But Desailly ahead of Maldini? Insane. Desailly was a truly great player. Maldini is one of the few greatest of all-time.

@@aldospinello5497 It's just the truth. Defensive players get no respect when people talk about the greatest players of all-time. Paolo Maldini should be a part of every one of those discussions. He was a truly great footballer. One of the absolute best. Beckenbauer's the other one who doesn't get mentioned enough. Just an astonishingly great and important footballer, but because he spent most of his career largely trying to stop attacking talent he doesn't get mentioned nearly as much as some attackers who simply aren't in his class.

Just when you think you can't like Zola more. What a sweet guy. Adding Tore Andre Flo to the list of great attacking players was both sweet and insane: no doubt representing his friend. Desailly is indefensible. Desailly was great, Maldini was an all-time great. But even then it's hard to argue with the choices of such a great player and seemingly a great person.
The man picked Dennis Wise over himself. Dennis Wise was good. Zola was great.
If Careca had been fit for the 1982 World Cup with Brazil he’d be more famous as a World Cup winner.
