +1

      Grey, blue, whatever you want to call it. It doesn't matter, they fixed on the box with a sticker, as I predicted they would.

    Great overview of the game guys. I like that all the factions are going to be represented, and enjoy the 40k theme myself, having played 4th edition through 6th (Necrons and Chaos, woo hoo!). I'm surprised, I thought there would be more enthusiasm here but I haven't really seen your other videos/thoughts on FFG's other LCGs. Hope to see videos on future expansions!

    This is pretty much identical in concept to the 40k TCG they put out 10 or so years ago ... which is cool! cos they stopped making it. And the art was kinda sketchy at times. Now this looks slick as hell, even has official art - brilliant! And TCGs and my wallet dont get along anyway ...

    Something that is important to note right now is that GW no longer allows FFG to really produce more things for the game, so if you like it, buy it now because it will go out of print within about 3-4 months!

    • @mnBroncos1
      @mnBroncos1 Před 8 lety

      +Christoffer Eklund Do you plan on possibly play tournaments? If so Conquest is what you want. Invasion stopped getting new products and tournament support due to lack of players but Conquest is newer and is a slowly growing lcg. I have only played conquest a little and invasion not at all but my guess is both games are great but conquest is still being supported and has less you need to buy now if want the whole collection.

    Its kind of disappointing that the hero doesnt get more powerful when he gets bloodied. Cause doesnt that mean the winner is most likely first unbloodied one??? I thought that was a major problem of lcg's is that you can see the winner coming from a mile away.

      right, you have to mix factions.

    • @Talon3000
      @Talon3000 Před 8 lety

      +PriestBonner you can play pure factions but you can not fill the standard deck size with just the starter box. You'd have to buy another starter box and/or some of the expansions OR play with only half-sized decks (the proposed first game actually uses just the Marine and Ork cards).

    Tom Vasel has the worst taste in games I have ever seen. I watched this one just to see if he would immediately see the beauty of this masterpiece, but he didn't. Even with just one core set you should be able to see this game is special...
